I did what you show on this video, purchased a new key switch from local John Deere business where I purchased the X320 from, Installed the switch, started the mower, ran it turned it off like you do in video, went to restart it, & it would not start & engage the starter motor. What trouble shoot do you suggest?
Thanks for the Vid. . . Query , replaced key switch and starter relay and still have to jump with screwdriver. Havent found a vid where , like this , after key switch replacement , still no start no click . . . Any pointers ?
Thanks for this. My E170 ignition needs to be replaced. Question: if I install a new switch, and I feel this is a stupid question, but do I need to get new key?
My key switch is like new but it will not start the machine. How do I know if I need a new key switch or it's a safety sensor somewhere on the JD L110? I've been starting it from the solenoid and battery. Also, when cutting grass, if I try reverse it will stall the engine unless I disengage the blades and I replaced the reverse safety button. Darn!
Easy way to tell if it's just a safety sensor is to put a jumper wire from the S terminal on the ignition switch down to the starter relay. I did that with mine and it starts with the key just fine now. No idea which safety sensor was the problem and I don't care either.
I have a question, if the alternator is putting out 14.5 volts at the alternator wires, but won't charge the battery (already checked the voltage regulator, it's good) can a bad ignition switch keep the battery from being charged?
I can't believe they're so cheap that they just rely on the pins to hold these connectors onto the switches. Mine fall off over and over just due to gravity and vibration. I can't see any way to easily zip-tie them on there either. Both my ignition and PTO switches in particular have this problem.
Could not have made the switch without this video for help. I certainly helped, and I'm an 81 year-old gal.
❤thank you, that was easy!!! I will replace mine now myself.
Thanks it helps me very much as I live alone and am 72 so needed to see how it was done. Thanks again God bless you!!
I am so glad I could help and thanks for watching!
Excellent tutorial video, very helpful thank you

Key comes with ignition switch
It is a good idea to go ahead and get a new key, just to be safe.
Thank you
No problem. Thanks for watching!
Thank you!
Glad I could help!

Sounds like there could be some faulty wiring. That is going to be a hard one to trace without so further testing.

It could but it sounds more like there is some faulty wiring somewhere.
There were a couple of different configuration on the X320's.

Actually I found the problem, it turned out to be the voltage regulator. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated.
How do you turn off battery light and on the key switch , module lights stay on how can make them go off I have lx277 John Deere lawn mower
Do you mean they are staying on even if the key is off?

Aren't' you also the Christian Jujitsu guy?
Not that I am aware of haha!
