It's infuriating how Grubhub and DoorDash underpay their drivers, forcing them to rely on tips for survival. These companies create a toxic work environment while reaping the profits. It's high time they pay a fair wage, provide cars or mileage, and treat their drivers with the respect they deserve.

Every time I’ve tried pushing for a $ minimum I’ve made less. Although aiming for a mile per dollar has worked well in my area to still make good money. I try for at least a 1:1 ratio so long as it isn’t super far away from most food unless it pays for itself to do so

Without going into my situation I dash six nights a week for three hours. I make as much as possible, but sometimes I come up with less than I would like. I will take an order that is more miles than pay as long as it's not too many miles. From my own experience it balances out and I make more money than miles driven. If it's $10 for 15 miles then I'm not gonna take that, but if it's $11 for 9 miles even if it's out of the zone a little, then I'll be ok with it. My goal is to make a certain amount in my three hours, but like I said sometimes I have to be ok with coming up short, cause another day can have me coming out way above what I normally would. Things are not the same in every zone though. Sometimes I can drop off an order and get more orders than I know what to do with, but other times even when it's supposedly busy I can drop off an order and get squat. it's just about being patient and being ok with making a certain amount in a certain amount of hours. I don't always get three orders per hour. It does get frustrating though sitting and waiting and nothings coming through even though it's supposed to be busy.

I got 2 orders earlier tonight in Big Bear, CA! I was so thankful for finally receiving orders during a $3 peak pay timeframe! I made $40.64 which I think is amazing! I had to end the dash driving on the main boulevard where everything is since I wasn’t receiving any orders for 15 minutes or so. I check again earlier where everything closes at 11:00 pm PST which was 10 minutes before closing as I’m home and it said very busy which doesn’t make any sense considering closing times were in 10 minutes. By the time I get there it’s already closed but I thanked the heavenly father above for providing me what I needed today.

I live in an area where we have a couple small cities/towns right next to each other and some of my orders will take me into neighboring towns so when I drop off my order i'll go to the nearest hotspot instead of back to my home town. you basically just do what the app suggests.

    • @notyouraveragejohn69
      @notyouraveragejohn69 Год назад

But you're in another city now. You may not know your way around. You might have to drive 20 minutes just to get back home.
This happens to me and its ridiculous. Orders that take 20 minutes each way (40 min total) plus traffic and getting to restaurant. And the order will only be $10. So basically its $10/hr.
Doordash shouldn't offer customers food from another city over. Last time I did take one like that it was literally $11 for a McDonald's order from Austin tx to Buda Texas. I passed 2 McDonald's on the way.....

I try my damndest to stay away from all chain fast food and drive through. Oddly, after 10 p.m. I’ve come to love Taco Bell, though. The one by my house keeps their lobby open late, so I don’t have to hit drive through. And, for whatever reason, all the orders are $7 + and all of them are like .5 mile to 1.5 miles. Crazy. I can knock out each one in about 10 minutes because there’s no traffic. I’ll literally pause my orders after delivery until I get into Taco Bell parking lot. I’ll make 50-60 between 10 and midnight with little gas. What’s crazy is that every other order I get in that area at that time (Wawa, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, a different Taco Bell a few miles away, and a few bars) are ALWAYS for, like, 15+ miles, out of zone, for $5 or less.

There is one taco bell I have that luck with. It is fast but is drive thru only, after 10pm, but basically surrounded by nearby apartment complexes. So just like you said $7 + and within 2 miles. Liking that especially when they add on another while I'm on the way... and as luck has it, it sits next to Denny's open 247... that's my spot. I go right back too...

Do not listen to this guy people. The video is like 90% propaganda.
    (1) Trying to get people to focus on the amount of money they make per day instead of per hour. Really!
    (2) Peak pay does not mean more money per hour, you may not get enough orders because too many drivers out. Ignore it and focus on time and location because tips is where the money is! Consider it a nice bonus when you're already out.
    (3) Stacked orders are sneaky! If it's 2 stores and 2 customers it's the same as 2 regular orders, just you can't cancel one that turned out to be morale-crushing junk because you've already picked up the food!
    (4) DD does NOT factor in wait time. That is a lie. Most of the pay for a decent order is TIP. If wait time was a factor all McDonalds and Popeyes orders would be at least $5 but anyone doing this for more than 2 months knows that isn't the case.
    (5) Do NOT focus on volume. More orders = more stress. Only do volume if your plan is only to take orders that go within a 1-2 mile radius of a hotspot. Propaganda to get more deliveries fulfilled.
    (6) OK, positioning. One good tip that happens to be good for both DD and drivers.
    (7) DD never takes me home, or anywhere I wanna be for that matter, unless I'm cherrypicking.
    (8) Avoid drive through yes but DD doesn't want late orders so another tip that happens to be good for drivers too
The last bit about maximizing your time is a bit of fluff to cover up the subtle brainwashing sprinkled throughout the rest of the video. DD doesn't care about maximizing your time at all. Ignore AR, ignore Peak Pay, ignore TD, and make judicious use of the almighty Decline! DD is your CUSTOMER, *not* your boss!

Yup, after I got an email FROM doordash titled something like "learn tips and tricks to make more money....... Blah blah blah" and proceeded to promote and recommend that I watch some videos on his RUclips channel, i can't see him as neutral or having the dashers best interests at heart. Doordashs email promoting his videos totally changed the way I listen to his suggestions.

Why would they recommend somebody with tips that don’t work? At this point it’s not my loss. This information is free. Do with it what you want.

      1. I said do you want to make $8 per order, $21 per hour and yea at the end of the day it’s what you take home. You don’t just do one order.
      2. Peak is a direct increase in your base pay which means more per hour.
      3. That’s your opinion not a fact.
      4. Again your opinion and slight propaganda
      5. Again your opinion and kinda silly because without volume we have no orders.
      6. Thank You
      7. That’s Not my fault, and I didn’t say every time.
      8. At least I got one point.
      9. It’s called a summary. If DD doesn’t care about your time at least you should. And the tips in this video will help you cut time and make money.

The real propaganda comes from how people like you skew the truth to block people like this young lady from actually making any money because they are to fearful to do their own research.

@@DoordashDiaries Bro don't be disingenuous how is it propaganda if the advice didn't originate from anywhere but personal experience? In whose interest would the propaganda be? If talking in the interests of drivers over a greedy corporation is propaganda, I guess I'm guilty?
