I just sold my '18 GT350 yesterday, looking at these and C6 ZR1. I'm turn, not sure which direction to go in. The newer tech and interior is hard to overlook though.
I own a 2017 Z06 7-speed. One of the most visceral and raw experiences you can have. Sounds incredible and gets thumbs up everywhere. Can actually feel the liquid in your skull move from all that torque! Love this car, live in New England and bought in January as a second car. Already put 4K miles on it. 👍
Corvettes are always the best cars to buy and there’s variations for every budget, C5 C6 C7 and eventually C8. No other performance model car can do this.
Anthony your 100% right I race the C5 Z06 and it’s hands down the most affordable super car out there for the money. Mine is built 600 HP, cage, harnesses, etc and I’ve had it up too 180 mph on a open road race. No doubt it could do over 200Mph.

I’m probably biased since I own one, but I’ve always felt the exterior of the Z06 (and Grand Sport) were underrated in terms of the aero and styling. Every vent is functional and essentially every body line serves a purpose but yet it looks good at the same time. To me it’s a real engineering marvel and those “little things” are often overlooked due to the crazy power numbers. Also it’s probably sticky in Florida but get one on a cold day or on wet roads and you better be careful! Great review as always though.
I personally couldn’t tell you because it’s a second vehicle/toy for me but from what I’ve read from people that do they are pretty reliable engine wise. The automatics have some issues with shuddering though.
Awesome review Joe! THis will be out of my price range in 4-5 years when I’m ready to buy a C7... Unfortunately. Might have to “settle” for a Stingray but thats ok, 650 hp is out of control , but Would love to drive one! Definitely need the 7 speed manual for sure !
The C7 Z06 is a great car but extremely dangerous if you don’t now what you’re doing. That car is powerful but it has no rear axle grip whatsoever. You have to feather the pedal for every stop. This problem is solved with the mid-engine C8 with more weight on the rear side.
That is...until you experience a properly done LS7. Not to mention the multiple hundreds of pounds of weight benefit the C6 has on the C7 platform. Nothing responds on the track like a well sorted out NA.

Two concerns with the Z06. Apparently the early ones (so basically the first two years at least) had REALLY bad heat soak issues and I think some owners even filed suits against GM over it due to overheating issues. The second issue is apparently the Cylinder Deactivation which was coupled with the 8 speed auto was a real sore spot on all Stingrays regardless of trim so I would have to go manual if I ever managed to be able to afford one. Can you find a way to review the C6 Z06? Now THAT is my dream Corvette!
So say you wanted to buy a z06 similar to the mustang gt350 its better to look at the newer/last years made where alot of issues where tweaked out or atleast better. Like the gt350 2019-2020 is the one alot of people recommend over the older years due to oil consumption issues, would u say its similar with the z06 to look at like 2018-2019?

I've got a 17Z 886rwhp, I've owned 5 Mustangs and I still love Mustangs ( if I could have more than 1 toy I would) but a Corvette is just a completely different animal, and if left with the choice of owning one or the other I'll take A Vette any day..GT350 would be we're I'd go if it was a Mustang...can't go wrong with any American toys these days! Buy what you like they're all good!

Corvette's look pretty good from the outside but the inside has always had a very outdated look which is a huge turn off for buying if the c7 were to have the c8 interior it would be a home run!! 😁
I've owned a Vette when I was like early 20's. Then went to airplanes. It's time to go back to a Vette. I'm at a crossroad for a C6 or C7 ZO6 or go Ferrari. I was on a Ferrari forum and one guy posted... "If I want to enjoy driving, take the Ferrari". "If I want to get there take the Vette". So true America's Vette can drive short or long trips without worries, with a detector of course. Back to Vette's, I know two different Vette's c6/c7 but I like both. I like the round lights in the rear but...... The C7 looks hot too and different power plants. I'm a manual trans. guy but the auto's these days are much improved. Time to test drive... That thing is totally sick. I grew up bouncing around the streets of Boston, the beaches all over Mass Bay and Cape Cod, up to Vermont to ski in my buddy's Vettes;19 77,1981, and 1984. I love them and will eventually have one. $60K for that Z06 with only 10,000 miles...hard to pass up man.

I just traded a 2015 Velocity Yellow Stingray automatic with 32k miles for a 2015 Velocity Yellow Z06 7-Speed with 10k miles. 2 totally different cars. Rev-matching is amazing. If you get a chance to buy one, don’t blink.
Loved your video! I have the triple black 18 Z06. Yes, it is a last to drive! BUT NOT IN THE RAIN! Getting caught in the rain is SCARY….as in slip& slide. Great video!
I traded my BRZ in this weekend for a 2016 admiral blue with black wheels C7 Z51 and if we’re talking C7 Z06 I would damn well say it’s worth it… my Z51 package is a 7 speed manual and I have a blast with that 460hp so I could only imagine 650!!
I love my C7 ZO6. Got 30k miles on it. Best Vette I’ve had. My 5th one👍. I’m keeping this one when I get my C8 ZO6. Sending the C7 ZO6 to LMR in Houston. Gonna get same package SS717 has on his ZR1.
I doubt that! The generation that mostly insist on Manuals is dying out and you always have the paddle shifters on the Automatic. Also the Auto is faster by a couple tenths of a second on the 0-60 time.

The C6 ZR1 to this day is still the king. Quicker than this, the ZR1 ZTK, and C8 Z06 in a straight line, and on Cup 2R wouldn’t be massively slower on track. And better looking.

For the most part, most Corvettes are the best used performance car to buy. My '99 C5 hard top will still surprise many newer "hot" cars, while being reliable and affordable to fix. Makes me smile every time I drive it. More power and handling is just a bit of money and effort away.
What car can you get used for 60k.......HELLCAT which are usually a tad bit less. I love GM products but a used hellcat is less money and can have a sedan to lug the family around....it’s the ultimate dad car lol

It's the only 2 seater over 650 hp that manual transmission is an option. High end exotics don't even have a manual transmission.
Talk about appreciation...a used one will cost you at least $75,000 right now!

Top speed of 186mph? The ZL1 Camaro does 198mph with the same LT4 engine. Pretty sure the Z06 can go faster.

I've owned a Vette when I was like early 20's. Then went to airplanes. It's time to go back to a Vette. I'm at a crossroad for a C6 or C7 ZO6 or go Ferrari. I was on a Ferrari forum and one guy posted... "If I want to enjoy driving, take the Ferrari". "If I want to get there take the Vette". So true America's Vette can drive short or long trips without worries, with a detector of course. Back to Vette's, I know two different Vette's c6/c7 but I like both. I like the round lights in the rear but...... The C7 looks hot too and different power plants. I'm a manual trans. guy but the auto's these days are much improved. Time to test drive... Old timers will remember the commercial about V8 vegetable juice....Ya coulda had a V8. Well after paying $61K for a 4 year old Vette that is no quicker than a new one....Man, ya coulda had a C8.

That thing is totally sick. I grew up bouncing around the streets of Boston, the beaches all over Mass Bay and Cape Cod, up to Vermont to ski in my buddy's Vettes;19 77,1981, and 1984. I love them and will eventually have one. $60K for that Z06 with only 10,000 miles...hard to pass up man.

I’ve been hearing the used prices on C7 Z06 are increasing.
I just traded a 2015 Velocity Yellow Stingray automatic with 32k miles for a 2015 Velocity Yellow Z06 7-Speed with 10k miles. 2 totally different cars. Rev-matching is amazing. If you get a chance to buy one, don’t blink.

Loved your video! I have the triple black 18 Z06. Yes, it is a last to drive! BUT NOT IN THE RAIN! Getting caught in the rain is SCARY….as in slip& slide. Great video!
I traded my BRZ in this weekend for a 2016 admiral blue with black wheels C7 Z51 and if we’re talking C7 Z06 I would damn well say it’s worth it… my Z51 package is a 7 speed manual and I have a blast with that 460hp so I could only imagine 650!!
I love my C7 ZO6. Got 30k miles on it. Best Vette I’ve had. My 5th one👍. I’m keeping this one when I get my C8 ZO6. Sending the C7 ZO6 to LMR in Houston. Gonna get same package SS717 has on his ZR1.

I doubt that! The generation that mostly insist on Manuals is dying out and you always have the paddle shifters on the Automatic. Also the Auto is faster by a couple tenths of a second on the 0-60 time.
I can neither confirm nor deny it’s status as “the best performance bargain” but c’mon if the price is right one can NEVER go wrong w/a Z06!! MERICA’ 🤣🤣

Great review Joe, I've been away from my computer for a while. I just wanted to ask you for an update on that GT350R, Are you still waiting on it? Would a C-7 or C-8 corvette change your mind about it? I guess with all the reviews out there on the new C-8, the newness has worn off and to be honest with you, I like the C-7 models more, especially the Z06 and ZR1 models. The C6 ZR1 to this day is still the king. Quicker than this, the ZR1 ZTK, and C8 Z06 in a straight line, and on Cup 2R wouldn’t be massively slower on track. And better looking.

I think a used zl1 1le is my best pick for the best performance in the used market.

For the most part, most Corvettes are the best used performance car to buy. My '99 C5 hard top will still surprise many newer "hot" cars, while being reliable and affordable to fix. Makes me smile every time I drive it. More power and handling is just a bit of money and effort away.

What car can you get used for 60k.......HELLCAT which are usually a tad bit less. I love GM products but a used hellcat is less money and can have a sedan to lug the family around....it’s the ultimate dad car lol
You have had the chance to drive c7 z06 as well as the 2020 and up gt500 which one impressed you the most and which one would you feel is dollar for dollar the better car?
