I got to see Foreigner in 2021 at a small amphitheater surrounded by a small forest and you could sit your chair anywhere you wanted. They played for 2 hours & left the stage, after 15 minutes of standing ovation they came back for another half hour. To hear them without the inside echos was fabulous. You guys keep on rocking!!
@@maryhuhnke8496 I just checked my memory and sure enough, Mick Jones of Foreigner hired Junior Walker to create and play the saxophone solo on “Urgent “. This led to a comeback for Junior.
Lou Gramm, one of the rock era’s best vocalists! Besides REO Speedwagon, Foreigner was my favorite band in high school back in the late 70’s & early 80’s. Both band were rocking’!
Forget the ballads, go listen to "Urgent", "Double Vision", "Cold as Ice" and "Feels like the First Time". The singer is Lou Gramm, but their current vocalist is Kelly Hansen from Hurricane.
Thank God that Jesus stepped in to save the Life of lead Singer Lou Gram, proving that not even a "fatal" Brain tumor could stop the Lord. Every one should read about Lou's rally with a LOT of help from above!
The true danger of listening to rock from the 80s: almost every band put out a "power ballad" at some point, and in most cases these wound up being their biggest top-40 hit. So many bands, if you try to judge them by their one big hit ballad, you're entirely missing what made the band what it was.
My friend and I went to a foreigner concert 1981 when we were 15 years old. We had to play the old game where I told my parents I was spending the night with him and he told his parents he was spending the night with me. Of course after the concert we ended up sleeping in the car because we couldn’t go back to either one of our houses until the morning.
Hot Blooded and Juke Box hero were also my first songs i heard from them. Hot Blooded always reminds me of WKRP, during the episode where Les Nessman is trying to be a ladies man, dressing up and putting on a wig all while Hot Blooded played.
I was a kid when Foreigner Double Vision came out. For the next two years, songs from that album were everywhere you went. You heard it from cars that drove by...stores...fair grounds...the beach...everywhere. It was the sound track of 1978...Every one talks about "Hot Blooded" and "Double Vision," but two other great songs "Blue Monday" and "Love has taken its toll" got a lot of love back then also.
The lead singer is Lou Gramm. He graduated from the same high school as me (but like 20 years before me) in Rochester, NY. Other great Foreigner songs to check out are: "Cold as Ice," "Luanne," "Double Vision," "Feels Like the First Time," "Hot Blooded," "Blue Morning, Blue Day," "Head Games," and "Urgent."
I just started watching you guys & am loving your reactions to the music. I'm 66 and you're listening to a lot I was listening to on the radio when I was in the Air Force back in 75 to 79.
Please oh please oh ease. React to Foreignor, Urgent. You won't be disappointed. Trust me. Saophone solo. SAXOPHONE SOLO. Who needs more of a reason than that?
Really after the great song I want to know what love is..,? Lou left the band and had a few hits on his own Midnight Blue 💙🎶 one of my favorites 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🎶
40 years later and I'm still play air guitar whenever this song comes on. Just glad my niece isn't here just now to see her uncle jump up off the couch and start jamming.
"I Want To Know What Love Is" isn't the only balad they did. Check out "Waiting For Girl Like You." which has been extensively covered by many singers.
Seen them in Concert for foreigner 4 the album this came from was Fantastic a great kinda come back hadn't heard anything from them in few years and then this 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🤘🤘
"I Want To Know What Love Is" wasn't their first hit ballad. In 1981, they spent 10 weeks at #2 with "Waiting For A Girl Like You." They had a bunch of ballads in the 80's. "That Was Yesterday" and "I Don't Wanna Live Without You" were great as well. As for their rock songs, you have to listen to "Feels Like The First Time" and "Double Vision." Actually, listen to all of the songs I just mentioned. Their ballads were actually their biggest hits, so they really shouldn't complain. :)
So many awesome songsin the Foreigner catalog!! Those first 4 albums were so great! Even the 5th one was pretty good!! Iwas lucky enough to get to see them twice hey do Urgent next
Foreigner 4 is one of those rare albums where every song on it is a great song. You could do a series of every song on that album and it would be a good series.
There is an interesting backstory to this song. Foreigner was going into a stadium to do a rehearsal for the concert later that night. It was pouring rain as they went in. They noticed this young man standing in the rain, hoping that he could get a ticket from somewhere. When they were done rehearsing, going back to their transportation, the young man was still there. He was still there when they came back for the concert. He intreaged them and they brought him inside to be backstage to hear the concert. That is what led to this song.
Their Double Vision album is the BEST. Every song rocks. Rock You Like A Hurricane, Double Vision, Blue Morning Blue Day, Love Has Taken It's Toll, even the instrumental Tramentine (sp) is awesome!
I was at there first concert appearance in Chicago at the Uptown Theatre. They blew us away. Threw down signed albums from the balcony. Small venues were my favorite. Packed house. Great concert.
Lou's voice is amazing! The band now has a new front man! I love that Jordan is a "Rocker" now! Amber, I'm dying to see baby boy already!!!!!! Much Love to you both! BTW, Led Zeppelin has been my favorite band since I was 14. I am now 62. Please play a few more Zeppelin songs. Thanks!!!

this was a banger back in the day and still gottem banging thier heads today. That's a true classic rock song. Their lead singer is Lou Gramm and he should get alot more credit .
Lead singer on the two songs you've heard -- Lou Gram. He had some health problems later and had to leave the band. There are so many good Lou Gram/Foreigner songs.
These guys (the ones that joined the band that have not passed away), are pretty nice guys. I got to take care of them backstage a few years ago. A moment I will always remember is one of their crew tipped me and it was all old Canadian one dollar bills that have not existed for a long time. Those $1 bills are legit a rare thing to collect if you are into coin collecting. The $2 bill is also sought after. Both bills were replaced with coins.
One of the best rock bands. One of the best rock singers next to Steve Perry, and Tom Keifer, imho. Lou Gramm, the singer was born in Rochester, NY. Favorite song by Foreigner is, I'm Gonna Win
Lead singer Lou Gramm (real last name is Grammatico) is our Rochester rocker. Saw him up close at a benefit for a Rochester police officer killed in the line of duty about 10 years ago. He sang "I want to know what love is" using a choral group from one of the Rochester schools. It was an amazing performance 😊
Can't go wrong with Foreigner!!👌🎸They're an institution with many member changes over the years. Only one original member remains, and he's only at the performances about half the time(health issues). But, you'd never know. They continue to be Awesome! If the two of you ever get the opportunity to see them in concert...DO! Same with STYX, KISS and REO Speedwagon.
Guys, definitely check out these other Foreigner songs: “Long, Long Way From Home”, “Blue Morning, Blue Day”, “At War With The World”, “I Need You”, “Dirty White Boy”, “Women”, “Seventeen” and “Rev On the Red Line” to name a few! #foreigner
Coolest thing being...this was written in the days of "Jukebox", bands wanted/needed their songs to get play time outside radio!... made it so much cooler when you lived it...lost on most now.
Lou Gramm & Mick Jones were a magical team! And Foreigner started out playing songs like this one. Lou Gramm was considered the #2 voice in rock just slightly behind Steve Perry from Journey! Try Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded, Urgent, Dirty White Boy, Head Games, Double Vision, Rev On The Redline, Blue Morning Blue Day... those are what made Foresight so great! That & the talent/ magic of Lou & Mick!
This was the more Top 40ish song of theirs. Urgent is meatier. While your in this place Quiet Riot singing Metal Health will give your rock sprocket a new gear. Cum on Feel the Noise was their money maker
Some where from outta no where SLADE say's " Hold my beer Mate! " Cum On Feel the Noise was Slade's cover I believe they got into a "scuffle" with Quiet Riot in a bar in England over some drinks with them. SLADE ALIVE is a great album by them recorded in same said bar where years later that "scuffle" happened They do an amazing cover themselves of My Darling Be Home Soon on that one. Slash the guitarist for Guns & Roses was influenced by Slade. Think Tophat.
see we had everything in the 80s: rock, pop, r & b, dance, metal, adult contemporary...the music alone from the 80s made that decade such a fun decade to grow up in.
Headknocker has been one of my favs since it came out. You don't mess with this guys lady cuz "If that don't teach you a lesson Might show you his Smith & Wesson". So many great songs!

Blue Morning is easily one of my favorite Foreigner songs.
Midnight Blue (post Foreigner) is a great song by Lou Gramm .
Cold as Ice, Hot Blooded, Feels Like the First Time, Urgent and this are my faves.
Damage is done
The album Foreigner 4 is nothing but hits. Cold as Ice is a great song too.
Lou Gramm is from my hometown , and he sings about racing down Lake Ave in Rochester :) "REV ON THE RED LINE"
"Urgent" from Foreigner 4 still does it for me.
@@robertfahr2420 I’m only 21 but that is my favourite song of all time!
Double Vision is also a winner album.
Cold as Ice is THE BEST!
The thing I love about Foreigner is that everything they sing about sounds so epic
Nothing sounds "epic." Why does everyone under 40 insist on using the word epic to describe everything? The word has become meaningless.

Another vote for "Urgent", Solo Lou Gramm's "midnight blue" is another one of my favorites.
"I'm the one that can feel the sun right in the pouring rain..."
Isn't the next logical step Hot Blooded first?
I have a vote for Urgent too special to me.
If you want a horn or two and hard rock try URGENT
Don't forget "Just Between You And Me".
This song is an absolute monster!!!Produced by Mutt Lange he knew what to get out of singers. And Lou is a beast on this album.
They’ve got one called ‘Feels Like the First Time’ that was a huge hit, too. Lou Gramm squeezes the mess out of lyrics, man. 🔥
My favorite Foreigner song.
Another favorite from Foreigner❣‼
Another vote for listening to "Feels Like The First Time" by Foreigner
I used to play this for my son when he was a baby. He used to sing “ juice box weirdo” lol. Good times

it's a really good song one of my favourites from them and really shows off lou gramms voice
Night Life and Break It Up off of this album are excellent also.
I, too, vote for “Urgent “. I think Junior Walker did the sax solo. Do the album version, it’s not cut.

Yes, the bands in the 80's wouldn't have had many female fans if they didn't put out the power ballads.
Great summary. The earlier bands were so very talented & versatile. Many were classicaly trained & it shows.
I think the fact that hard rock bands could make a ballad that went huge just showed the talent and versatility they possessed.

Ya wanta get in the mood Hot-blooded is it!
I probably posted this when you first played it, but this is definitely my favorite Foreigner song!
Yay you guys did the Lou Gramm version! So many people do the one with Kelly
THis song and Hot Blooded are their greatest hard rock songs. However, all of their songs are great!
@@williamralph8396 Slade "Run Run away" is a catchy tune.. his theatrics in that video .. make it a fun one
Slick Black Cadillac
Have never seen anybody react to Quiet Riot before . Could be the first.
@@DK-ie2fm Kevin DuBrow and Randy Rhodes .. made a potent combination "Cum on Feel the Noize"
see we had everything in the 80s: rock, pop, r & b, dance, metal, adult contemporary...the music alone from the 80s made that decade such a fun decade to grow up in.
You haven't heard crazy vocals until you hear steelheart " I'll never let you go" official video. And "She's Gone" official video also by steelheart.
YES!
Headknocker has been one of my favs since it came out. You don't mess with this guys lady cuz "If that don't teach you a lesson
Might show you his Smith & Wesson". So many great songs!
I enjoy watching your reactions.. truly appreciative of great music.. Thanks for your honesty and keepin it real yal.. keep Rockin!
they didn't have a bad song - ever. and Lou is one of the very best singers. glad they made it in the hall of fame
Feels Like The First Time, won’t be disappointed.
