yeah,, the interactive gestures and UI hints were too new at the time, especially for people switching from feature phones. It was a lot to take in. If it came out today, I think people would be way more into it.
Man, seeing all these old phones bringing back hella memories. Got me feeling so old now hahaha. Crazy to see how far the tech has improved compared to years ago.
It feel so good to see, how they maintain the transparency with customer, by unveiling each thing be it , stories, or some cool stuff, actually highlighting hard works of people, from marketing, developers, designers. A company truly wants to make tech fun again, rather than just earning profits by launching not so cool phones like other companies do. Really appreciate the hard work, and a Proud Nothing Fan.
Love how transparent you guys are about your inspirations! It’s refreshing to see a company openly share what motivates them instead of pretending it’s all from scratch. This honesty is what builds real trust with your audience-keep up the great work! 👏
6:00 "I did not have money to buy this" Haha same mate, same. I remember a neighbor of mine had it and I constantly went over just to play with his Nokia, what an amazing tech it was back then...
It's always good to see Mladen in these videos and listen to what he says about design. I am a big fan of Blloc Ratio (I still use it from 2021) and the new Nothing os 3.0 has the same interesting look with unique functions
It's amazing to see how they blended elements from iconic designs into something fresh and innovative. Nothing OS really nails that balance between familiarity and a unique aesthetic. Props to the team for pushing smartphone design forward
Glad to see a company that still actually cares about their products and software. Actually trying to innovate, unlike all the major companies. Love your work Nothing team❤️
I hope this company will maintain its current approach. I appreciate their practice of sharing candid stories with consumers, fostering a sense of connection.
Nokia had a filp phone with dual screen (small one on the outside.) that phone had probably the best OS/UI. I remember using that phone to flex on my friends saying "I can change the songs without even flip opening the phone" even though it was a flip phone.
I dont own a phone from Nothing but I really appreciate being subscribed to your channel, you guys post amazing videos and don't hold back talking about other brands and ideas, its really refreshing these days.
It's nice to see that nothing puts so much effort and practicality in mind while designing the OS and being open from where the inspiration comes from.
Discovered you all when the first phone was released and fell in love with the project, it has been so cool to watch the company grow and the vision be realized. Keep it up!
Nothing OS is the type of OS that inspires itself over time - it started a whole new trend (simplicity and monochromatic looks) and I really want it to be this way for a long time
I fully agree with you! Adding some extra functionality but keeping the looks minimalistic and monochromatic are definitely the way Nothing should keep going forward. I had a Pixel 7a before buying my Nothing Phone 2a and I'm thankful to Nothing for their approach to user experience.
I love Nothing videos! They're always so refreshing and different from the typical tech launch videos. Carl does a great job of keeping things interesting and engaging, and it's clear that he really listens to the feedback from the community. I'm excited to see what they come up with next!
It's really cool that Nothing has been really open about their phones and where they're inspiration comes from. It was nice to wake up and go down memory lane
This is awesome, I've been a pixel fanboy ever since the OG Pixel 1 but I believe now is the perfect time to switch to a company that cares about the community. Good work @Nothing 💯
Love how the Nothing Phone's OS perfectly complements its design, it’s awesome to see how your devs prioritize both form and function in such a balanced and thoughtful way!
Wooww!! This is crazy how we have evolved in th OS and it's so satisfying to see the phones and UI from our past. Cheers to all the developers out there 🎉. Looking forward for the best from Nothing Team 🤩🥳
Wow, this was such a cool throwback! Seeing how different operating systems inspired each other over the years is amazing. From the iPhone’s game-changing design to Palm's ideas that were way ahead of their time - it's all so nostalgic. It's great that Nothing OS is trying to bring back that warmth and creativity in design. It’s not just about making things work but making them feel good to use too. Can’t wait to see where they go next!
Nothing (2a) Plus Community Edition Project glow-in-the-dark accent is such an absolute beauty to look at & I can't wait to hold it in my hands. I'm a big fan of your product and my appreciation for Nothing is through the roof. Keep up the great work!
Just relishing these designs takes me back to how long we have come in these phone designs and UI. That lumia, blackberry 9700 and htc one are real nostalgia.
respect where respect is due, admitting that some companies are/were better than us in some regards in a power move and it takes guts to admit that. kudos to the team
I discovered the nothing phone yesterday while looking for a new phone, this project seems promissing and original! Pretty fond of the more "if it looks great, it will work great" idea... saying that having a creative vision sells a lot more then having some new features. Keep it up designs engeigners! :D
I, together with like 19 other people, really loved the Windows Phone back then. I'm a massive clean typography and flat design fan and this was right up there.
I love that they have soo many ideas for these RUclips videos. You really get a feel of what the company is and what they stand for. It's just amazing ngl 👌
I love Nokia and HTC, and I still have both of them with me. For Nokia I have an N70 ( front Camera and back Back camera with Carl Zeiss) and for my HTC my desire 826 was stolen and later I bought an HTC one A9. You guys are doing better day by day. More power to you.
I appreciate the effort they put into the OS rather than just launching another phone without major upgrades. Also, I appreciate the transparency (they do it like it is their motto). Waiting for the update. Kudos to simplicity. Really want a comeback from BlackBerry
I love the fact that the phone technology is advancing at such a pace and having a brand which listens to their customers is really appreciated though not the best for now but the potential is there so I fully support "Nothing" I'm really excited about the future development of " Nothing" brand
Great content, slowly convincing me away from other Android. I've used every phone you've presented. What a journey in OS's to where you are today. 🙏 Keep it up and I'll most likely have 'Nothing' in my pocket 😁
really love the idea of taking ideas from early tech and ui design, especially since these days the only design trend in tech is oversimplification and minimalism
Really digging the WebOS and Windows Phone references (I was one of those rare Zune fans). Wild that some of WebOS' features are still untapped (like the live updates while switching windows).
Woah, the nostalgia hits hard! Sony Ericsson, Nokia 6600, and those song-sharing sessions via IR. HTC's animations were like a party for your eyes! Whenever you unlocked your screen, a delightful animation related to the current weather with sound would greet you. NothingOS stands out as a truly remarkable and exceptional! 😍
Loved that the nothing UI was designed keeping so many ideas in mind. Just shows how serious Nothing takes the user experience. There are so many phones out there with lots of good hardware but shitty and buggy software. No use of the hardware numbers and specs if your software can't utilize it. Loved that nothing is carefully thinking about all this and it shows in its products. Great work. So inspirational.
Amazing video! Brings back the memories of how the phones were actually ahead of the time and I can see how well Nothing OS is inspired from. Setting a new Unique "Nothing" theme to Android which everyone will remember! :)
I owned a Windows Phone from the local manufacturer Microsoft tagged for the thing. I loved it, like as always. Nothing would be my new favorite, the design, the simplicity, the identity, it catches my interest just like how Windows Phone did to me before.
I was writing review on smartphones in the early 2010s and my pinnacle idea was to create a material of UI and UX history for smartphones, so I collected one device on every OS version that brought something new to the experience. These are all such a great ideas and concepts, fun times!
I really like their discussion about designs of different operating systems. My favourite would be Palm OS and Windows Phone OS. They are really decluttered and easy to use. Thats what i like about Nothing OS too.
I would love to see elements of WP being brought back. Never quite had the language of design to say what it was that I missed, but things like the peek at what's in the next menu and some of the scrolling you highlighted are really worth preserving.
I Love How Nothing is becoming a brand, and the design the concept and the natural look, and transparency in Pricing and the design and being honest with Users, Well I see a company which Customers can trust with Closed eyes. Love you all.
The Metro UI of Windows Phone was genuinely ahead of its time. It introduced a refreshing simplicity and elegance that felt incredibly intuitive and modern. The clean lines, vibrant live tiles, and focus on typography created a seamless, user-friendly experience that broke away from the cluttered, icon-heavy approach of other systems. It was a bold move that emphasized functionality through form, proving that an interface could be both beautiful and effective without relying on excessive ornamentation.
Sometimes I just wonder how much technology evolved from generation to generation, from product to product. It's stagnant nowadays. It's nice that Nothing as a company likes nostalgia, the important history their competitors have and the respect!
Windows Phone was peak UI, shame it wasn't supported by developers, heck, it even looks so modern today, hasn't aged a bit
And those animations 🤩
Loves those animations
true 💯
agreed.

Update is most likely when phone 3 releases
Yeah.....bring it on in phone 2 ASAP @Nothing

December
Every day I'm more convinced that I want a nothing phone. It just looks so good
I loved windows phone UI, I miss them badly
+1
Oh yeah me too !
Glad I'm not the only one. Windows phone was a work of art. I was ridiculed non stop for having one, but I didn't care, the OS was beautiful.
Definitely! 💯

Compatitor 😭💀🙏
Compatitor IM DYING
Ah yes their Compatitor😂
Don't you _dare_ to edit this post, it's just perfect the way it is 😻
Competition where???
I hope this company will maintain its current approach. I appreciate their practice of sharing candid stories with consumers, fostering a sense of connection.
I am 23 years old and never used a blackberry but it still looks like have a style. Not usable of course but still has some vibe ; ]
They were great devices.
@@ducapelli Well, I never seen one in actual use... at least they look good hahaha

It's nice to see that nothing puts so much effort and practicality in mind while designing the OS and being open from where the inspiration comes from.
told my 60 yo aunt to bought the 2a and she did. I played with it for 1 day. Now I want one
It's really good..
Discovered you all when the first phone was released and fell in love with the project, it has been so cool to watch the company grow and the vision be realized. Keep it up!
The Nothing Marketing team has been making a lot of videos recently 🤔
Is this bad ?
I appreciate how knowledgeable they are about both classic and modern UI/UX, bringing best practices to their OS.

Boring Monochrome and flat surfaces are a disgrace to design and Accessibility
@@Aresydatchso you are the CEO of design, huh?

I love how they mention and show the other phones and thier brands to show how they got inspired and how they got unique 7:07 😮❤
Man, u remind the days of old. The pitch in your feelings of expressing the old phones made this session more interesting.
It's really cool that Nothing has been really open about their phones and where they're inspiration comes from.

How is this company and its people so chill and making a video like this showing other phones even from competitors.. Damn
Nokia n95's ui was the game changer for me. Went from blocky icons to a ui that felt alive.
Love that the company informs its users frequently with this type of videos also with chance to win a phone 2a ❤
It is amazing how these old phones are still working
I've been in need of a new phone and been lacking the money lately, i love you guys products so please, let me get hooked to your brand !

Looking forward to see how the features look in the OS 3.0! Hope the Phone 1 gets this version as well.
