I'm a huge Dolphins/Marino fan and I respect Brady, Manning, Young, Favre, Bradshaw, Staubach, Aikman, Kelly, Rodgers, Brees, Fouts and all the great QBs but that man right there, Joe Montana, is the greatest QB of all time. Joe Cool.
Don't forget Stabler...but I agree with you about Joe.
I'm a Raiders fan, but loved watching Joe Montana play he was my favorite qb of all time. Plus he's a Notre Dame Alum...and I love ND.. I think he's the best of all time.

i think joes attitude with steve young was why are you still here.he was a backup for 6 seasons and joe is a legend. its like go find another team to start on.
Stardom has a price especially in the NFL, I think we take for granted just who hard these guys hit and get hit, players like William Perry, Jim Otto, Jack Tatum (both amputees) Joe Montana and Jim Plunkett who're both having to live the rest of their lives is some sort of discomfort. Let us not forget those who die way to young from football related issues. They have always had my respect, but this interview has reinforced that admiration.
Joe Cool!!! My first memories of watching football are of Joe and crew looking like super heroes in those red and gold uni's as they beat the Dolphins in SB XIX; I've been a fan ever since!

Joe, it still pisses me off how they did ya at the end after all you did for them.....awesome getting to see a spark of your competitiveness during the interview as you relived that!
Joe will always be the GOAT of the era before QBs were protected to the point of being coddled. Nothing against QBs of today, but if Joe had the force field of rules around him, he and crew would have had another SB or 2.

Hearing the "Joe Cool" comment was everything I needed to hear. It's not only a reflection of Montana but you, Chris...passing the torch. Great question, and great respect. Kudos.
Joe will always be the greatest NFL quarterback of all time, as far as I'm concerned. One of the first sports heroes I remember looking up to when I was a kid.
That was really cool two of my favorite players from different generations hitting it off!! Great job fellas
Great interview! There are two Quarterbacks that I have grown up with that I have a very high regard for who I feel that have, since retired from football that have been able to keep themselves separated from it, at a certain point. At times they do the interview...or a broadcast. It's Joe Montana and Drew Bledsoe. It's fascinating when they do an interview as in depth such as this, they are so extremely open. I have met, Steve Wallace. The LT for both Montana/Young. He is the same way. Introverted when it comes to the success...but extroverted when talking about their teammates. As a Veteran, this resonates with me so much. I hate the spotlight, but damn, I will definitely put my peers in it easily because I wouldn't be who I am without them. I love this interview so much. The memories. Just awesome.
I went shark diving with Joe twice. I was the chef on the dive boat. It was filmed for Good Morning SF. Ask Joe about that one.
I was a huge Forty-Niners fan and when they released Joe they were dead to me. Great interview by Chris and Joe was awesome! The real GOAT! 4 Super Bowls and no losses.

The other I saw Phil Simms on julian edelmans podcast and he also mentions that he and Montana didn’t like each other and now to hear it again just made me burst out laughing, I grew up a giants fan and these 2 podcasts brought me back a long time
3:10 to play in the Super Bowl. The Bengals just went up 16-13. Now the 49ers take over at their own 8 and need to at least get in FG range for the tie. The Niners are in the huddle waiting for the TV timeout to finish. The whistle blows and Montana gets the play call, walks back and enters the huddle with a big smile on his face and says, "Hey H (to Barton as he points to a person across the field in the stands. Harris Barton and the other players turn and look and Montana says, "It's John Candy!" Then, of course, he took his team on a 92 yard Super Bowl winning drive capped off by a perfect pass on a slant to John Taylor.
This is really good stuff great respect for these two.

I’m pretty sure Montana is talking about Andre Waters.
I'm only 36...but almost went into Sports history a few yrs go....Walsh had a system...running out everyone a yr or two soon (even when Seifert replaced him).... Which is why Lott and Craig never retired as 49ers (when any other franchise would've kept them)....So the Montana -Young situation was uncomfortable.... because they assumed Montana was done after 1987....and try running him out....

I wish you would have and him why he crossed the picket line helping to break the union. I lost a lot of respect for him and the other players that helped to break the union. Players making much less did not cross. I wish you would have addressed this situation. He seems like nice guy I wonder if he regrets breaking the union.

The Body Slamming rule was outlawed in 2018, and Brady got slammed a lot. Brady is the GOAT, Mahomes will never play that game of Tackle!
KO a QB basically a cheap shot Joe deserved 3peat.
That was a brutal defensive game on both sides but that was an exceptionally nasty hit . Today would have been a flag and fine with possible suspension today .
