1h is very long time o heat up Tesla, so that is why rear heater went off, its main purpose is to get all ice off. Snow is super hard to melt, because it needs to fall to the glass before it can melt, compared to ice, that is directly on glass, so all waste energy goes directly to the ice. that is why usually 10-15min is enough to get all the ice off from windows and snow is lot faster just brush away, but if you have plenty of energy to waste and you remember to set car to warm up early, you may save from yourself couple minutes, when you don't need to brush any snow on top of the car :D
