I came here for my 8 year old brother (I’m big sis). His team hasn’t scored a touchdown in the last 3 games and are about to play their last game on Saturday. So starting this week, I want to make a difference. I want to help him practice outside while our dad is at work. I really don’t want his season to end like this. And obviously, life is not all about winning, but I want him to have fun and be happy. Thank you for this video I appreciate it very much!
I just wanna say thank you, my name is Roger Ford, and this is my first year as a head coach for tackle, ankle bitters, and I really want to help teach the kids the right way from the start and this video was very helpful, I will definitely be using these drills in my practices, so thank you for sharing.
Thank you single mom here. My son say he has no support so I want to thank you. I am small I finally can help him practice. Keep doing what you are doing❤
Thanks, my boys likes the sport and want to work out off seasons. I will use this for a workout plan. My youngest, watches Derrick Henry EVERY morning eating breakfast before he goes to school!!! Thanks again!
My son is starting his first season of football this year, 3rd grade. We went to a 3-day camp for general knowledge of the game, some agility & tackling drills, etc. His first team practice isn’t for another 2 weeks, I’ve been looking for drills to do at home to keep him primed & help with increasing agility. I think I’ve found my gold mine, thank you
Thanks for the video. I needed this! My 8 year old isn’t the most athletic kid, but has alot of determination..he wanted to try out football. We’re in our 1st week and it’s not going well😬 he’s trying, and he can do some drills okay, but he cannot run fast at all and my poor little dude isn’t the most coordinated. And It’s not even so much about his speed as it is him tiring out too easy.. he will start off at a steady pace and the tires out easily and so when they do laps, he is always the last one back. I know he has it in him, he just needs a lot of work. He seems to be enjoying it so I don’t want to take him out, but he’s on a team that’s known to be super competitive(they won the end of the season championship game last year)and he has pretty tough coaches, which I actually like bc the way they are with him makes him want to try harder..but I’m so worried that when they do start having their games, that he’ll not play like the other kids and end up getting picked on or something. I’m Gonna start doing these drills with him and hope for the best 🤞thank you
Looks like he’s on the right track. In my personal experience as well as seeing the kids I train, a kid grows into their true athletic ability between 12 and 17. So as long as he’s working hard now and building his foundation of strength, coordination and cardio, he’ll grow strong and ready to compete at a high level as he enters high school
Proud of your boy! Try having him do walk - run rotations. Walk 50 seconds - run 10. As this gets easier for him decrease the walk time and increase the run (45-15, 30-30, 15-45) time until he can keep a steady run all the way around. Do this for 2 laps around a track (or however many laps the team does). He will in no time be running laps without walking. Distance will increase for him as well. I see I'm 3 months late replying to your comment, so hopefully he's already made lots of progress! Good luck little dude!
Thank you for this video my son is currently going 18 years in the penitentiary I have been teaching my 2 grandsons 7 and 10 football I wish I could share the videos I taught them exactly how you taught me thank you thank you thank you ❤
Dude this is awesome. I coached flag last year and wish I had seen these back then! I’m now assistant for tackle and will be suggesting all of these drills! Also you got my sub!
Awesome! I appreciate your support. I’m gonna be releasing my own app with all my drills, exercises and workouts to help football players improve. Stay tuned!
This is my exact reply as well.. Did a few drills here and there for flag and yesterday was my first time observing tackle football to be an assistant. Looking forward to the season!
I'm trying to learn how to play. I registered for my local towns team but i don't know if it's too late. I'm 13 but always been told I should play football because my size and the sport always interested me but could never have the chance to sign up. I've played other sports like baseball but wanted to try football as well. These drills are helping me a lot 👍
Just an idea bro... i like that "stop in 3 steps or less/breakdown drill, but i think you should add pointing in either direction as you blow the whistle to immulate a ball carrier making a move!!! Jus my opinion
For sure! I think mastering strength exercises like push-ups and squats and working on his balance and coordination might move the needle more for his athletic development. Also, for catching and coordination, I would highly recommend a tennis ball to toss around with him to work on hand eye coordination
I’ll tackle this in one of my next videos. I would suggest a shuffle reaction drill where the player shuffled back and forth on a coach’s direction. Or even a mirror drill, which I explain on my “Get Shifty” video. ruclips.net/video/wH0oVcaFIvo/видео.html
My advice would be any drill for 10 year olds or younger should ALWAYS include a football. You can still work on agility, while also working on ball manipulation.
That’s debatable. Teaching a kid how to hold the ball can come separately. Having a kid focus on more than a few skills in one drill leads them to be less than average at both skills
Nice I needed something like this for my son he little hardheaded but once he gets things it’s over 🦾💯 he’s five so ima yr or two should be down packed

My 4 year old just started Flag today. I’m going to work him on these all the time when he’s not in practice. This will help him get better correct?

Glad to hear that! Let me know how else I can help
do you have a drill that teaches kids not to get faked out on the first move when they are on defense. something that prevents getting juked.
