Most urea in the cosmetics are synthetic. In France we have a famous organic (mostly) shop named Aroma zone and they sell urea extract. It is a humectant, a moisturizer, like glycerin, often used to fight keratosis pilaris skin condition, psoriasis... in all the descriptions i saw of this ingredient, they stress the fact that urea used in cosmetics can only be created synthetically ( and we know why: it is the major component of urine) . So when i heard curly proverbs named it in her video denouncing Maui i was like this one i know, i have some at home. Maybe it is this particular type of urea that that is used pure! And that's just disgusting! I think i need to check further for D.Urea. In any case don't buy Maui products! L. From France

Another thing is that formaldehyde also has a tendency to build up in the body very quickly. So over time it can actually cause certain types of cancer. To research the things in a product is one thing but also remember to research what effects these things have on the body over an extended period of time. Also understand, if you will, that when there are people who have lived a perfectly healthy life or most of their life and still end up with cancer, there is a problem. always make sure to look up the effects of these things on the body over time. Because when you don't, you're only getting half of the narrative. I might also suggest that you find a reputable third-party that is not willing to be paid off by meta corporate companies so that way the companies can make money and say that it's fine. The rich stick together. It's a very common Trend unfortunately. I agree that we all should be looking into things but I also believe that we also should look at the effects. And look at the long-term of all these things because we only have one life. And we only get one chance.
I read research on prolonged exposure as well, which I think I linked in the description. But, only cohorts exposed to unusually high amounts of formaldehyde overtime had cancer health outcomes. Also, formaldehyde is produced naturally in your cells and actually doesn't build up overtime. It is converted to formic acid by your body's metabolic processes and excreted. (www.andeal.org/topic.cfm?cat=4089) High exposure to formaldehyde is where you see the mutagenicity that leads to cancers because your body can't convert it quickly enough. Again, formaldehyde occurs naturally in your body and in some vegetables and fruit that you end up metabolizing safely only because it comes in tiny amounts. And yesss, the tea is that corporations and the government do work closely and shadily sometimes so it's important always to question. Money talks in this country. Research done in the EU, however, seems to corroborate a lot of what I found.
Aryana Sosa is that in ALL their shampoos or particular ones? Was curious as I just picked up trial sizes of the moisture retention one with shea butter for dry hair. I would hate for it to make my hair even dryer than it already does.
Cherale White I am almost certain that all of them contain the ingredient, you could always check on their website and look at the ingredients. The ingredient is drying after a long time of using it, but if you deep condition or use anything other than just conditioner to moisturize your hair, you should be good.
Aryana Sosa Thank you for the info. I will check out their site like you suggested. As I mentioned in another post, I actually learned about these products via YT initially and with having a crazy work schedule. I haven't had a chance to do a proper research check. As to deep conditioning and all that. I for sure keep up on that. Since going natural this year, it's kind of like a Godsend to my hair. I love how you've made a video about being informed and doing your own research and generally being aware that 1 standalone ingredient doesn't automatically make a product bad or toxic or "cancelled". And then we've still got comments going "YEAH BUT WILL IT HAS THIS THING I HEARD SOME OTHER UNINFORMED BEAUTUBER SAY WHAT ABOUT IT CANCEL EVERYTHING!!!". Like sis get outta here.
I always say this when it comes to the FDA and the different things that they say are prove. Always look to see who paid for the testing. It has been shown that a lot of the tests that come up for different products are approved because they are paid off even though there are other negative things. The FDA is well known for this as well. I'm not saying that it's wrong but many other countries do not allow most of the chemical factors in their products as is for us. I wonder why? Also note that the product that we send overseas that are cosmetic have to align with the standard of the countries that we send it to. So why is it the FDA approves it for Americans to have it in their system but they changed the recipe and take out those poisonous factors to sell to other countries in order to align with their cosmetic restrictions? This also includes formaldehyde. Just saying.
In formaldehyde's case, American products don't necessarily change formula when shipped internationally to remove toxins. Not sure about every country out there, but In the EU, for example, if the concentration of formaldehyde releaser is above safety standard, the product has to clearly label that that's the case, but both diazolidinyl urea and DMDM Hydanatoin are approved for use in the EU in tiny safe amounts. ( www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5152996/ ) It's all just about being an informed consumer on what the regulations are/aren't and how to best move forward in your own personal care regimen. Deleting any extraneous formaldehyde or other toxins from your personal life is always a good move.
Because you have to pay for your own healthcare...they’re not going to let harmful products slip into all our products (I’m from the U.K.) for the government to have to pay for us when we’re ill, if free healthcare is revoked (which is highly likely for the NHS in the future) it is no longer in the governments interest to regulate ingredients as heavily...
Thank you so much for encouraging and showcasing 'doing your own research with valid sources'. We need more of this in the modern-internet world. You are such a boss for doing this. Thank you.
Premarin (PREgnant MAre uRINe) also has synthetic urine to reduce menstrual cramps and other symptoms related a woman's menstrual cycle. All chemicals ain't bad or bad for you 🤷🏾♀️ Good job using your Googles, Will!

I use the Maui moisture thick curly hair line and I love it it leaves my hair so moisturize but the shampoo leaves my hair kind of dry for being a sulfate free shampoo but the conditioner fixes that and has good slip for my hair type and leaves it feeling super soft
Urea is in many good quality skin care products including those used in hospitals, it's beneficial for certain skin conditions including scalp care. There is no need to be alarmed about chemistry that sounds scary.

Hey Will and anyone who is interested! Just wanted to let you know to make searching chemicals easier whether organic or not, look up their MSDS! It's a chemical safety sheet for whatever chemical you are looking up! I always look the MSDS for chemicals due to working in a chem lab.
Omg wow thank you so much recently been trying to figure out which products are good and I heard of this product. However I heard about that whole pee situation and I was not trying to have that in my hair or mom hair or whoever in my family decides to use it.
Great Video. People trying to guess what a chemical compound does based on the name alone get on my nerves. If something is derived from another compound, it usually has its name on it, but that doesn't mean it does the same thing or is even remotely close in properties to the original compound. Almost all of benzene derivatives have the name benzene on them, but benzene is extremely toxic and carcinogenic and its derivatives, most of the time, aren't. I know I can't exactly expect chemistry knowledge from the average consumer, but this should be basic knowledge smh

Loved this format of video from you Will. Thank you for sharing your resources and knowledge ⭐️
( www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5152996/ )
It's all just about being an informed consumer on what the regulations are/aren't and how to best move forward in your own personal care regimen.
Anotha banger once again 😫😫💛
Thank you so much for encouraging and showcasing 'doing your own research with valid sources'. We need more of this in the modern-internet world. You are such a boss for doing this. Thank you.
I'm 8 months into transitioning and this video has helped me so much. NEW SUBSCRIBER!
Premarin (PREgnant MAre uRINe) also has synthetic urine to reduce menstrual cramps and other symptoms related a woman's menstrual cycle. All chemicals ain't bad or bad for you 🤷🏾♀️ Good job using your Googles, Will!
Wow amazing video. Never knew of these websites so happy you shared them with us!!! Also after watching the whole thing i realized the chemists who developed the line were genius!! I love my products from them
"OMG RUclips is changing" I almost choked on my food😂
I saw the title and got so scared Bc Maui moisture products are bomb.
Thanks for the information. The reputable sources and websites.
I use the Maui moisture thick curly hair line and I love it it leaves my hair so moisturize but the shampoo leaves my hair kind of dry for being a sulfate free shampoo but the conditioner fixes that and has good slip for my hair type and leaves it feeling super soft
My local CVS has Maui on sale for 75% off. I purchased the Vanilla Bean line. Thanks!
Urea is in many good quality skin care products including those used in hospitals, it's beneficial for certain skin conditions including scalp care. There is no need to be alarmed about chemistry that sounds scary.
Thanks for clearing that up bro 😊, I also use the Think Dirty app to double check my ingredients.
Blueberries contain tons of parabens by the way. Stay away from blueberries! (Irony warning!)
Yo...everything about this video was just too lit! Thank you so much for all the work you put into this.
Bravo! Well done! You also provided a ton of useful information in the description box. Thank you!
When you said get your cups out I had to side eye you like “after you talking about animal pee in it, what you bout to put in my cup tho”
I used the bamboo maui moisture and i. Had an allergic reaction and alot of hair loss. It took months for my scalp to feel normal again
Awesome video. I feel a lot better about using the product because it's the first one that hydrated my hair and made it soft.
Great Video, thank you so much for doing the research and giving reliable information to your viewers. Also that 20min video went by faster than some peoples 5 min videos! :D
Subscribed!
Ewg and Think Dirty both have “verified” products that have just paid them to get verified. It doesn’t mean they’re actually safe (or not safe if they aren’t verified)
I am allergic to formaldehyde so I do not use anything that has formaldehyde releasing products in it. You have to just use what is best for you. Formaldehyde is in a lot of things around us as well. I even break out from some bandaids (formaldehyde is in adhesive).
What a great personality!!! Loved the video, super clear information.
Hi Will. Great video, informative. You took a potentially boring subject and made it interesting. Kudos to you. BUT, I have one criticism. When you hold up the bottle to show us, please hold it still instead of waving it around, so that we can READ THE LABEL for ourselves. Thank you. I'm a regular subscriber to your channel.
Cute, funny, intelligent, and talented!!
Thanks for always sharing with us!
Can you do more of these???
Top notch editing! I love these videos.
So are these ingredients in all the Maui moisture products? It's weird cuz my hair dont like the shampoo and conditioner but it do like the hair mask and the curling smoothie.
Is Shea moisture an ok/safe product to use? 😱
Does any one know the name of the app that tells you If the product you're using is safe or harmful
Amy Obote Think Dirty.
Katherine Miller thankyou

I just bought some more of there hair butter and curl smoothie I love your editing skills I'm still new to this blogging stuff lol I think your my curl twin☺☺ do you collab with other RUclipsrs?
Yasss Willy!!! Thanks for doing the dirty work for us! More vids like this please!!!
Yooo I’ve been waiting 5ever for someone to talk about the Urea in their products and explain. We stan
Excellent job @WillOnAWhim your production is amazing I’m glad I’ve been able to see such growth through the years. Thank you for your time and effort put into the video AND the fact checking, I’m in college and know its a headache to info search and check the sources.
I love you Will. Your videos are so funny and I enjoy watching them all. Appreciate all the edits you do too.
Love this. Quite informative. Everyone should do this level of research prior to raising an alarm.
Would you still use a certain product if all ingredients were proven safe except one ?
Very informative, funny, and truly EXTRA. Love your channel
There’s isopropyl alcohol in it as well 🐸 ☕️
Isn't that rubbing alcohol
Queen Lele Yeap, sure is !!
I mean im gonna try it... as long as its not like cantu....*sideeye*
You can't really judge ingredients in products by itself and not how it acts with others at differing concentrations.
outherewildin' b Plenty of people do just like how they cut off Cantu, Eco, etc because of certain ingredients in them.....sooo 🤷🏽♀️
This is the funniest tutorial I ever seen! 🤣🤣 your're awesome!!! And your hair is beautiful! Thank you so much for researching and breaking down all the ingredients for us! This the 1st time I've ever seen this in a tutorial. It sure did get Maui Moisture a new customer.. 😘
However I heard about that whole pee situation and I was not trying to have that in my hair or mom hair or whoever in my family decides to use it.
please do more videos like this with other brands!!!
This is my favorite video of yours
I actually thought I was subbed since I watch so much and you pop up a lot
I’m subbed now
Love, love the effort you put into this video & love the antics lol thanks!!!!!!!!
I fw these videos cuh you seem really intelligent ✊🏽
We stan an intelligent, research-doing quing~
Thanks for explaining all of the ingredients! This was an eye opener.
It's in the As I Am products as well.
I just need to know what that "That is not correct" sound clip is from! I am STILL dying!
Sooooooo much respect for him for this video.
Will's smile is so contagious like damn ❤️
Just start following and love this type of video, please please please do more. Very informative.
This had me laughing out loud for real, not the "fake, lol" but literally. Love you! Haha!
"OMG RUclips is Changing...lol" Hilarious
Great Video. People trying to guess what a chemical compound does based on the name alone get on my nerves. If something is derived from another compound, it usually has its name on it, but that doesn't mean it does the same thing or is even remotely close in properties to the original compound. Almost all of benzene derivatives have the name benzene on them, but benzene is extremely toxic and carcinogenic and its derivatives, most of the time, aren't. I know I can't exactly expect chemistry knowledge from the average consumer, but this should be basic knowledge smh
I love a good informative video. Keep doing your thing Will; you're great!
