24 hours of nostalgic curiosity. 😀 The Lava Bridge was very 🆒, because it reminded me of how hard it is to deal with how serious a lava flow really is as part of the suspense on a dark ride that's based on the Indiana Jones franchise. The reason why I like that scene so much is actually because, I studied about Geology in the 6th Grade for Science at my former middle 🏫. I like Star Tours at Disneyland as we know today. As a kid, I also liked Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Mad Tea Party, It's A Small World, etc. which are dark rides located at Disneyland which is a theme park located in Anaheim, CA.

The three-piston motion base is capable of much more movement than they currently use it for. After opening, they had to reduce the amount of movement produced by the three-piston motion base, because it was considered too violent for some (translation: Disney was worried about getting sued by people who injured themselves when the vehicle wildly bucked).

Part of what you said is true, the rest is not. I was one of the original 12 Design Engineers who designed, engineered, prototyped and developed this ride system between 1990 - 1993. Of course the motion base can be articulated into more extreme positions and at much higher velocities. While developing it we did a lot of tuning to smooth it out. That's a part of developing any new design. But we worked all that out WAY before (years before) this ride opened to the public. And all businesses that deal with the public are mindful of the possibility of people getting injured and design and engineer their products accordingly. To do anything other than that would be unethical / unprofessional.

Also I have had the rat log effect look decent on a couple of times of riding, but I feel like I have also ridden with that effect turned off completely? But I think the most impressive thing is the motion of the ride itself. My pleasure. I like making little models, though maybe in the future I won't do stuff that's as complex as the EMV model. That was a real pain to make. 😅

They must make choices when the rides break down. The boulder doesn't seem to move towards the vehicle anymore. It comes forward and there is no backward-like motion anymore. Not sure if there was a mechanical issue or if it was disabled for good.

That’s so cool the opening ceremony was the same day as my birthday! I love the Indiana Jones series because of my dad and so I can’t wait to tell him that factoid now! How cool!

I can't believe there is only one active doorway! I rode it in the 2000s and believed there were multiple tracks ever since 🤣 Kudos on the models, so cool.

Yeah, it's pretty ingenious and seems to have fooled loads of people, but once you see it in motion it's a big oooooohhhhhhh ahha moment.

In all fairness, with trackless rides, they have been able to get multiple paths to work properly, the main issue with trying that with this is that it would take up a bunch of space to get the cars to join up again after the doorway. But, it worked pretty well with Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disney. They use the same dart effect on that, and it's pretty effective.

My ex girlfriend's brother is a lead at Anaheim. He worked with Spielberg and Lucas while Indie was being built. He ran CarsLand and now runs Star wars, he's very humble and loves working there.

I agree with the other comments I'm shocked about the doors, I always though it was the doors moving, not the whole room. Really cool to see that in the model. Also with the boulder I didn't realize the tunnel was moving too. Totally agree that they need to rework the rat effect and bring back the falling rubble. I remember as a kid going to Disneyland the year the ride opened and being able to see this effect first hand.

I remember they used to give out these little cards that could decipher the text on the walls in the queue. Not entirely sure if they still do, because I lost the one I had.

I used to have one of those decoder cards too! Went on the ride the first week it opened when I was 12. I remember that all the decoded words on the walls were clever ads for AT&T which was the ride's sponsor. lol It gave you something to do while you waited 2 hours to get on the ride since there were no fast passes offered yet.
