So refreshing to see things like Purphoros make in the top cut, I will always admire decks like these that push past the current meta to try some something you don't normally see. Love to see more of this in cedh!
kinda surprised the purphoros deck wasnt playing any moon effects. seems like every mono red deck i run into on webcam games is running as many as possible
They have a tendency to kinda throw the game in my experience so I don't blame them! Usually locks out the more interactive decks and the grixis decks just go dockside breach gg.
I played in the tournament, and I actually played against a Purphoros deck. Not sure if it's the same guy who was in the top 12, but he did end up winning haha
I'm gonna be honest, I'm not 100% sure, I died to an enchantment that damaged me at upkeep based on the number of enchantments I had, so I was shuffling up and organizing my stuff when he actually won. But it was me (Yuriko), A Sisay Weatherlight Captain, Ojer Axonil, and Purphoros. I shut off Ojer Axonil pretty early with a Cursed Totem, but that one enchantment plus a Rug of Smothering killed me haha@@MisterWebb
6:43 Regarding Mystic Reflection and Najeela trigger, only 1 of the warrior token can become the Mystic Reflection target, due to the fact that Najeela triggers separately for each attacking warrior.
Purphoros- I have a deck like this, and totally take it to cEDH- it doesn't dominate, but it's better than you might think. (I decided to try it in cEDH because the deck is too brutal to play casual...so I wanted to see how it would do.)
The tivit deck is secretly really interesting. The choice to play signets over talismans, the gutting of the stax pieces(oppo, dauthii, drannith) in favor of the turbo stuff. This guy plays Arcane Denial over Delay! What do you guys make of this?
Esper does better as a slower midrange control deck. It lacks the explosiveness of red to be turbo. It will never be as fast as turbo decks. Being in white you’re better off with a control stax style that white offers to even the tempo. Even with tivit being a 1 card win con
It's very good at breaking through a midrange grind of a game. Because the trigger is so hard to interact with you're basically guaranteed it's going to happen no matter how many cards players have in hand. Then you're able to push a win attempt from one of those players side while using your own hand to back it up, or do the opposite with an instant speed win attempt.
The US meta is heavily influenced by RUclipsrs and sites like EDHtop16, most players there would prefer to copy a list rather than innovate. Japan does a lot of their own thing which is why their top 16 has a lot of originality.
the Dihada from Japan story isnt quite right. Zain copied a list that won a local tournament near by him. That other player played my list back in the day. In an Interview he just mentioned when he changed the deck he got a lot of inspiration from asian lists. In the end i dont think any of the japanese inspiration actually made it in the deck at the end.
@@LemorasCardsJust in case you didn’t know, Hareruya is a pun on the founder’s name and is homophonic with “Halleluja”. The founder is notorious MtG cheater TomoHARU Saito, who recently got into a scandal over an illegal poker betting ring.
I dont think Mystic reflection really works with najeela tokens in the sense that each warrior attacking is its own trigger, so youd only copy something once
Realms uncharted works the same way gifts ungiven does where you can just choose 2 lands and have them sent to your graveyard which will start the loop while the frog is on board
Nuclear fallout is just better than Languish if you’re on Languish. X=2 Fallout is the same as languish and you can go to x=3 to kill opposing Tivits or X=1 to kill mana creatures but keep Talion. Also fun tech if you’re on countertop in Tivit: you can give yourself a rad counter with fallout and then spin top to always mill unneeded lands. Been on fallout since the set dropped. Card is gas.
@@LemorasCards ahh that's awesome. What about Armix/Kraum in the current meta? Do you think that stands a chance? Something like Goblin Welder to get Bolas from the graveyard sort of things?
@@hinriksup it's grixis so it can only be so bad, but I think Armix has gone down in value recently. Creature decks are prevalent but are still pretty hated out by bowmasters and are being built to not be as hurt by that card. Generally I think grixis is favored to lean more proactive right now but depending on your meta armix could be worth it.
I don't think decks with that much card advantage in the zone and that are 4-5c really want them. The added card selection is way more important in 3c turbo decks for instance.
That Weary Prisoner was actually a Wear/Tear! Mystery solved. Let me know down below which of these decks was your favorite!

It's super sick
It's a good way to shift the meta. One breakthrough can shape the decks around it
Love to see the update Gitrog deck list!
Ever since Bowmasters came out, Gitrog has been put on the back burner. Hopefully those days are OVER!
Bring back the frog!

I bought my one ring today. $80 down...$7920 to go!
Hell yeah
Purphoros!?!?!? What the hell lol. Nice! Gives me hope my boy Gaddock Teeg can win one day! ❤❤❤
They're cooking over there!

Arcane denial over delay seems bad to me, am I missing something? I’ve always been taught never let them have more cards lol

@@MFobesyeah it’s a bad move
Arcane Denial feeds Trouble in Pairs, Notion Thief, Consecrated Sphinx, and Orcish Bowmasters. Why this list didn't have Notion Thief is beyond me.
I have a nice cPDH Dargo/Kediss deck that makes me believe that Purphoros pile would be fun to pilot.
This makes me miss my casual dihada deck but makes me wish kethis was more cedh viable because he’s nuts in casual.
Shred Memory is great against Breach lines and reanimator strategies like Tayam decks
Dihada enjoyer here
I have a semi tribal captain n”gathrod cedh deck I play on cedh Reddit. Thinking of doing a tournament. It does really well , esp in a kinnan meta
I’ve seen Japanese Tivit players running Emrakul the Promised End. Do you happen to know why and what the purpose of this card is?

@shohei9937 thank you!
I am so bored of seeing T&K. Fun decks overall tho.
TeK should be banner somehow, is unfair, autopilot edh, easy to reach the win...
Despite that, im very curious to understand how purphoros got so far

I love this scoring system. The excuses I saw at fishbowl, and even the ending of fishbowl was so weak play to win.
Never did i think I'd see Purphy in a Cedh touny! I guess i know what im building now.. 😂
The feeling of placing exactly in 14th place so I don't get to see my decklist mentioned😢😢
Dang 😔
Post it here so people can see!

I'm guessing the pilot valued the flexibility of using it as a clone or a funky creature counterspell
