  • Using a size 9 1/2 (9 UK) B&P Legend on an 80 yard battue target at Garlands near Tamworth, Staffs.
As stated in the video, I would not use this size cartridge in a competition scenario. I would probably choose a 7 1/2 for this target.
By using a cartridge containing larger pellets, the shot would carry more energy downrange and therefore, should need less pellets to break the clay and be less affected by weather conditions.

A factor of pattern density. I use 24gr 8's for DTL. More pellets than 24gr 7.5's and about the same as 28gr of 7.5's without the recoil. Slightly more dense pattern.

#9’s will break a target a LOT further than you would think. Usually use a 5/8 or 3/4 choke of you will break them out to 45 yards. Try it one day and have some fun during practice.

    Interesting video Adam, thanks
Love the B&P's I use them a lot in France but tend to default to Gamebore here
Battues are thin and moving with energy so don't take much to break even at distance, agreed though in a comp don't think have the guts to go with a 9 ha ha
    🤣

@MSJOnline1 Agreed mate. Gamebore are still an option and I use velocities a lot for practising but my local stockists just don't have the right selection of Gamebore for competition use for me. That's why I swapped to B&P, I have far more options available locally in a few shops and grounds, all within close proximity. For me to get my choice of Gamebore, it's an hour each way.. Only ones available locally White Gold 7.5 and they are overkill for most targets, I prefer 8s for most shots.

      Good effort!
Does this mean that shit size doesn’t really matter!?

It depends on the type of target and the conditions. I have been to a shoot before, where the wind speed dictated a 7.5 on a clay 20 yards away. Also I would be using 7.5s on anything over 40 yards and if it was a standard clay edge on such as a teal or a rabbit over about 30 yards.

@@BobbysGunChannel it matters, and there's no simple answer really depends on choke etc too but for me though people put too much consideration into distance and not enough on presentation and energy. A fast clay showing belly even at distance will require less 'punch' than something closer moving slow and edge on / dome in my experience.

      What choke contriction?

Nothing surprising here. A mosquito flying at full speed could break a battue clay!😂
