Change side of the control stick on the IKEA Fridans roller blinds

Could I use the same instructions to maintain the same side for the handle but unroll it by the front side of the roll instead of near the wall?

Yes. That's exactly the "problem" you have when you just switch it to the left side. When you turn the handle like it's done in the video you will have that "problem" (what you want) on the right side.
