I think the issue with that is the utter precision it would need. I seriously think it would require people from different weight categories to sit in certain spots or not ride altogether because the slightest cart weight shift would end in tragedy.

They do have something in place like this for weight testing on Universal's Velocicoaster to get the optimal instant shoot off every time. When the coaster rocks back and forth in the first tunnel, to riders, its supposed to look like part of the story like you're about to race the velocirapter but what the coaster is actually doing is using a series of computers and sensors underneath the cars to determine the train's weight distribution across all cars and then centers the take off in exactly the right places to allow for the shoot off to be the same and perfect every time.
That being said, that kind of technology could be used on something like this futuristic ride as to not have to ask the weights of each passenger but also, they could have a silent type of screening you walk through that just tells staff what car to place them in but that potentially gets difficult bc if you have a car that is mostly full but the next person cant apply to the next seat available, they could get split up from their party of riders or etc etc. Disney wont wanna do that bc of the "family fun" aspect of their parks. Sooo I'd guess that they'd use a weight optimization system like Velocicoaster. That way they could likely have a controlled hydrologic system that allows for the train to release from the first track to the second track perfectly every time and the pressure can be set based on the weight distribution the same way. Plus, if someone wants the front of train experience, they're gonna be largely disappointed if they cant because of tight weight distribution properties of a proposed train. Knowing Disney, they're already in development of a concept like this and with advanced computer simulations will figure out a way lol

There’s probably a way to make this work, but not with normal tracks. I saw I video of a bobsled roller coaster that would periodically change into a smooth halfpipe section before some guide rails would move back onto the track, and you could probably make a coaster go midair for a bit using the same concept. The only issue is of course the margin of error, which would be very small no matter what you do. Also, having a coaster jump that like would undoubtedly cause severe impacts, which would be dangerous to both the passengers and the ride itself

you could do it on an indoor roller coaster IF you could: 1) weigh every passenger 2) know where every one of those weights was distributed, and 3) had a completely frictionless ride system (ie-maglev) for a stretch leading up to and exiting the jump, where you could have a computer controlled acceleration / landing point. In any case I don't think it would be a good idea to actually implement a system like that, but there is no harm in patenting a system that would be capable of it..... you could use it for a multitude of visual effects or for a stunt show

So, I can see how you could do this relatively safely. You would basically just have a track section/bar that extends down under the roller coaster as the roller coaster travels, so it wouldn't actually be free falling, it would just look like it is. The track extension would be rigid and they would probably want to double-check the alignment each time (or continuously with a laser) to make sure there wasn't any damage.

Universal is reportedly building a donkey kong minecart ride that executes this effect MUCH more safely: by having the car attached to two tracks layered on top of each other. The top track will be visible to riders and have gaps in it that the car will “jump” over but the car will remain securely attached to a second track below the main one, so it never actually goes airborne.

Just speaking from a business point of view, there is no way whoever covers the park for insurance would ever allow this. They would make it cost prohibitive to build!

I swear they just did that to block engineers from creating it one day, that would take business away from there parks

Heres your daily reminder that Epic Universe opens in 2025 with a Donkey Kong coaster that jumps the track.

  • @T_rey421

They’re already making a donkey Kong roller coaster that “jumps the track” but it really doesn’t. There’s a track that’s unseen below you that you’re riding on. Then there’s a track that you see that you’re not attached to but it looks like you are creating the jumping the track illusion.

OSHA would never approve something like a roller coaster that jumps. There's a high chance that the roller coaster would be connected with something like a magnet or wire/transparent/small steel beam to the tracks to ensure that the thing would almost never fly off. A jumping roller coaster is a lawsuit waiting to happen after all.

To the amount of people who think this is real, bruh.
Every train will weigh differently because of the passengers, and even smaller factors such as the wind could also lead to a catastrophic collision with the track. The movement of a flying train is incredibly unpredictable making this physically impossible

Impossible the wind and weather would have a huge design flaw with it that makes the train move when not on the track

  • @sooperd00p
    @sooperd00p 11 месяцев назад

I got 20 bucks on it being a misnomer. Probably going to be on 2 tracks. It will appear to jump the "main" track but will still be linked to the secondary track. The cart will never just be floating out in the air.

Maybe just maybe it could have one track thats elevated higher but theres a lower track running with it so when the train "jumps" it falls and perfectly lands on the lower one idk im not an imagineer

There is so many ways this can go wrong, first what if theres wind? If you want to make a rollercoaster it needs to be very precise. A little gust if wind can immediately cause it to crash. Also, what if the weight is off center? Not everyone weighs the same so that can also make it tilt. Plus, what if someone moves? Once again it tilts and kills everyone.
