- Hi guys, Suzie and I are at Motorcycle Live and we've just had a chance to see the new BSA B65 Scrambler, its based on the Goldstar 650 but with some key changes that orient this bike towards more off-road work.

We get the Bear and then we get this lovely. Bear is good but I think the single cylinder suits this type of bike better than a twin.

the bear was probably a response to the BSA scrambler concept bike that came out last year. great to see BSA have scrubbed it up and done a nice job.

@@BSAroadrocketNa, the spyshots of Bear had been doing rounds here in India for a bit over two years, a scrambler based on Interceptor was announced even earlier.

Love this vid Babe, well done. Its hard to understand how hard it is to film under pressure, on a time limit to be as quick as poss, with all the noise and pekole around. We had audio issues to add to that and you still smashed it as always. Thanks for a wonderful weekend making memories with you. Yes, very cool -- even better if it had a chrome front mudguard plus silver side panels and a yellow headlight surround to match the tank.

The paint is an homage to the 1968 BSA B44 Victor Special
Which came from the world championship winning machines
If the tank isn’t alloy, it should be.
To claim an appealing lineage, B65 Victor Special would have been an appropriate name
Heritage brand recognition is a quantifiable value. Which is why they are bought by manufacturers for that marketing purpose. It’s the reason, for example that the Triumph motorcycle brand exists today. It’s regrettable that the modern homages need to be so heavy but legislation demands that they are dynamically safe and environmentally responsible; and economics that they are priced to find their market and acceptably profitable. I’ve no doubt that often offer a rewarding ownership experience but, personally, I value lower weight and higher quality components. I own 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s originals and, of course, they are compromised too.

Nice first look and a great vid Sean. I think this scrambler style of the retro genre will really hit the sweet spot for many and I am sure it will sell well. I am there next Saturday and can't wait.

I sat on this bike a few hours ago at the NEC Show, and chatted to the representative on the stand. Same engine as the Gold Star that I test rode recently and really liked. Arriving in dealers next year around the same time as the Royal Enfield 'Bear', which gives us motorcyclists an interesting choice of options. Looking forward to some road tests next spring.

I prefer this to the RE scrambler just relaesed . Well done on getting a video out under public conditions at this show. I would probably go and have a look myself, if it weren't for the people 😂

Que hermosa moto en mi juventud fanatico de esta marca e tenido BSA 350 , BSA 500 del año 1948 eran motos muy buenas en esa época cero electronica las arreglaba yo y moto para miles de km hoy tengo una Royal 350 Meteor va muy bien para lo que es no dudaría en tener esta BSA lástima nunca lleguen a Argentina saludos lo mejor para ustedes gracias por el video volvi a mi juventud tenia 20 años hoy ya con 64 y espero seguir disfrutando de las dos ruedas .

It's look much better than Bear 650 tbh! B650 looks kinda subtle like a regular motorcycle but this looks both subtle and aggressively beautiful.

Love a 650 single. I am stuck with my interceptor which is a great bike but this is the bike i really wanted. If you bought one and the dealership went under it's not the end of the world , rotax are still a going concern and the servicing is pretty straight forward. I hope BSA survive 😁👍

Very encouraging that BSA has intentions of launching the B65 in a couple of years. I'm curious how it'll compare to the RE Bear, but personally I prefer the character of a big single.
Should my BMW X country ever need replacing, then I'm happy to know BSA have an apparently handsome alternative.
Looks elegant Sean, in some form. The finish looks more premium. Gutted am not attending. Was due to hook up with Glyn. But, due to holding off on booking the flights and hotel had gone up by £100. So decided it wasn’t worth it.😢

It looks absolutely incredible. Even better than the RE Bear and that is a handsome bike. Just please... F off with digital clocks already. Do manufacturers not know their customers? Regular Goldstar has the best looking analog clocks on the market imo, and they use this rubbish toy thing for a scrambler. Made me so angry, my god... Thanks for the vid tho! Great work.

I have not payed too much attention to BSA so far to be honest. That bike looks really nice indeed. I am (naively!) wondering, why at that relatively low power (very similar to RE 650 engines) it needs water cooling (and such a large cooler at that).
I think that's way better looking than the bear 650 ✌🏼✌🏼😎
650 ccm single as scrambler, i personally find this visually better as the RE Bear 650

Some nice styling cues there. I think they've definitely learned lessons from the Gold Star and if the price us right, it should be a good seller. A lot of people have said they like the RE Bear, but wish it were a single and now they have a choice. By the way, Sean, you definitely have that "kid in a sweetshop" look about you today! Looking forward to your take on the other exhibits...

This was on show a year ago. Different exhaust but apart from that identical. Will we see this again in another 12 months at shows or are they actually releasing it?

Thanks for making this video. Great to see rhem bringing out a new model. HOWEVER, there's no other info about it on their official site, which is worrying and bizarre. 2. Any mew GOLDSTAR 650 models there? You'd expect at least a new colour or some minor change to it? Again, nothing new is worrying and bizarre.
3. Any BSA reps with useful new info that we couldn't find ourselves?

Only new model is the Shadow Black as far as the GS is concerned. There's also the Bantam planned....
@MindfulMotorcyclist thanks. The black is already on the market and the entry level colour in Spain , sadly I prefer the most expensive Legacy one. 🤷♂️

Yep i like the look of that ,but think the Royal Enfield Bear offers a bit more but nice to see BSA switching it up a bit and upgrading a few details like switch gear ect .
This has been kept relatively quiet compared with the Bear 650 which is sort of a shame as this engine has genuine dual-sport heritage from the F650 bikes!

Nice! We won't get them over here in these (once again...at last!) United States of America, but if we do and they are priced competitively they will sell. Unless of course the dealers add $2,000+ in fees to make up for the discount of $1,000 off msrp.
When it comes to motorbikes and cars, England has so many more choices than does America. The bikes most certainly do because of the tiered licensing you have there but still, in the '60s I could mow enough lawns to save up the money to buy a Benelli Mini-Bike at the local Sears. Happenstance of corpulent size (i.e., fat chance) that will ever come again. 🙂

That a good looking bike, especially in the Victor paint sceme and the projected price is £6,500 a bargain if they bring it in at that.
My worry would be a year later they will be selling new for £5000. As the Gold Star and Interceptor are doing now.
@@splodge57 I think the market has had an adjustment this year and is unlikely to plummet again in the near future.
Like the high fender in the front, yelow/metal color combination, what they did with the engine and probably the riding experience.
A shame that BSA has no dealer in Belgium.

Looks ok , guessing it’s quite heavy for a scram but it’s probably going to get used more on roads unless you are hardcore like yourself. Hopefully it will not have the cutting out issues like a number of the Goldstars still have. Looks old school with no nasty lumpy old carburettors 😜

WOW! Lovely, I'd look super cool on that, like Steve McQueen, even though I'm a girl. A big no, for the RE Bear, was that electronic clock telling me when it needs a service. Looks like this has the same. So probably needs to be plugged into a computer for diagnostics?

one of the options for my next bike is this...or RE Bear. I will try both, but finally most probably I will buy KTM 390 adventure R.
I like this bike visually more then Bear, but I love sound of twin engine because I had TRiumph Bonneville 865cc.
If you want to go off road, do not buy bear or B65...

I might be wrong, but the scrambler was a 441cc called the Victor.
Evidently developing a Gold Star to meet NHTSA and DOT safety standards for the North American market took a back seat to producing the scrambler iteration.

A rival in looks to the Triumph 400 X. This may just be the bike that knocks Fantic Scrambler 500 Rally off its top spot on my list of most desirable bikes.
I also liked the Fantic rally but can you buy one in 2024? They are £7.5k plus and the market has changed so much now, new bikes from competitors can be had for £5-6k that are more powerful and established brands...
@@MindfulMotorcyclist, but are they as light and are they scramblers? I've not yet seen a better power to weight scrambler than the Cab Rally which has great ground clearance to boot.
Suzuki DR-Z4 is the one. 151kg wet and the same power as the cab...

hate to be picky of critical but a third colour would have been nice, perhaps with a different coloured frame. 2 options = dilemma. 3 options = choice - according to Confucius anyway

All those improvements and they still stick a radiator on it from a family car? What drugs are their so called "designer's" consuming? Still, looking on the bright side, with the 75 percent depreciation these BSA bikes command in the first 6 months (literally) it might be worth buying one in 6 months and fitting a radiator from maybe a KTM 690 (or frankly any motorcycle as opposed to a car) which is half the size or even just taking the radiator off your own car after it fails its MOT because it will still be smaller and better looking. My theory is that whatever global(ist) brand now owns BSA, they decided to use up all the spare stock of car/truck radiators they happened to have lying around in the warehouse to bolt onto these otherwise really nicely styled bikes. Talk about taking a silk purse and turning it into a sows ear.
