- What is the Gcam? How to install the Google Camera? Is the Gcam worth it in 2023?
These are some of the questions I get the most in the photo comparison videos I do, and I will give you the answer in less than 5 minutes.
The procedure to install it is simple:
1- Check if it is compatible with Camera2 API.
2- Download and install a GCAM:
3- If you have any problem, just search for an exact configuration for your phone model.
And that's it.
The most noticeable changes will be seen in mid-range and low-end phones. On high-end phones too, but it depends on the situation: night mode or where a good dynamic range is required.

it defo worked on my OnePlus8Pro tho i did test this in 2020 and it was way better with color tone and
even looked sharper. i was happy that the green tint to my photos was not there at the time
tho i do believe editing or color correcting after the fact is a good practice

in my phone only legacy is ticked {its an android one phone - mi A1} can i install gcam in it
I tried a few different GCAM versions on my Moto G Power 5G 2024 and when comparing to the stock camera app it reveals stock photos are over sharpened which cheapens the quality of the photos, also GCAM photos have a little more brightness pop and better background details, for example tree leaves in the distance look compressed & lacking detail with stock but with GCAM you can still make out the individual leaves, Motorola could definitely tune the camera software better but its nice GCAM is an option, Camera2 API probe shows Level 3 for this phone.
On Camera 2 API, it is showing that my camera is not level 2. So, can i install like an older version or any other?
It would be interesting to see a comparison between the GCam pictures on the Nothing Phone and the GCam pictures of the S23.

It's pointless to put it in an antivirus, it won't have any viruses. If they want to get you they won't use viruses cause guess what? You don't need a virus if the person installs your app, you can always leave backdoors in the app and basically remote control their device at any time or intercept data. So don't worry about antivirus software, it won't help.
True. I bet a lot of apps have backdoors. But i guess android sandbox is good enough to protect us as long there are not system level permissions for the app

Idk what settimg youre using but in MOST cases Gcam is better. But u guess that depends on the settings. My Gcam takes better images than the stock s22 ultra. Samsungs shitty post processing and ai enhancements ruin some images. To much sharpening too. Gcam gives you that nice hdr without overshapening and without that shitty AI
