I geninunely believe that L could've beat Light in this match. Light is shown to be sweating profusely, meanwhile L is still dry as can be. L also is shown to know a fighting style, which would help to further point out that L may have better athletic capabilities.
I find it interesting that the match resembles their journey. L takes the first shot (the fake L trick) both start going back and forth,light is pushed into the defensive (the confinement and erasing his memory) and the light wins by attacking
L is actually a genius. While Light assumed L's plan was to entrap Light in his own words, that was not his game. L wanted to entrap Light not in his own words but in the investigation itself, knowing that light would fall into L's ploy like a moth to a flame. It's a shame that L could've never seen it coming how Light would use Rem in order to kill him. That was something he couldn't have known beforehand.
