- Why I tried Eye-Care Monitor for 7 Days and what it meant in terms of eye strain and fatigue. It's a BenQ one you can find here: bit.ly/GW2785TC-AdrianTwarog
Eye strain is an important topic to me as I've been battling with having good eyesight all my life. I did a video about 5 tips on eye strain previously: • Don't Lose Your Eyesig...
I discovered there is an actual series of monitors that specifically tackles eye strain, called the BenQ Eye Care Monitors. It solves many issues such as flickering, blue light, contrast, and color which all play a role in causing eye strain.
I reached out to BenQ, and they were kind enough to sponsor the video and send me their BenQ GW2785TC which is a 27 inch monitor. I discovered some really cool things about it, including the fact that it had a dedicated coding mode, a special brightness intelligence feature that auto-updates brightness in real time, and even eye-careU software packages.
After using this monitor for 7 days, I can safely say it was good on my eyes. The colors for coding were great, I didn't get headaches, and I actually ended up being able to code for longer periods than I usually do. If you suffer from eye-strain, I would recommend it.

Soooo much free value in a single video. Also, an entertaining one. Thanks a ton.
Hey everyone, I spent a heap of time on this one, and was able to grow my team, I have a new member joining the channel to help film and edit. Going to be exploring more storytelling and topic videos, so if there are specific ideas or things people want me to cover let me know. Next week I'm going to do one about how I sold my SaaS! (the one I made in 30 days)!
"benq please sponsor me I want free monitor"
LMAO! My guy knows how to keep his viewers entertained 😂🔥💝
wow, that intro was so satisfying! Great and informative video!
Thanks, I’m hoping to improve my filming and editing skills over this next year
Very enjoyable watching your video! I’m sure it took a lot of work. Thanks for your research as well!
The intro was sick! 🤩Love it!
Thanks Simon! Only took 42 takes!
I suggest you to take a look at an SVD RLCD monitor.
Also hope that there will be more eye-friendly solutions based on color e-Ink and its alternatives.
Did you check if this flickers when we see it with camera?
Is IPS better or LED?
Man, you got me loling with that b-roll 😅 My faves were the reaction to the blinds being open and checking the time on your wristwatch but it was just your phone on your wrist. 😂
Haha thanks :)
I am looking for 2 monitors basically for web development work as well. At this time my attention is on ThinkVision T25d-10 63,5 cm (25"). What is your opinion about this?
Very helpful information. Thank you for sharing.
Really helpful.
One Question,
does the macbook heat up while charging from Benq Monitor?
Thanks. Now I understand what my monitor eye care feature purposed. Will barely use at productive time!
What about Sun Vision Display monitor or Hisense Q5? Both screens without backlght. Mayby these are the best solution for eyes?
I
Thabks going to start trying to make these better!
Amazing video! Appreciate you sharing your priceless expirience. But why rotating your neck(eyeglass mode) or eyes is a bad thing? I'm using 34-inch 1500R monitor, and actually thinks that is a good thing to excersize your eyes muscle.
and btw, your jokes are great.
Great video dude. I'm looking into getting the ASUS Antibacterial Eye Care Plus (27" FHD 75Hz 5ms GTG IPS LED FreeSync Monitor (VY279HE)). Do you know anything about this one?
Very helpful man. Thanks
great contents and wonderful videos. thanks for sharing .....subbed !....
can someone recommend me a good moniter that doesnot hurt eyes
this content is very good, great research also.
I seriously need a new monitor with eye care, I am a coder as well not a gamer, spend lots of time staring at code, 27" might be the right size for me. So how do your eyes feel with benq monitors? Also I think it's only g series monitors have eye care, I believe, thanks for any feedback.
Anton, most of their monitor series seem to have EyeCare tech embedded.
Is there a reason you dont use bar light above your monitor anymore? i just watch your old vids about it
Great video! Thanks for informations!
I try!
hey man great video :) whats the
light bulb if i may ask?
I have an old Benq from 2018 with eye care.. I love it..
Good video, Many thanks.
Plus to this you can try to search about monitor led light shim that all Mac devices have
ill google it
I had to change my kitchen lights from fluorescent to LEDs. Big-time release on my psyche.
I’m using an audiophile quality power cable to lessen the chance of my computer having these issues.
me personaly, i tried to make everyting minimal ans simple. on desktop, i have mini keyboard and mouse and 19 inch monitor. i rescale window as well as enable scale size on scrolling on vscode .
I love your sales skills
I do my best :)
You've changed careeers from developer to salesman i see. how do you like it?
After 400 educational dev videos, its time to do some more tech, topics and storytelling
Hahahahaa😂
Do you recommend it for photo and video editing?
No developer have fonts that huge!
so, after a year how is your eye strain?
Great, very important video. One thing… larger monitors can help reduce HF EMF radiation to you eyes, brain and body.
Itd ok 24 inches monitor?
be warned, the light sensor only adjusts the brightness by 20% up and down, it won't fully take control, it won't take your brightness from 0% to 80% for example or vice versa
Hello Adrian, what is the name of the auto complete extension in VS Code?
GitHub copilot
If I use program illustrator which monitor, do I use?🤔
Awesome video just started watching it and loving the video. Please what theme did you use?
One dark atom theme
@@AdrianTwarog Thanks
@@AdrianTwarog what's a good dark these for C++ ? thanks
Link is for 27 inch can share link for 28. Inch?
Benq panel has the better not light reflecting panel? I mean mate panel
Can i have your Vscode theme name please? Thanks in advance
After using a monitor 20 years without any kind of protection my eyes paid the consequences, you can prevent this while still young.
just turn on eye saver mode and sit at a comfortable distance
Your commercial that pretends to be a review is wrong. The best monitors for programming are 4k 43" IPS panels available from several providers.
Hey, i'm confused in between 27 inch and 24 inch 1080p monitor, some say in 27 inch text is not that sharp your eyes would strain, some say it's just fine, i wanted to buy a big screen but could never experience 27 inch monitor. Can you suggest i should go with 27 inch or 24 is best? And my pocked not allowing for a 2k panel.
These are promotional videos means the youtuber is paid by BenQ for the promotion of the product so he will not reply you with correct information. That's a sad truth in today's era. Almost 99% reviews about BenQ GW2785TC are paid promotional videos so we don't get correct information about the product.
I do not recommend 27" 1080p, the pixel density is not sufficient to cover that diagonal. If you want a 27" 1440p would be better otherwise 24" 1080p
Take 24 inch if you can pay 2n for 27 inch
for 24 inch go atleast 2k / 1440p / QHD.
Do they have ultra-wide ones?
If you talk about flickering, Oled must be the best technic right? But my eyes hurt only after using oled
Oleds also pwd
It's not good to use pure black screen too
Super Useful Video we Know your Pain as developer when it hurts in eyes sitting Long hours in front of screen.
what would be better benq eye care 27inch 1440 p or 4k ? should i buy 4k? (i hate games, only for programming coding purpose) would 4k be better for eyes for long hour of programming?
let me know what works for you. i need to change my monitors cause of eyes constrains.
@@ScatteredThoughts214i didn't buy eyecare but my friend have that its better...we don't need 4k for sure ..
I don't get it why you people think it's not normal to look at screen for 16 hours a day. I've been doing it for 20 years and so do most neets and gamers. Every video about this topic is so obnoxious about it like "I as a programmer have to look at screen FOR 8 HOURS EVERY DAY!!!!" bro most people look at screens all day like fr smh head
True. Im like if im awoke, ill look at screen. Even eating i like to watch film.
It's not the same as playing games or watching movies on your computer all day... staring at text all day is something completely different and I mean staring like a chess player stares at the chess board.
So do you wear contacts while filming videos ? How bad is your eyesight?
It’s terrible, and yes been wearing contact lenses since I was around 18. I’m negative five on the scale.
sound foams awesome ambient..😮
Sun Visual Display is much better, it is rlcd without baclight or frontlight, does not generate light at all, check it
super vedio and verry nice background i requested get vedio how to creat youtube desk setup
Thanks man, I do have a vid where I do a desk tour, but honestly, I painted the wall black, got a $100 Ikea shelf, and filled it up!

dude you have glasses prescription and you do not use them, moreover seems you have astigmatism. So you need proper correction for distance and proper correction for PC distance and it will resolve eye strain problems.
I have an old Benq BL2420PT monitor with this technology and it's really crap for the eyes, the best thing that can exist to not strain the eyes are the screens that Apple includes inside the 27" iMacs, I'm in front of them 8 hours a day at work and
my eyes are very little tired.
Apple laptops connected to any monitor that doesn't have 218 ppi density will surely suck and the text will not be as sharp as it should be, this does not happen with Windows, which has a totally different font rendering and scaling management.
For that reason alone I'm considering going back to Windows to write code at home.
so benq monitors are shit then? what monitor do you suggest for no eye strain etc
@@mattng4707 After months dealing with this problem, I can tell you that at home I'm now well used to a 27 4k, sometimes when I need more space on the desktop I use it in downscale mode compared to the default scaling, in default scaling mode everything you can see is ok but you will have the larger interface.
In downscale I have a slight loss in text rendering quality but it is bearable.
Final advice, if you can, buy the 27 5k that LG produces, otherwise buy any 27 4k screen, I recommend that if you stick to 4k don't get anything larger than a 27 inch screen or it will be even worse in terms of pixel density.
I have felt that I really do have less eye strain on mac computers. May make sense for me to just invest in a mac monitor as well instead of lg.
Yeah but, no but, as a developer and website designer has this guy missed the 2018 UK and International Accessibility Regulations and Standards?
Both minimum "Colour Contrast Validation" of websites WCAG 2.1 and companion ISO 30071-1 "DSE Colour Contrast Calibration" guiding the user operator to make personal, custom maximum contrast, "Reasonable Adjustments or Accommodations" to prevent or mitigate early onset eye-strain, screen fatigue, Computer Vision Syndrome resulting simply from over-exposure to standard out of the box, very high contrast bright-white background or contrast to text exacerbating the level of vision-stress / glare especially, when effectively "over-exposed", longer than an hour a day, to generic white screen interface setting without "sufficient daylighting indoors or ambient artificial lighting" during the day and at night.
However, in terms of public and Digital Eye-Health or occupational health the introduction of Accessibility Standards has highlighted the deficits expediently ignored by the Health & Safety Executive even before the embarrassment of publishing their "Better Display Screen RR 561 in 2007" confirming that the UK's DSE Regulations, excluded what it said in it title Display Screen Equipment operator-equipment screen ergonomics, were actually completely ineffective especially when further regulation by the 1998 PUWER Act (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) conveniently omitted from guidance and or DSE Product Use Set-Up Guidance, Induction Training or annual Risk Assessment.

so why use it for only 7 days?
oh, great video.
"no matter the size it's never enough" THATS WHAT SHE SAID
hahaha
So what are you gonna do with the old big monitor?
Video editing!
@@AdrianTwarog Noice!
Hi Adrian, I'm currently using an LG 29WN600 29IN IPS monitor which causes me eye strain and cloudy vision. In terms of the BenQ monitors, would the their gaming series of monitors provide the same effectiveness as the GW model you used as these also use the same EyeCare technology. However as some use TN panels - what do you think of these over IPS? Thanks!
All eye strain are actually caused by LG IPS technology. Don't use any type of IPS or WVA screen, SVA is better, TFT is the best. If you can't find those type screen, then amoled and oled are better.
Hi Chris, I bought LG 35IN curved monitor and i have strain eye and headache. I have tried many things like increase contrast reduce blue light so on. None of them work well. I was happy with my old asus screen. I wonder did you find a better product? Do you want to share it with me?
@@Mlab923 A little while ago I bought this HP Z23i with LG panel and it would almost immediately give me eye-strain. It's considered an average productivity display and I expected it to be somewhat tolerable at least. Calibration didn't help, nothing really mattered at that point. I had to sell it as a result because try as I might I couldn't accommodate to it. It wasn't flicker-free, but I don't think that was the issue really, because I'd used PWM monitors before and it never bothered me. Right now I'm looking for a new monitor and after that regretful episode I don't trust IPS myself anymore. I've been looking for a new monitor myself and I've no idea what to pick as it looks like a terrible gamble these days. While I'm wary of IPS I still don't know if the above issue applies to all of them and there is no way of finding out without actually buying one.
@@workpual4251 For that reason I still use TN panel monitors.. Benq Flicker Free Eye Care models are the best..
@@workpual4251 TFT is basically an LCD with a TN panel type. I can confirm that currently I get less eye strain from LCD TN type of panel rather than on my EIZO IPS panel, I am currently investigating if it's an external factor, or maybe the IPS monitor is getting old, or it's just that TN panels are better for my eye sight.. Thinking of buying a monitor soon, after I finish my research
You are my best friend
So you might consider grayscale or pen and paper
very cool. typically
thanks
21 to 24 inch monitor with be perfect for coding.
" I never notice the deference between a 4k and 1080"
This is the most helpful quote.. thanks a lot
He lied
big difference you will experience it ... if you work some time on a low resolution Monitor ... also smaller is not better, this guy in the clip makes things up ... for selling something ...
The guy must be getting old
thankyou :))
Flickering part was quickly skipped 🤨
You lost me at 1080p. I couldn’t give up 200% scaling with the sharpness you get as a result. So much easier on the eyes.
Btw you are still not using vissles keyboard 🧐.
It got the attention of my friends who asked to try it :)

Wow, been saying for years they need high quality color eInk options. So glad someone is working in that direction!
You didn't notice resolution problems cuz your text is at 200 % !
I had ordered this monitor after watching your video, you had totally miss guided us, the screen will lock odd when and pixel will be visible, I had returned it but you had cheated us bro, by not mentioning correctly. It is totally not recommended it, instead buy 4k
I probably spend about 12 hours a day looking at a screen.....oh dear.
I know I know
I got really confused trying to understand the video
Shout out to Andres Vidoza
Haha yeah he inspire me with his great vid quality, Hoping to improve my own
Being a developer who knows 10+language with no income source in short can't afford
If you know 10 languages why can’t you find work?
IPS has nothing to do with flicker free, any type of panel can have it and the real importance is to look out for local dimming. In fact IPS is worse on the eyes because of the backlight bleeding, glow and intense colors, recommending ips to ppl looking for eye relief is like recommending alcohol to someone who was diagnosed with liver failure 🤦♀🤦♀
You complain about brightness yet you sit besides a huge, glaring LED bar on your right.. lol
Circadian rhythm isn't psychological, it's just straight biological & neurological.
pure advertising, and he doesn't hide it
Get a computer glass that's all it takes for digital eye strain to disappear
Umm i use anti blue light for my glasses's glass and no it doesnt help eye strain. Regret the day i purchased LG monitor, at least my lg monitor type. I didnt know before, when i use camera on my phone, the screen flicker like crazy and cant take photo of the screen properly because of black stripes.
@@reitei1756 but it does help me though. I use LG OLED TV as monitor and it doesn't strain my eyes and it's all fine.
@@godblessbharat708 ummm OLED is the best for eyes thou. You dont even need any glasses for quality oled screen. When i have samsung oled tablet. I can go all day everyday without eyestrain. But i cant afford oled monitor sooo... For now i only have cheap LG flickering led. I want to know if a better quality less flickering will give me no eye strain like amoled does for me or it still will but just a bit more better than the flickering.
3:50 my girlfriend says the same thing
Yeah it’s a good point
Sales master
Why thank you! Hopefully it was educational too :)
@@AdrianTwarog yes it was, and i think most developers have eyestrain problems
What's this?
So BenQ have a specific monitor for ensuring you don't damage your eye sight, I go into a small bit about what causes eye strain and then how they tackle it!
I'm sorry... but that coding font is not it.
Fira code isn't to your liking? What do you use?
5:26 - Your editor doesn't look like it's Fira Code, it looks like it has defaulted back to some other font.
7:24 - Your terminal looks more like Fira Code.
Besides all of these, I think there is no monitor that doesn't fuck's up your eyes. Yes latest technology clearly helped (like having 4k or different panels, but these come at a price)and manufacturers balancing the monitors helped in evolving, but truly the best solution for this is to take as many breaks as possible and less gaming :(. For work I think is better 2 monitors with 25 inch 2k res. To split a 27 inch it's pretty hard to work, these is the reason I ordered another monitor, but it's a little bit to wide with 2 of them, so these is the reason I recommend 25 inch/ 2 monitors and I know these because at the office I worked on 2 monitors/24 inch. As a result, take a lot of breaks.
I think you're right, we need take breaks and keep distance between your eyes and the monitor..additional to that ensure to have enough sleeping
Answer: To make a video that will monetize it
for a vid about eye care, your intro did the exact opposite.
Your light setup is bad for eyes and you have wall in front of you
