He was terrifying, interesting he made Simcoe weirdly soft-spoken for such a demented beast in Turn, Simcoe was a much different man in real-life as a devout Christian and abolitionist-minded. His Great-great-great granddaughter sued Turn for defamation.

I love Simcoe's voice cuz I hate it. Samuel Roukin, you genius. Seriously, I witness so many people playing the slimy, dangerous villain as gruff and gritty, but really, the high pitched, lofty voice is so effective.

One of the most captivating screen villains (as Simcoe) I have seen in a long time! It's not just his surprisingly effective high-pitched voice, but his large eyes, and his height. His burning, serious eyes scrutinizing Townsend as he was being grilled by Benedict Arnold...chilling!

Samuel nailed the part, as he said the guy thinks he is normal. Even Himmler when off duty had his moments. But then Simcoe went on to better things in Canada. Turn was like a good book I could not put it down.

He could have easily gone on to play Simcoe in that normal, natural voice he has and would have been just like every other badass. But to create that gentle, little, feathery voice that often spilled pleasantries and compliments through a stone-faced expression was just too much. I actually thought he sounded like that, and how unfortunate it would be if he was stuck type-casted with such a voice. I came here to listen to this interview, and of course, come to learn that it's all a part of his craft. I keep forgetting these are *actors* and of course they are playing parts and creating characters! He wasn't afraid of stepping out of his zone to do this, and for that, I realize what a great actor he really is. Well done!

Simcoe! That Limey bastard has nine lives! I'm going to record his death so I can replay it over and over and savor the moment. I hope it's bloody and prolonged, preferably administered by a woman. Maybe Anna Strong? Although, Mary Woodhull tried once. Let her finish the job. Oh, maybe Anna Strong and Mary Woodhull can both do it and find some catharsis in the process. That would be a good sub-plot. Props to Samuel Roukin. He's now on my most hated Limey character short-list just behind the Col. William Tavington character from The Patriot (2000). All Simcoe has to do now is kill a child and he'll be tied for first place with Tavington.

    • @wolfyk95

@@davewilson6313 Simcoe did in fact Beat but not kill Judge woodhull, and Robert Townsends barn was burnt by the British, which gave both the motivation to form the ring. Ann Strong's involvement was heavily suspected by the British at the time.
