Hey Matt It’s great that you’re doing reviews on these Leica mount new product options I don’t really believe the new equivalent original Leica lenses offer a huge improvement, but their cost is getting unaffordable for many All the very best
I'm really interested in this lens. Great quick / mini review 👌 A longer comparison review between single and multi coated would be ideal 👍 Great as always 👍
Hi Matt, nice video, quick but it says a lot. Great to hear you are in contact with Peter, I am a long time follower of his channel and in the past I mentioned Voigtlander lenses to him and I am glad he tried at least one. Love Peter's approach to shooting in studio, , big fan, the whole lighting setup, then camera set up and his (pre) edit. His trick with his hand next to the screen to see wether the sharpness of a shot is realistic to his own hand was a huge eye opener for me. I even made an action preset with his curves manipulation to get a silver kind of look, he likes so much. I never miss a YT video. Hope you guys can benefit both from your contacts. Meanwhile keep doing great stuff, nice weekend, thanks for sharing
I bought the 75mm F/1.5 when it came out and I love it. It is on my camera now as I type this. I like Matt was a total Leica lens addict until I started using the Voigtlander's. Mow I am just a Leica and Voitlander addict.
Hi Matt. Seems like your speed panchro 2 stole the scene. I saw that background and you holding the camera and it really grabbed my attention. I was one of the early purchasers however haven’t had a chance to use it yet
Glad to see you discussing this lens as I'm interested; would like a 75 to use on my Bessa R3M and thought this one might be preferable vs. the 75/1.5 because of lighter weight and less viewfinder intrusion. BUT, you seem to favor the 75/1.5 at every aperture… is the 75/1.9 worth buying at all for portrait shots at f/2 - f/2.8, or does it simply not cut it? I do NOT want a “vintage look” as I'm a fan of very crisply rendered eyelashes! Re your collaboration with Coulson, I used to watch him but am NOT a fan… got to seem too much like hanging around the Old Boys’ Clubhouse… still, I guess I can stick it out if you can keep him on-topic!

Hi Matt, great video. I am following this lens for a while and wonder how usable this lens would be on a Leica M mount camera. I own a Voigtlander R3A and an R2 would use it for street and portraiture.
Pretty cool how Voigtlander keeps adding lenses that look somewhat similar to their older ones but still fills a small niche for those who are looking for it. I wonder if they will do faster 90mm somewhere in the future..
My big question is will that work on a GFX though? Cause e.g. the MGO Primoplan 75/1.9 definitely does cover that 44x33m sensor size with room to spare, so this new Ultron could be a compact portrait gem!
Voigtlander has some very impressive lenses, and thanks to you, I've discovered that and I'm so delighted with the lens I bought last fall. I have a technical question, when shooting a very high contrast scene, what type of metering do you use? Is spot a good way to go? Thanks Matt for this great video!👍
I have a couple of M mount Voigtlander lenses (28mm Ultron f2 and 75mm heliar classic f1.8) and I like them a lot - but I hardly ever use them as, well, they aint Leica glass. I should probably get over myself. This new one looks interesting....
Hi Marc, i'm the opposite. I sold Leica lenses to use Voigtlander lenses instead so yes you can probably worry less about the brand and just enjoy the final photos. If a lens is good I will use it, any brand, but my preference is Leica cameras.
Hey Matt, thanks for the awesome videos. I have the Voightlander 40 1.2 that I use on my XPro3. It’s amazing. Can you recommend any wide-angle Voightlanders like the 21 or the 28 Ultron f2?
Hey Mr. Voigtlaender😁I found out the 1.5 and 1.9 are both have very much similar optical construction (maybe differ from elements' size aspect), except Nokton got aspheric-surface lens on rear-most element. Maybe they found place to improve from 1.5 Nokton, who knows🤔 Will coating make that big of a difference? (between SC & MC)
Improvement I mean is, they glued two more elements, and I thought could it be seen as some kinda improvement....? You know, aspheric surface commonly causes onion ring bokeh. (with some exceptions...)
If you don't need the sharpness of the F1.5 Nokton, I think the weight and size advantage of the F1.9 Ultron outweighs it. Also, the minimum focusing distance is a killer feature that can beat any Leica lens. This is a rare macro lens available for M digital cameras
Yes for those using M bodies only the 0.5m MFD will be a big win if using the EVF. (That's why I bought the 35mm f1.2 when that was announced years ago, to get closer). For those using the SL we can close focus any M lens.
Yes I'm happy you asked! Zeiss Biotar 75mm f1.5 lens was used to record that video footage. Please see the video I did on that specific lens. (It is amazing!)
