RIVER WALKING IN ACHERON RIVER - SECRET EPIRUS Day Trip From Parga

🇬🇷WE STAYED FOR ONE WEEK AT THE BEGINNING OF OCTOBER 2022 AND STAYED AT THE REZI HOTEL - HERE'S WHAT WE GOT UP TO IN OUR TRAVEL DIARIES....🇬🇷
Day 5 - We booked with a local travel agent for the 4 of us to do the Secret Epirus day trip from Parga. It cost us around 220 euros and we were picked up at around 10am and dropped back at our hotel around 5pm. This included a 40 minute river cruise in Ammoudia, lunch at Acheron springs and the option for a Acheron river walking tour in the water. The river cruise was nice but nothing amazing unfortunitey, we got to see a few animals but i could quite happily skip this part. Next we went into a museum which had lots of information about Acheron River however, the guide on the river cruise told us everything so we felt this part of the trip was a time filler. We drove to Acheron river to a gorgeous taverna situated at the waters edge and had lunch which comprised of chicken, rice, salad, chips and water - there were vegetarian options available also. This area was beautiful! After lunch we drove further inland to walk the Acheron river gorge . We met with a guide and spent around an hour and a half doing the walk - this was the highlight of the trip! It took around 15 mins of walking to reach the point of entry so after getting used to the cold water and making our way up stream, it wasn't long until we had to return. We changed our clothes then drove back to Parga. Next time, we will either take a local bus to this river spot or hire a car and drive so we can spend the whole day here, it was so beautiful and we wanted to walk further up the river. We later walking to the harbour for our evening meal - the sunset was so pretty!
We flew from Gatwick to Preveza with TUI for 1 week starting from the 2nd of October 2022. We stayed at the Rezi Hotel which is situated in Parga town - we booked two rooms. We absolutely loved this hotel, very simple but clean, great breakfast, great bar and pool PLUS...only a few minutes walk to the nearest beach Piso Krioneri Beach and just a few more minutes walk to the main town beach and harbour.
Our first day here blew us away with it's beauty, the town has a gorgeous mix of old style geek and Venetian styling and even reminded me of Positano in Italy! The local people were super friendly and the weather was amazing all week we were there (we were lucky as October can be hit or miss).
Throughout the week, we went on two land train trips, a day trip to Meteora, a day trip to Acheron River, we walked to the castle a few times and over to Valtos beach so we found plenty to do. Ohh and we went swimming in the sea many times and even spotted an octopus on our last night beneath us!!
