Pentatonix is based in Los Angeles, but the city outside the windows here is Manhattan because at this point Kirstie is doing a three-month appearance on Broadway in the musical Kinky Boots. Pentatonix has a running theme of using couches in their music videos, from the early days when they couldn't afford any sets or location shoots and would shoot videos sitting on a shabby couch in one of their apartments. I like to think that this setting in a Manhattan high-rise with luxurious furniture is a commentary on how far they had come.
This is from March, 2018. Matt Sallee had auditioned to replace Avi in 2017, had done some recording and a video for their 2017 Christmas album as a guest artist, and performed with them for the 2017 Christmas tour, but but this was his first video as an official member of the group.
YAY!!! I love this one, too!! Kevin and Matt KILL the beatboxing and bass. PTX mashups are always brilliant and creative. I also agree with the La La Latch request!
That is the insane genius of their mashups. Two songs that you would never think to put together, but they make it flawless EVERY SINGLE TIME. Even going all the way back to The Sing Off in 2011 when they mixed Since You've Been Gone and Forget You. C'mon, who could imagine mixing Kelly Clarkson and CeeLo Green?? Only PTX!
They just meant that this is the first album where Matt is the official bass. Another great video from this album is the highly overlooked cover of Attention by Charlie Puth. Matt is awesome in it!
Those bel tones are my fave bits in the whole mash-up. Not sure if it's Mitch, Kevin or Kirstie doing them or if it's a mix of two or all three. It would be Matt's first time as full bass duties, helping with the beats.
Pentatonix bell-tones FTW! I love this one. As noted downthread, La La Latch is an earlier mashup with a super-sophisticated arrangement. This is an early appearance, by bass Matt Sallee, who replaced original member Avi Kaplan. Beatboxer (and cellist/tenor) Kevin Olusola is an original member.
They’re called BELL TONES and they also do them in SOUND OF SILENCE. Of all of the looks that Mitch has this one is my least favorite. I call it the Italian gigolo look. I’m glad it was short-lived. 🤭 🤗💋🥰
“La La Latch”is another really awesome mashup.

Another one of their amazing mashups is La La Latch.

This was the first PTX official video with their new Bass Matt Sallee, Avi Kapland left the group about 3 months prior.
Deck The Halls was the first Matt video.
Recommend their mashup of Butter x Dynamite.

Matt and Kevin just kill it in this.
One of my all time favourites matt and kevin bouncing off each other at the beginning was brilliant 👍

Kevin and Matt are fire on this! And also on their original, Coffee In Bed!!

I believe the bell tones are done by Mitch, Kirsie, and Scott.
The bell tones are made by Kirstie, Scott and Mitch
I love their mashups! Please check out their version of Kissed by a Rose.
I’m SO GLAD you reacted to this!!! This has been in my top #10 PTX song since the first time I saw the video. ♥️
Loved that!!! That bass and rhythm was crazy, then throw in that human ping run?? you said it Bad AZZ!!
I love the bell chimes they do in this song! You'd swear they were real bells! 💖
The energy they were giving out is infectious. Thanks.

Try La La Latch. Another great mashup
Love this cover! Matt and Kevin are on 🔥
I'm so glad you did this one, it is one of my favorites! This is a master piece!
No, Kevin have always been the beatboxer. it was Matt's first introduction as the bass of the group
Yes I love this too - Great Reaction!
Just came upon your channel. Saw Pentatonix reaction and immediately subscribed. Greetings from South Africa
You might mean Matt , the bass singer who replaced Avi. Kevin, the beatboxed, has been with them since the sing-off competition.
The part that you liked is also my favorite part
I knew you would like this - those were bell tones you heard -
