Easy Gold Drip Cake Tutorial (No painting required)

- In this video I show you how to make an easy diy gold drip cake without the hassle of painting the drips. I just drip the gold directly on the cake. This is my new favourite method as it's so easy and takes lesser time. The edible gold dust is mixed with lemon extract and powdered sugar to achieve a dripping consistency and the gold drips are then applied directly onto the cake. The cake is a 3-layer vanilla cake covered with American buttercream before the gold drips are applied.

Beautiful
Thank you!
Wow! This looks amazing! Thanks for the great tip. Will it still look golden after hours?
You're welcome 😊. Yes, it still looked nice and golden even the next day. Thanks for watching! 💕
Can I know what you use to colour the fondant cut out?
I used edible gold paint made by mixing edible gold dust and lemon extract. You can also mix it with any other extract or vodka. Thanks for watching!
So pleased I came across your video! By the way I could listen to your voice all day - so relaxing!
Awww......thank you sooo much! You're so nice! I really appreciate your support and kind words! 💕
Wow this looks nice and really helpful. Can the lemon extract be substituted with vinegar?
Thank you so much!
I have never tried using vinegar for this, but you can use any other extract like vanilla extract or vodka that will evaporate faster and leave a shiny effect on the gold. Hope that's helpful.
Very neat sis. Plz what's that you added on top of cake ana you were stacking them? Also in the absence of the lemon extract, what can I use ?
Thank you so much! It's sugar syrup (equal parts of sugar and boiled water, allowed to cool down). It helps to keep the cake moist.
You can use clear vanilla extract, or any other extract or vodka.
@@laurasirresistibletreats. thanks for fast response. Keep up the good work
The gold drip is so devine, but could not see clearly what you used to mix with the gold powder. It was fast forwarded on that stage
Thanks! I mixed it with lemon extract and powdered sugar. The full recipe/measurements are in the description box below the video.
This is cute
Thanks 💕
This is amazing, thank you for sharing. I have a cake coming up that will need gold drip. Does this drip dry well?
Thank you so much 💕
Yes, it does dry well.
@@laurasirresistibletreats. Thank you
It's beautiful
Please what can be used in place of the lemon extract
Thanks, you can use vanilla extract or any other extract. Vodka is another option.
Hi. Does the gold drip set or could it smudge?
Hey, if I paint a buttercream cake can I add a drip to it without it getting messy? I loved you cake btw👍🏼
Sure, you can. Thanks for watching!
Thanks
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for watching!
I love the recipe for the drip and I love how smooth you get the cake and the edges, I am still struggling with that. I did a rose gold drip and I had to paint it on the white drip it took soooo long, if only I saw your video before that.
Did you also use the gold drip to paint the stars?
You are so good and thank you for the tips
Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words! Glad the video is of help. Just keep practicing and you'll get better at it. Yes, I used the same mixture to paint the stars, but sometimes for painting I just mix the gold dust with vodka or any extract like lemon, almond, vanilla or even coconut extract. 💕
@@laurasirresistibletreats. thank you so much for this advice
Hi what the name of bottle of liquid u use to mix with golden powder pls
It's lemon extract. Thanks for watching!
I loved watching this vedio mayi please have the recipe for the drip
Does it taste like lemon thou? And can use it to paint chocolate ganache? Or in a whipped cream frosting?
The lemon extract actually evaporates, so it doesn't taste like lemon. I have never used it on chocolate ganache nor whipped cream, but I think it would work just fine. Thanks for watching!
@@laurasirresistibletreats. thank you!
WOW 🥺
Thanks for the tips ❤🙏. Is that flour dough you used to make out the letters?
You are welcome! No, it's sugar paste or fondant.
What did you put on the cake before putting the second layer
Sugar syrup to keep the cake moist.

Hy ... beautiful work ... where do we get those gold bolls
Thank you so much! I got them from Amazon, but you can also make cheaper ones by rolling fondant into balls and painting them with edible gold paint, or make cake pops and paint them gold. Yet another way is to buy styrofoam balls and paint them gold. Hope that's helpful. Thanks for watching. 💕
@@laurasirresistibletreats. can I use edible spirit to mixed the gold dust?

I see in the video ur using wiltions buttercream frosting did it taste good? I never tried it
@@angiekilburne8521 Oh, I bought that a while ago when I had a last minute cake order and didn't have enough time to make my own icing. Since then I just use the tub to store my buttercream in the fridge. And no, I don't like the taste, no butter, just shortening, and it's too sweet!
Hy dear, is lemon extract the same as essence/flavour?
They are different, but I believe can be substituted for each other. Lemon extract is more natural, extracted from fresh lemons while lemon essence is an artificial flavor. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for an amazing video
You're welcome 😊
What brand of edible gold dust did you use
Lisol's gold powder. Thanks for watching!

Edible gold drips, the recipe is in the description box below the video. Thanks for watching!
Oh, I guess you are asking about the liquid I put on the cake layers. It's sugar syrup; equal parts of sugar and water, boiled and allowed to cool. It helps keep the cake moist.
Thank you thank you very much 🥰😍❣️
@@marionstevens2977 You're welcome 💕
Hi. Does the gold drip set or could it smudge?
Yes, it sets dry. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this, cake turned out great and the drip tasted delicious made with lemon juice. I just found I need a lot more icing sugar than suggested. Another time I would start with less liquid as I ended up with more icing than needed. My daughter was so pleased with her cake, so much easier than painting!
@user-kv5hj4ds9g thanks for your feedback. I'm wondering if the lemon juice could be more runny or liquid than the lemon extract 🤔, all the same, I'm glad it turned out well and your daughter loved it 😍
