This seemed like such a simple song at first, but the more you listen to it the more subtle little details and layers you hear. also the lyrics are incredible.
+listenhealthily Not so IMO. There are lots of songs where they have a huge impact the first time you hear them, but then the more you listen you find that there isnt a lot to sink your teeth into. Conversely, there are plenty of really intricate songs that require lots of re-listening to really find a full connection with/appreciation for. I tend to find that songs like this, which are both immediately rewarding and grow with you at each listen to be rather rare. Of course, this is all totes subjective.
Idk if you guys feel it too, but I think Sevdaliza does some awesome deep reflections about the built of a virtual character of yourself that defies your humanity. Listening to the song and watching the video all together, looks like the this virtual construction of a real girl (made by her pics in social media and stuff) would like to be the person who actually is taking the pics and building this image, and talks about this guy who just knew this fake emulation of her. And the 3D animations have a lot to do with it because it isn't really Sevdaliza, it's some image with a fluid and false "form or shape". Anyway, might be just the way I see it amongst the many possible ways to see this. I'm so happy I stumbled into her work
These are my thoughts exactly! It seems quite obvious that "that other girl" - is actually she in that man's eyes. It's her representation through social media, cognitive bias etc. Its not she, its just a simulacrum of her. Anyways, we also understand that it could happen for various reasons: his unwllingness to know her true inner part, or maybe it's just because it's a natural thing that a person as it is and this very person in our eyes - are two different things. But it's a good thing Sevdaliza mentioned social media, since they really encourage the creation of a simulacrum over the personality.

This doesn’t cost a million dollars, this was all done in 3D and there aren’t a lot of movements (most are poses) so it shouldn’t be that expensive. I was a 3D designer. Also if she found a good foreign 3D artist it probably would cost cheaper to hire them to make this.

The manipulation of the harmonies with the tech effects lends to this whiplash effect that is exactly like the feeling you get when you actually see "that other girl". This video is so strange yet I can't stop watching it to interpret it more!! I think so far that they are all different parts of her, and there are "masks" around her in scenes, implying she is hiding from something and giving a new image. In Greek Mythology, Medusa, the snake-headed women, turns people to stone. The stone men are people she has hurt (and she feels she can't get close to anyone) so she wants to be "that other girl" to escape from the person who she feels so negatively about. (it's important to note she has her eyes closed in this scene, so she probably doesn't want it to happen anymore) The lyrics imply she is talking about someone specific who didn't take her seriously and thought he could mess around with, but with her masks, throne, and cursed eyes, she is invincible. Overall I think it's a story of a woman who protects her heart, and indirectly hurts her loved ones, and wishes she could be someone else. But that's just my interpretation, haha!
