What a great interview. Many years ago I was working on the Isle of Wight as an Engineer on coastal defence. During my time there I became involved with the United Reform Church in Shanklin. My next door neighbour Freddy gave me a tape recorded by Jimmy Tibbs and Benny Stafford some time before. A friend Tony on the island used to go to school with Jimmy, so I gave him the tape. Tony was a Christian and a commercial artist writing children's comic strips, but had been made redundant. Subsequently he was involved involved with the kids on the island and played that tape all over the Isle of Wight. which brought many of these kids to the Lord. That is how the Lord has used Jimmy, spreading His word. Praise the Lord
Listening to jimmy who ive known of through my families links to boxing for a lifetime it seems . WOW that 55 minutes have triggered something inside my head .cheers jimmy
I remember him as a youngster - I was in a school with him in Forest Gate, London in the 60's. He was not to be messed with there, and had quite a tough reputation.
Hey antoine we must have been at forest gate at the same time. He was indeed a tough cookie but always a gentlemen and polite, but yes very intimidating.
It's astonishing how fast "the peace of Jesus" left Jimmy when he thought he was going to die and it's also astonishing how reluctant fervent christians are to meet Jesus. Aside from that Jimmy sounds like a really nice guy and a great family man.
