I agree with Leo about Steve (No I'm not trolling) the character actually forces them to get out of their comfort zone while playing, and not to be the same old rinse and repeat type of gameplay.
I agree as well. Steve is SUPER good but I never thought he should be banned until PMLG came out. However, PMLG is banned and isn't used, so I don't think Steve should be banned anymore.
I DO think players need to learn the match-ups and study the Steve MU more often. Acola and Onin both lose to different players piloting different characters. Like Leo said, Steve does struggle against a good amount of characters. I hate how people think Cloud is the only character that can challenge Steve when ZSS, Corrin, Marcina, Sephiroth, Hero, Robin, and Min Min exist. He might not hard lose any MUs but most characters can still defeat him.

@@Spyder-MarthSteve does not need to be banned. That being said your exaggerating by saying Steve loses to a lot of characters. The only 2 characters that you could say Steve really loses to is cloud and maybe sephiroth. Steve can lose to anyone in the cast via player dif, but the character himself barely loses to any other character and is without question the best character.

Smash 64 is the coolest smash game in almost every way, combos can be very creative (so much so that there is a contest to see who is the coolest), some very cool storylines like isai winning smashcon recently and playing the game since 1999, and the character balance is better than people think it is because most of the cast can do a good combo so the tier list boils down to who has the best neutral and recovering

My hot take is that there should be a shorter time limit than 7:00 minutes in Ultimate.

@@shmoeg Sure, but it knocks down how long those matches already. I think it'd make for an interesting experiment. Camping play styles aren't gonna change, but then they'd also have less time to get a substantial, chip-away lead. Plus the aggressive player clutches would maybe be within a smaller percentage/stock, more achievable to win margin then too.
Or a Sonic apocalypse. I dunno. 😂

I don't know if this is a hot take, but I think it's not as easy to learn all the different matchups as people say. First of all, many characters can be played in a variety of different ways that each require different counterplay, so only having practice against one or two players may not be enough. And even more importantly is the question of accessibility: to learn a particular matchup well, someone will need a sufficiently good player of that character in their local scene (which may be rare) who is willing to grind with them (arguably even more rare, especially if they see that player as "worse" than them or if they don't need matchup practice with that person's character); wifi allows for slightly better access, but there's still the matter of good players often not being willing to grind.
In Japan, while I don't know how willing high level players are to grind, this is still less of an issue. It's a much denser region with great character variety and a lot of good players, so it's easier to find someone to grind a matchup with, and their wifi is much better. Of course, the issue of different playstyles for the same characters is still present, but that requires extensive experience against many good players of the character, which can be even harder to obtain.
This is all coming from a student of the game who knows pretty much all there is to know on paper, but who still gets matchup checked a lot.
Actually, if they continued copying what panda did, I would actually watch more.
Make them play a different character for an hour or two and then just compile the footage together
Make them do challenges (spike kill only, down smash only kills, first to 10 wins, etc)
Make them do battles with each other
Just literally do what panda did. And keep doing these things too.

Here's my *hot take:* Kazuya is overrated. Where are all the Kazuyas now that Riddles is focusing on SF6?
He's good but he's not Top 5.
It's a counterpick character, acola, tea, and i guess there are those pool kazuyas
Axiom, Ferps, Wildz, Tarik, and Modzai are also really good Kazuya’s, but yeah, the amount of Kazuya’s I’ve seen in top 64 significantly decreased once Riddles stopped going to as many events
@@Trattt Kind of strengthens my point. How can a counterpick character be Top 5? Being Top 5 is all about not having to swap for MUs. The better your character the less you have to swap, this is where MU charts come into play and why so many people base their tier-list off of them.
Even though Kazuya is overrated, his gameplay is absolutely not fun to watch

Ultimate is the most balanced game for sure, the only one you could consider to be better is Smash 64 but that's so far removed from other games it's hard to compare.
Ultimate is the most balanced for sure, Melee is second because almost all the character have a busted attribute so in a way its balanced, plus there is no single busted character. Then I'd say 64, Sm4sh and Brawl

If Smash didn't buff nor nerf fighters, but instead focused on their CANON powers, Shulk could win ANY fight because he can see the future!
Seeing the future is useless if Kirby can just punch the ground and shatter the planet. Shulk can't breathe in space.

I agree with this. I been saying since Ultimate came out, people are so fixated on how he was on Smash4 that they say he has a bad recovery. In reality it is serviceable just exploitable. He is like top 12 in terms of air speed that is already saying a lot.
True, Mac is harder to edge guard than ppl say. Everyone says that Mac is easy to edgeguard and while he is, 90% of ppl who say that never edgeguard a Mac who knows what he’s doing

Dude as much as people talk about how carried GnW players are, how many of them are in the top 100-150 players? I'm pretty sure it's just Miya and Maister. There's probably more Olimar players in there.

@@free3793 Joker has plenty of representation but I think pika just isn't as good as people think. I say that as a pika main. I suppose there are a lot of characters that are good but just painful to pick up though.

@@GavinJ06 Pikachu is one of the best edge guarders in the game and has the best recovery. Nair loops do %45 , pancakes etc. Game and watch is pretty carried is my main point

As a Luigi main... He should be higher than B+ at least A- on the tier list. But he definitely isn't top 20.

This arguement doesn't make sense. Requiring difficult execution isn't a reason for a character to be top 20... By this arguement Sheik would be top 3.
I also don't get why looking at a player who's not even top 20 is a arguement for why his character is top 20.
melee is definitely more balanced than ultimate. half the time it feels like ultimate's design philosophy is to give a character something that no character should ever have, and then make them completely useless or outright unfunctional in other aspects. For example, its widely agreed that smash ultimate kirby has some of the best tilt attacks in the game, but he also has an awful air speed, a horrible recovery, dair is useless, etc. I think it may be way more compelling to have a game where every character is just okay in nearly every aspect, with nothing that sticks out as clearly overpowered, and I believe that's what melee is, at least among its roster of viable characters.
Also, saying that ultimate is balanced because its balance is better than sm4sh and brawl does not mean that it is balanced, its just more balanced than those games.
Smash Bros for the next game needs to add different special B, like with the Miis, but with the characters, that's the game changer
