Hundreds audition, but only a select group will secure spots in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders training camp. DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell oversee the intense audition process and decide which hopefuls will make the team.

You aren't made point for your dance skills, you're made point for your leading skills. Technically Kashara was only given her second year as point because she earned it, first year was by default. Jenna was point and she, as her teams leader took one of the underage women (Holly) on her team to a nightclub, which is illegal so she was very lucky to just lose point and not her boots as well. That was a year they lost a lot of long time vets, and a lot of the women say Kashara held that team together. I do believe Lacey would have got it if it wasn't for that. While it's a little unfair someone didn't get it, it would have been ridiculously unfair for Kashara to have stepped up and never actually be given it outright. She wasn't the first to have a double year either, Jennifer and blonde Holly both got it as well in recent years. Double point got to how it is because they didn't have an obvious choice, they had Maddie who was loved by the team and Rachel because she was recognised before DCC. It is way better this way but they had clear choices before.
It’s interesting when the bottom performers become the top alums. You never know which future person you are cutting or promoting in this process!
I loooove Melissa! Especially since snotty kitty called her “too immature that she thinks it’s cute” when she first tried out. Yet NOW, Melissa’s a top dog, a mentor and she STILL has her funny bubbly personality… it’s what makes her, HER.
Anyway…. My favorites are those who didn’t do great their first time trying out and got cut but came back and rose to the top. They’re the ones who make you realize that anything in life is possible if you work hard enough for it. And failing once, even twice, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. It doesn’t mean you can’t/won’t rise to the top either.

She didn't rise to the top because she was a good DCC though, her immaturity was a problem when she was on the team which is why she got cut on her second try. She isn't immature anymore, she is just a bubbly person. It's always annoyed me that someone has been hired because of DWTS and not DCC, without the other they would never have respected her to come back because she didn't take it seriously the first time and other alums did. I'd put money on that she is there for the show, like the producers have hired her and not the actual team. I've never seen mid season interviews when they talk about support and things where they've actually brought her up. I get the impression she is there for "Dcc_making the team" and is actually no more important to the woman than the hair stylist at makeovers. I think it's funnier that she has nothing to do with their actual dancing, just their faces.

That's what they do. Maddie's been on the field a few times this past season filling in due to COVID protocol.

I love Maddie I watched her in season 10. And 15 in season 14 I will never forget Maddie solo and Maddie cooking I was rooting for Maddie cooking team the she make was good food
Its interesting to see the girls later in life. Natalie and Melissa are so much more beautiful in their 40's than they were in their 20's to me.

I still think that if I was in the position to pick a new DCC director when Kelli decides to walk away the first person I would call would be Melissa Rycroft. I know Melissa along with every one of the others has their haters but I don't share their opinion. If someone wants to disagree that's fine with me but I won't change my mind.

@@hannahmarie3223 The more popular or higher profile someone is the more hate they will get. Some of it I think is just old fashioned jealousy.
Why is Melissa the focus of this video? There have been other great alumni that have been guests on the show/in the studio.
It’s obvious CMT likes it when these girls mentors talk to them like crap. That’s unacceptable if you ask me.

She’s one of the best alums there is. She didn’t change at all from her “stardom” and is a great support system for all of the girls.

@Jessica I kinda agree! They like her for her outside resume which is why Kelli ALWAYS point out how she was on Dancing With the Stars. However, she is supportive, but as a DCC, she’s meh.
@@16MedicRN I think so! Melissa is good for advice outside of DCC like getting noticed on reality TV. That’s why she’s a showmanship coach. I will say she is good in helping girls make the team b/c she has personal experience being a rookie who made it. However, if I’m looking to grow as a DCC into a “higher” position like point, show group or grow lead, Melissa is not the best to go to. It’s better to be a well rounded mentor, than a one trick pony. Notice, Kelli never boasts about Melissa as a cheerleader or her skills during that time. They weren’t impressive. She’s there cuz of her outside “fame”. Not saying she dosen’t deserve it, but there are more qualified DCCs who dedicate years & moved up during their time that can help the girls like Maddie for instance.

I never liked, Melissa. She always tried to be cute but instead she made everything uncomfortable
