- Don't Cheat At Chess: What Chess.com Is Doing to Catch Cheaters!
In this video, IM Daniel Rensch reviews what's Chess.com is doing about cheaters using the website and goes over the fair play protocol on Chess.com. Cheating is an issue that Chess.com takes seriously. Using our cheat detection logic it's led to some breakthroughs. We will continue to act conservatively yet forcefully when we believe cheating is taking place. We will continue to do the right thing and close accounts when cheating is taking place even if it's difficult decision.

I'm inconsistent and had games where I "played" better than titled players. Thing is the games are shorter and I know a line that my opponent is playing (Queens Wayward Attack) Others I have 55% acuracy

I only get this when my opponent suddenly surrenders after an early blunder lol

@Dan R ok man, is dlc free or paid?
It's quite disturbing when I play someone lower rated than myself who starts out making average moves and then, when the position becomes difficult, suddenly starts playing like a grandmaster. This always raises a red flag for me.
Dude, what you said is very frustrating.
This actually IS my strategy on many occasions and the strategy of many others, depending on whom we're playing (ie really low rating), and it can be confusing to them.
I recently opened a chess dot com account because of the lockdown and I have played close to three hundred games, one hundred games of which I sac the knight in the opening to break my opponent's pawn structure, and then after I demolish the opponent who thought "he was a piece up" he says "you cheated", when in fact he simply sucks and makes ridiculous blunders that are not visible.
So it goes both ways.
I also like to clown around, and then if things get serious, I get serious. I'm not titled, but I used to play in tournaments when I was young, and was close to 1900s playing against titled players in the local chess club, so I have a very strong game. However, I blunder very often (as dumb as forgetting a queen exposed), it can be catastrophic. Other than that though, my game can be very solid, not always, but in general. And it becomes very frustrating when some random dude whom I'm demolishing says "you cheated". That's bullshit.
And if I may add, "binge playing" when drunk, or half asleep or talking to your wife who's sitting across the other couch and reading a book or pestering you with kisses, is also a way to obliterate your ranking in one night, only to have a good reason to fix it the next day or on the weekend.
If I suspect someone is cheating, ie has a very machine like game, I usually quit and move on. From what I gather this is usually an issue in the 1300 - 1500 range where chaos of vying for placement exists. I am saying this because I know how good (and how bad) I am, and that I should be around upper 1800s to mid 1900s from what I remember (which I only finally managed recently), and it took me herculean, insane effort to get out of the 1300s to 1500s mud in blitz. There were players there in the 1300s making moves and positional chess I would only expect in the 1900s range. So my rule became only one game per person. No rematch. Then my ranking grew faster as a result. Before, I was stuck trying to defeat a 1300s player who would just obliterate me, and I knew I was playing against Rybka or Tarrash when the second and third and fourth game was just insane abs the same: total obliteration, I mean it wasn't even close, it was a piece up and merciless destruction of my troops. Nevertheless, unless this player was a concealed master or grandmaster, it's unlikely I would be obliterated in this manner from someone at 1300, repeatedly. In fact, I should be winning comfortably the vast majority of games. I also met a dude on the completely opposite end of the spectrum, who must have been on a spree to give away all pieces without taking any. Whatever drugs he must have been on that night was awesome.
Now in the upper ranks I get more of a plateau which is what one should expect. Fewer people feel the need to cheat in the upper ranks. I can see my progress graph is leveling out right now, and I'd expect I'll need to work really hard to exceed the 1900s range, possibly for months.
In any case, the point is for the initial comment on this thread that things in life, like in chess, go both ways, and have various causes. You can't assume that someone destroying you when they are a piece down is definitely cheating.
I don't know my openings. Soon as the game gets moving though, the pieces make sense. They help each other. I may not know how to set up early game, but I can do well in mid-late game. Maybe others just don't know openings and learn the end game

“Be kind, because you can’t rewind”
The issue isn't that you can't get cheaters on time, the issue is that anyone can create a new account and just go troll people using an engine and even if you ban that specific person nothing is keeping him to come back and it all over again. Maybe consider the option to have verified profiles that just match with verified profiles so banning people might actually have some meaning, its really annoying when you play versus someone that is 1200 rated but then again puts up better moves then stockfish.

You can use a strategy against the computer where you get full development and the commuter doesn't' know what to do lol.
I got a brilliant idea. You should compare titled player's accuracy before and during tourneys. You will be surprised!
One time increase in accuracy over an average is common. They compare move times, engine comparison and probably zither factors that they’ve noticed between humans and humans using engines. I found using a phone engine didn’t get me banned (years ago) if I duplicated the game on my phone and only made engine moves occasionally. That likely would have got me found eventually the inconsistency is too great but a GM might manage a little longer (outside titled Tuesday like events) because the inconsistency would be more natural. It also would probably hurt them in blitz time controls tho.
To be fair though, I wouldn't be that surprised to find that people play 100s of elo better in important games. I know my rating can fluctuate between 1400 and 1700 depending on how much attention I'm paying
I played a few times in tournaments and I'm consistently better because I'm super focused and not just casually making any moves. Also I'm being a little bit more conservative because I don't want to risk something. So it's probably extremely hard to really determine if people are cheating
I had a brilliant start to a Titled Tuesday one time. 3-0 vs IM, GM, GM. People started messaging me saying I was a cheater and I fell apart. Probably would have anyway, but we need to cut out this crap about one time results. Anybody can perform 400+ pts above their rating over 10 games.
