    Hideki is the best!!!! So well deserved, he played amazing this year and how he came back after losing some shots on the back nine on sunday shows what kind of a player he is! Really happy for him to win this event!

    Some people criticize my inability to speak English at press conferences, but don't worry about it, Hideki!
    The era of communication without time lag, where information is instantly translated and displayed on the screen, is just around the corner.

    Hideki's English hearing is almost perfect. However, I am not confident in speaking. This is a feeling unique to Japanese people who are worried about not being able to convey their message accurately. Same as Shohei Otani.

    English is not a qualification or regulation required in PGA tour
    He let his irons and putter did the all the talking and they were loud and clear that no need translation for everyone to understand his final score either
    Congrats

    Congratulations! Unfortunately, English translation of the interview was not so accurate and did not fully convey what Hideki had said. I wish he hires a translator who can capture Japanese nuances better.

      No translation ever fully conveys a language.

      It is extremely difficult to translate live. Also, what is spoken and the intended inferences across cultures makes things even more difficult besides just the words.

    I’m another big Hideki fan. For some reason the Japanese Pros are not comfortable learning and trying to speak English being they play mostly in the US. Same with the LPGA Japanese pros. The Chinese, Korean, and Thai LPGA pros speak English (and very well) in their interviews but for some reason the Japanese players do not. I wish they would. At the Olympics, there were no interpreters for Hideki at the post press conference so we didn’t get to understand his questions and comments.

      @triplea_1947 2 месяца назад +1

      I think he is very proud to be Japanese and wants to speak Japanese. You can tell he picks up a little English here and there. But would much prefer to speak his native language.

    • @Noeau
      @Noeau 2 месяца назад +1

      @@triplea_1947 yes I’m sure he understands English and can speak some but is not comfort enough to speak it in press conferences. He is doing well as is but it would be nice to see his responses directly in English and not through an interpreter which feels like just words and no feeling.

      ‘you’re not that special’ what a weird comment. So a special person doesn’t have to speak his second language? Some people are not good at speaking in public, much less with his second language.

      @@timmyanne4931 The commenter isn’t playing on a Japanese tour, and therefore has no need to speak Japanese. Your reasoning is specious.
