    So glad you mentioned Ruphus.
There was some real good Norwegian prog bands in the 70s Popol vuh/Popol ace is another one.
Frank Zappa wanted them on his label and the singer Jan Teigen was a hot candidate to join Genesis aften Gabriel left.
There is some new Bands as well.
Leprous is a fantastic metal prog Band.

Thanks Pete for covering a San Francisco Bay Area band, Y & T. A terrific rock band, like UFO, a very underrated band that should have been huge.
Also, after your Foghat vs Nazerath show a couple of days back, I once again listened to Foghat’s Night Shift album. I forgot how great this album was. Almost as good as Fool For tithe City, but still a great album. Thanks.

Really interesting show, and highly informative. Thanks. On the Elephants Memory Band, they were the backing band for John and Yoko for the Sometime in New York City album, which was released in 1972. I see, now after I've scrolled a bit, this info has been mentioned, however the LP was initially a two disc offering dealing with topical social issues at the time with "Woman Is The Nigger Of The World" as the most controversial. The album was a 180 degree departure from the first two highly acclaimed solo releases and further stoked the anti-Yoko sentiment the world held at the time. The second record had one side with Frank Zappa and his Mothers of Invention band when Flo & Eddie (formerly of The Turtles) were in tow. Really interesting extended stuff that echoed George Harrison's jams on his "All Things Must Pass" album with the Mothers breaking into "Happy Together" at the end. Maybe a topic for another day- Great songs of social protest vs. lousy songs of social protest. "For What It's Worth"/"Murder In My Heart For The Judge." Thanks again for the cool show and takes. :D

Hey Pete, i would like to recommend an incredible prog/jazz fusion/space band from the '70's if you haven't heard them already. I believe that you are gonna be suprised very pleasantly with their music and feel shock and awe. Propably you have never heard them before and they are from Poland. Their name is SBB. A fantastic mix of Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Eloy, Hawkwind, Yes and Pink Floyd. Propably some ELP in some places...They are true legends in their country considered as a supergroup, but because of the Iron Curtain back in the days, they weren't recognised as they should be for their value and their music in the rest of Europe much, even though they were famous. The best incredible guitarist that you propably never heard of before named Apostolis Anthimos, in the same level (not joking) of Meola and McLaughlin of Greek origin, an immigrant from Greece that plays double neck Gibson guitars and other instruments and three other multi-instrumentalists as well amazing members that play drums, bass and moog etc.. Check them out...hope you'll find very interesting..this album is among their best and they have lots of albums and they still play today..amazing musicianship and compositions. I think you are going to lose your mind with this: m.ruclips.net/video/BRpT1GWTXX4/видео.html

In the UK the only live Max Webster was on one side of the album 'Magnetic Air', 5 tracks on the other side are studio tracks from the previous/first two albums, this was released as an introduction of MW to the UK after touring with Rush (where I saw them). I bought it (on release) & then discovered & bought an import vinyl 'Live Magnetic Air'. I have just managed to get it on CD. Rare (here) & not cheap. As are many of MW & Kim Mitchell albums.

Hi Pete, have you ever heard Rare Earth? They were a great rock band from late 60s early 70s signed to Motown. Music is like a mixture of rock and soul with great vocals and great riffs and other instrumentation including brass on some tracks. Reminds me of a mixture of Deep Purple, Early Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Ides Of March and Grand Funk Railroad. Check out their cover of Smokey Robinsons Get Ready. They're like precursors to Living Colour and Mothers Finest, like a heavier Parliament/Funkadelic. By the way I love these shows you do on obscurities and have picked up a few of the albums you've featured due to your recommendation and all have been really good, thank you.

Maybe I'm a bit surprised that Elephant's Memory is mostly forgotten now, but it probably takes a dedicated Lennon fan to be aware of them. They were even mentioned by name on the front cover of 'Some Time in NYC'. I had a copy of the '72 EM album produced by Lennon that I found in a comic book store for 99 cents. Although Lennon also played on the album, it certainly wasn't great music...I considered it more of a novelty than anything else, just another Apple label LP for my collection.

Pete, are you familiar with Capability Brown? I slightly prefer the album Voice over From Scratch, but if you've not checked them out, as a Gentle Giant fan you will probably dig the side long epic from Voice entitled Circumstances. The other side is more straight forward rock but includes a cover of Midnight Cruiser by Steely Dan. Cant be all bad. Enjoy!

Touch (self-titled). Released in 1969. Possibly the greatest progressive rock album/band of all time.

Pete, what do you and your Hudson Valley Squares think of BLACK MOUNTAIN? Geez, I luv that band, one of the few post-post classic hard rock bands that got it - plus, the chick singers, man, and the album covers - are you kidding me?!! Total retro awesomeness...just sayin. By the way, your channel is the shizzle...

A band that fits in this category for me is a Swedish band called "Blakulla". Kind of heavy, great chord progressions, one album in 1975. You probably know of them, if not, they're worth checking out. www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1031
