- Rappaccini's Daughter - audiobook
Nathaniel HAWTHORNE (1804 - 1864)
The story is set in Padua in a distant, but unspecified past. From his quarters, Giovanni, a young student of letters, observes Beatrice, the beautiful daughter of Dr. Rappaccini, a scientist working in isolation. Beatrice is confined to the lush and locked gardens filled with poisonous plants by her father. Having fallen in love, Giovanni enters the garden and meets with Beatrice a number of times regardless of the warning of his mentor, Professor Baglioni, that Rappaccini is up to no good and he and his work should be avoided. -- Wikipedia.

Boring and confusing
Couldn't agree more
Maybe if you knew how to analyze texts like this, it would be MUCH more interesting... you have to understand stories for their meaning and not the events.
No I agree. This story was really boring. I had to read this story and write an essay about it. The only way I could read it without falling asleep in one paragraph was through this video. I fell asleep while watching this video anyway. Concept of the story is cool, but that unnecessary corruption of normal grammar is so confusing.
TheDragonEmperor00 I agree about the grammar. I remember reading a George Orwell article complaining about “not un-“ expressions. E.g. instead of saying, “He was not uneducated,” just say he was fairly educated ffs! Not Orwell’s exact words...
Honestly this was my favorite story that we read in my class, and I didn't find it confusing to read at all, as long as you're not trying to speed-read it.
Hmmm... why does this story make me think of Dr. Fauci?
