I think Apple does need to delay their product launches. Maybe go to a 2 year cycle for the iPhone at least. Not only will this bring back the hype when new iPhones do get announced but it can save money and time for both Apple and the customers as resources can be more strategically delegated. Imagine how many iPhones from previous generations were never sold and would have to be dismantled just to reuse to resources for new iPhones. That is money and time Apple needs to spent on building an iPhone that never got used. Going to a 2 year cycle release schedule for products will allow better product production management and potentially keeping things affordable due to the savings obtained from this change. A 2 year cycle will most likely have people camping outside Apple stores again.. or website.

@@mynk_rjputYou need to look at respected companies across other industries… releasing new products often does not build consumer confidence nor engineering excellence.
Respected companies focus their attention on quality, R&D and market cycles… not just pumping out a constant array of minor updated products. The environmental factor is also at play.

    • @morciego
      @morciego 2 месяца назад +2

@@mynk_rjputwhy do you think the products get delayed? They set unrealistic timeframes for themselves to try to push out a product that is not fully ready. There is nothing wrong with pushing back release cycles if it means actually getting the product out in time with the desired features. They can always release the product sooner if it becomes ready.

I agree it would be nice if they new phones were released Avery 2 years because upgrades would seen bigger that being said it isn’t good because then whey would be spending money for 2 years and would have to increase the price significantly so they get a profit in a timely manner so they can use said profit to fund the research on stuf for the next phone .
Which my point is people need to stop blaming Apple for its ‘ lack of innovation’ I know they are a bit slow in getting stuff but they are picky about stuff being perfect and it’s not like they are the only people with basically no innovation it’s 2024 technology is stupidity advanced and is gona take a while to improve in a impressive amount if it can at all stop blaming Apple when every other company is doing the same things

I’m a die hard Apple fan…fully engrained into their ecosystem of products. BUT, I agree that Apple has lost its “it factor” in a sense by having a convoluted product lineup. Frankly, it’s a little confusing and they could be doing a lot of things better/different! Tim Cook’s time has passed, and they need to stop “delays” and give people what they want NOW, vs. making us wait ten versions of iPhone to get something Samsung had a decade ago. Less, is often more!

I think Apple should not just skip product generations to have more time to improve products. They have the man power and the brains to do so. I don't think it is about Tim Cook stepping down either. I Think it is about shifting goals to customer expectations, while keeping Apple as a profitable company. They do spend a lot on R&D but they need to shift that focus. That's all.

The problem has very little to do with Apple, it’s just tech in general. Tech overall has stagnated in the consumer sector for many years now. A big part of that in my opinion, is the consumer. People are more and more happy with what they have so the Tech industry can remain complacent in doing iterative upgrades. Until people stop buying the latest this and the latest that, these companies will just continue doing what they are doing. When it comes to the iPhones in general, they have changed very little since the iPhone X / 10. People continue to buy them. Although the improvements they have made over the years have made the overall general experience better, people that desire that latest new thing, have been left wanting more. The problem, those type of people are less, and less. Although I agree with what you said, you are a tech enthusiast. The general public anymore could care less, and want something that is similar so they do not have to learn new things, or adapt to another new product. Society has become that way in general. I would assume that most people that watch your channel are also enthusiasts, or they would not be looking for the latest and greatest news about Apple products, the majority of people that own iPhones, and Apple products, which is proven out by their sales numbers, could care less about The New Thing. I had sold cell phones for almost a decade and saw this shift many years ago. Lastly Apple has never been at the forefront when it came to phone tech accept for the first iPhone. They have lived by the saying, we don’t do it first, but we do it the best. That has served them very well over the years with consumer’s agreeing. As someone once mentioned, there is only so much you can do with a slab of glass, the rumor of them doing a foldable phone next year, is a bit late to the party. Much like their last wearable thing. When competitors launched many of their products years ago, Apple was nowhere to be found. Now unfortunately, that ship has sailed. Items like that may have been seen as new or innovative now sit on store shelves. Apple comes in saying “Ours Is The Best One”. No one cares because that tech never caught on. It’s like the whole Fitness Ring craze. They are no where to be found, and by the time they get to launching one, the market will have already have been way over saturated with devices. Most already compatible with iPhones. Lastly, I often share your dismay with the innovation we have seen over the past many years, until people stop buying the same old thing, they will keep making the same old products.

It was just easier to innovate when the products were less feature rich, but now it´s hard to come up with something that´s not a gimmick. Big step would be to finally ditch iOS and iPadOS and base everything on the full macOS, they already share the same processors etc. that would be wild to run full desktop apps on any device.

I really thought the Vision Pro Goggles were a cool idea until, when I bought my new iPad Pro, I spied the machine used to setup the prescription lensing on the goggles. Now my, less expensive, Nikon Z6II has a diopter on the view finder which adjusts for whatever/whoever's vision in a twist of the dial almost instantly. Why didn't Apple do this since the goggles would then have family (and friends) appeal and, hence, sell more (once the price comes down to a bit more realistic).

  • @pedrosikes

I think Apple is doing great things with its hardware and software up dates by making new customizing features to the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. But that being said they also need to listen to their customers for ideas and improvements on existing apps ,hardware and software. For instance the Decibel Level app. (which I use all the time.)I think this is a good app but could be great .I would like to see this get an upgrade. I think they should add a few more colors to represent the db levels like orange and red. Eg. - 85-90 db’s should be orange and 95-100 db’s should be red. I think this would be very helpful with a visual prompt. Also may be an optional threshold alarm. What do think about that? After all we use are apple devices for every facet of our lives now. The iPhone virtually made the digital camera, the alarm clock, the kitchen timer, calculator, the portable CD player/radio and GPS totally obsolete. People now consider losing their iPhone worse than their wallet. In fact some people don’t even carry a physical wallet at all. I think concentrating on improving hardware, software and battery life is the key to making Apple customers happy. Most people wouldn’t be able to function a day without their iPhone.

I think Apple is in a position today where they have a ton of advantages. Scale, talent. I do think that they need to be careful about overextending themselves and too many of the same product does add risk. However, the iPhone is now a very mature product and major iterative changes/innovations are very hard to achieve year over year. They are now bumping up against technical limitations of the current state of the art. The key advantage apple has today that it did not have in the 80’s and 90’s is the ecosystem. I believe that a walled garden is necessary to keep them from being just an also-ran. If you want that you have Android and the lower quality threshold that brings. Tim Cook will never be the visionary that Steve Jobs was, but he knows how to run a business very well. The collective Apple team needs to handle that innovative responsibility. They have lots of smart talent there.

I feel like people anymore just want more more more. I think what we have is insanely good and they still improve it every year. I don’t feel like every single year just HAS to be ground breaking just like every year people don’t NEED to buy a new phone. Several years of upgrades compound to making one larger improvement when people do decide to upgrade.
I can agree with the focusing on too many things at once. There are some things that are likely not worth the investment for Apple from my perspective when they do something that do it well. I like knowing that when we get a new feature, it’s reliable and one of the best versions of that feature out there, even if they aren’t overall the most versatile or customizable. There’s a lot to appreciate and people should stop being overly critical just because they’ve been so spoiled by all the great things they’ve already gotten consistently.

I’m more old school when it comes to this but I’m more focused on a phone that works well for what I need. I’m not too worried about the bells and whistles and what not. Sure, there’s features out there that Apple has applied later than Android phones but they’re more polished versions. I’ve been an iPhone user for the past 10 years and they’re the only smartphones I’ve ever owned but before that I used to have basic phones from Verizon before switching to Straight Talk, which ironically they’re now owned by Verizon.
I’ve been on an iPhone 8 Plus for 4 years that’s at 73% battery capacity which I believe that’s pretty solid for all things considered especially with how in the older days you’d be lucky if a phone was at 70% capacity after 2 years. I have plans on upgrading to a 15 and I know that I’ll have quite some adjusting to do without a home button and Touch ID but I could easily see myself owning that new phone for at least 2 years. Under normal circumstances I would keep a phone for that long but I think that if you upgrade every year, you’re not even really getting the most potential use out of your phone.

I predicted this when Jobs passed away and Tim Cook was named CEO - well sort of. I said at the time, Cook is a numbers guy and that Apple products would become boring with lack of innovation. Some people had called for Jony Ives to take over and I’m so glad he DIDN’T. Ives just was too hung up on minimalism. Apple bought the rights to a tech called Liquid Metal, yet they’ve never found a way to utilize it (other than the SIMS card tool). How long have we been waiting for a foldable? I’m not an engineer, and I’m sure it’s complicated to do, but come on, it’s Apple. If anyone should be able to do it right, it’s Apple. At least that’s what we expect. What Apple had was the perfect trifecta and I’m not sure it can ever be replicated, but I hope so. They had Jobs, the dreamer who had a vision, and was demanding down to the smallest detail and unforgiving. They had Ives, who could take those ideas and make them into a functioning form. Who along with Jobs worried about the smallest of details. And then you had Cook who was the master at supply chain and manufacturing.

At some point on or before Dec 28th Apple will only be selling usb-c equipped iPhones. That means the 16 pro and pro max, 16 and16 plus,15 and 15 plus and, at some point, the new to be SE-4. Now of course they could still sell new lightning equipped phones outside the EU but how would that affect their logistics? While other companies made a 120hz display standard 4 years ago, Apple is still using it as an upgrade selling point. Lagging that far behind is gonna hurt them. The Moto G 5G full price is $200 and has a 120 display, but an $800 flagship can’t pull it off.

It's an interesting theory. I believe Apple should take more time-maybe a year or two-when developing and innovating new products. It feels like the latest Apple products are being rushed, pushing consumers to upgrade too quickly. For example, instead of releasing an iPad Pro with the M3 chip, they jumped straight to a faster and sleeker M4 model. This marketing approach could be applied to all of Apple's products.

When you consider that average phones have peak lifespans of 2 years, it makes all the sense in the world to build the next phone in a 2 year span so then if people want to upgrade they can and if not, there’s still time for more software updates and what not. So if the time in between an iPhone 16 to a 17 gets pushed to 2 years instead of just 1 year, that could be a perfect medium for everybody involved.

I very much believe that macOS has run its useful lifespan. There are still a few interesting features like Undo Send in Mail and tags in Notes (although that's been driving me bonkers, quite frankly.) We have everything we *need* in macOS. Now they're just trying to keep people hooked with features which aren't useful. And the more of these features they introduce, the more we become to depend on them. A classic example of 'what we didn't know we couldn't live without.' We didn't know because we don't need it.

I strongly resonate with Steve Jobs' insights from the video you shared. I genuinely hope that Apple takes the time to revisit its archives and explore innovative avenues to give its products a fresh and contemporary appeal. As a pioneer in the realm of innovation, it’s disappointing to see Apple pause in its commitment to meaningful change. Given its legacy of setting the standard for groundbreaking advancements, I believe it’s crucial for Apple to reignite that spirit agin and continue leading the industry with impactful transformations.

I loved how apple used to have 1 major update and one upgrade version. Like iphone 4 and 4s. Now all the iphones are the same. The screen is slightly better but at a point that the normal person wouldn't see the difference, or an upgraded camera. I've come to the point where I don't mind holding my phone for a few years rather than upgraded every other year like I used too. But I feel like all phones have kind of hit a plateau. I do agree that Apple have fell behind its competitors. Every year we all expect and wait for the new iPhone to be released and see how much it differs from the previous iPhone. But every year now it’s literally just same same but with a slightly better camera or better chip inside and for me who as had an iPhone from day one and stuck with it till now and am just bored. I’ve always preferred IOS over Android system which is the only reason why I still have an iPhone. But I am now ready to switch to a Samsung especially the Flip. Why, well to me it just looks nice and it fits better in your pocket. I would even go for the fold again because it’s different it’s quirky. I’ve been hoping for the last couple of years now that Apple would bring their own version of a flip out but each year just more of the same. Even Motorola, Servo, Blackview, Oppo, just to name just a few. Apple used to be the leading brand miles ahead of its nearest competitor Samsung but now I would say the pendulum has started to swing into Samsungs favour. Fingers crossed Apple will bring a Flip phone out sooner rather than later because the demand is there it’s just that everyone is buying one else because Apple for whatever reason keep dragging their heels too scared to bring another alternative to compete with and would rather copy and paste every single year.

I miss the Easter Eggs! The About This Mac often listed the OS team and in the original Mac the inside had the hardware team. What that gave them was ownership so they didn’t skip or discount the edge cases where things could fail or would reduce the lifespan of the device.
A case in point the 2016 systems shouldn’t have shipped with the running hot CPUs as Intel failed the thermals and baked the displays T-CON bd as it was to close to the Heatsink. The butterfly keyboard and not holding onto MagSafe. All three of this issue have now been fixed but it too much to long it should have only taken a year not five.
Innovation yes! Pride and Quality are also important too!

I was in middle school and that of course influenced me to jailbreak my phone, peer pressure maybe, we are at the point where jailbreaking is the most useless thing you can do. With iOS 18 and what’s to come after there’s absolutely no point in jailbreaking unless you just wanna void your warranty. I think it is way too risky to do now with all the security concerns. What more can you do with a smartphone. Add more cameras, bigger screens, foldable, bendable or a Dick Tracy watch. Consumers demand the latest and greatest and they want to have the Apple Brand in their pockets but Apple is lacking innovation because of consumers. We’re the ones demanding new phones, iPads, MacBooks and they can’t deliver. Apple spent years developing features for these device but yet we demand new features every year. Spec bumps and incremental updates should be release if the are issues with the previous devices but introducing a new device each year. You over saturated all of the products. Apple was always the premium brand, I don’t need a cheap iPhone because it needs an update every year, I need a great iPhone that I can upgrade every 5 years and hoping the newest phone has the best that Apple can innovate.

The biggest issue with the iPad is the software its not addressing the needs of the pro community. The file manager, the connectivity to Mac OS and the issues around stage manager in particular. The addition of the calculator and Apple not addressing any of he other issues on the table was a real face palm moment for me. I bought the new iPad Air when I was intending to buy the iPad Pro. I couldn't justify spending twice the price to run the calculator app a bit faster. Since I am closing in on retirement I wanted the iPad Pro to be my single last big purchase to get off the treadmill of upgrades. It would have been my ultimate computing device for the rest of my life and instead I got a calculator app that no one was asking for. So I got the new iPad M2 Air to update my third gen iPad Air which I still have and which is running just fine for me.
