Minimum Viable Product and Pivoting: Crash Course Business Entrepreneurship #6

- Imagine if the only videos on RUclips were people looking for love. That could have been the world we lived in! Before it had 1.9 billion users per day, RUclips started as a video-based dating service, complete with the truly excellent catchphrase: “Tune in, Hook Up.”
The reason they didn’t flop is because they were willing to listen and fundamentally change their business when their original idea didn’t meet the needs of their market. They were clever observers and nimble enough to pivot.

That feeling you get when your wife walks in on you watching what looks like a dating video....
Thanks for that Anna.
Now all I can think of is Ross from Friends shouting, "Pivot!" XD
I’m doing business administration in entrepreneurship and this is literally what my college has taught in class……I have an exam tomorrow and I don’t feel like reading and studying so I’m watching ur videos as a form of revision lol. Thanks :)
At first, I thought I was watching the wrong channel but thats a great crossover!
That cat hasn't moved in six episodes. Is it okay?
Maybe it's not a real cat. It's kind of blurry and hard to see. I've been wondering about that.
R S & J Studios that was his joke my friend.. 😆
That cat is dead.
Not sure why I only saw this pop up in my feed on the 6th episode. I fricken love this series, and Anna is great!
The problem with MVP mentality is that most of the time Business types are too tight with the $$$ when it comes time to move past the MVP. Most "Entrepreneur" types don't understand the concept of building in the ability to change or expand. This creates a situation where "minor" changes can cost more time and money than the MVP itself did.
I was super confused at first and thought RUclips glitched out and gave me an Anna akana video with the wrong title
This channel is always on point! Thanks for the great uploads with informative content!
i love Crash Course and i love Anna Akana. THIS IS A DREAM
It took me so long to realize that the Thought Bubble at 3:06 is Mean Girls 🤣
Even Gretchen won't wear Gretchen's hats.
Good choice Crash Course, i love how Anna speaks!
hey! u look like her wat is conspiracy
Awesome content plus a great speaker. Thank You for this helpful video.
Pivoting! That's the word. Since plans are nothing, planning is everything ;-) Great successful products or services develop by playing ping-pong with the market, as I happen to call it
"pivot" another weasel word. US "pivots" east, business "pivots" south. It means nothing and just another overused buzzword. Add to list with "savvy".
Anyone got reminded of friends when Ross kept saying "pivot" while bringing up the couch?

So basically RUclips as a company might be not having the best business ideology
Great breakdown!
Wow, this takes me back
This is so good
Good vid
Ohhhh... That's explains all the cat videos :O
In my personal opinion, she did a better job of presenting the idea than all the Oceanographers combined. Just my opinion
Far out. You listening to this intro EA? Who am I kidding that would take some self reflection.
Really interesting.
Thanks
I feel like Anna doesn't age, I remember her on RWJ's =3 channel way back in the early RUclips days. But she look mid twenties at most. But she can't be. Very interesting video also, just a thought I had.
@array s just looked it up, she just turned 30. Happy belated birthday Anna!
I love Anna.
Is it only me who thought that banner "BE FLEXIBLE" in 10:30 have another meaning ? 😁
It seems sad to me that someone might have to go from "I think the world would be a better place with X in it, I want a world with X, so I'm going to make X" but then not enough people want enough X to pay enough for it that that first person can spend their time making X and still survive, so they're faced with the choice of either do what everybody else wants and survive but give up on the thing that motivated them to act in the first place, or else die trying to do what they think is objectively the best thing.
It's why I've never commercialized any of my important projects. I want to make these things that are important to me, and I don't want to end up in the position of having to abandon them because they're not important enough to others. So I do what other people want for a living, and try to also find time to make the things that are important to me for me own sake, not as a business venture I'm trying to live off of.
e.g. what if you personally really want there to exist cups with coasters already attached to them, because you want such a thing yourself, but in the process of trying to create a business making them you accidentally wind up selling thumbtack boards because both they and coasters are made of cork wood and that's where you ended up when you pivoted. So hurray now you have a successful thumbtack board business, but you still wish someone made cups with coasters already attached...
@@Pfhorrest You could then use some of the profits made from the success of the thumbtack business to create and build your original project of a cupcoaster.
If you really want to go fourth with a project out of your own desire and believe someone may be interested, even if it is a small demographic then there are two key factors for it to maybe work: A who is the target consumer and what he/she gets from it(Just like the previous episodes explained) and B multiple sources of income of which you can easily double back from or use to fuel the project. I’m just a commentator but my suggestion is. If you really want to do it at least give it a shot and if it really is not all that profitable then you simply find other ways to move it forward. And if at the end the idea fails then at least you tried. Perhaps it’s just a tiny thing that near no one may use but who really knows right? It may get traction and may just be viable as part of a business but if you really want to don’t simply stay with the wish make it happen.
On a side note about those loose hanging wrists type, any one knows a version with some kind of inner button to secure it when eating? I have seen a some men with long sleeve that can be rolled up past the elbow with inside button to secure it.
Loose sleeve is cute to look at but after it get dipped on too many soup and sauce bowl it loose out it appeals. Im not Americans, if someone could give an international shipping website that would be nice.
And great video btw, youtube always need more educational channel like this.
Omg the viewer to subscriber rate!
Is that Gretchen from Mean Girls?
Bro I thought that too, that’s why I clicked on the video 😂🤣
You forgot 4: Lives up to the what was promised to be there at launch.
Is that a real cat? It never moves.
Nice host 👌👌
Literally every “games as a serves” video game today. They all launch with the bare minimum and expect you to pay full-tilt for much less than what you were getting years ago..... along with microtransactions to nickel and dime you out of everything you got
It feels that clothes shops seems never care of which clothing customers prefer and never connected with customers. Could be learned from this video with hats example.
Nikolay Zinin Yup, just discount remainder stock heavily to make room for the next set of fast fashion. Yuck. Planet destroying waste of resources.
I love you guys
the perfect cross over i love her
4:19 sums it up for ventures that you want to bank on (ie.e considering and responding to feedback in spite of your artistic sensibilities) which is a good thing for the end products of one venture (a popular consumer product), but not a good thing for the end product of the other (popular art, which is a popular consumer product, but not good art). It is like a Russian capitalist told me, "No one cares about their RUclips content, it is all about making money!" (though growing up in the Russian Black Market, he had some very bad ideas about making money - like faking scientific papers with a word-scrambling program (papers which other scientists are charged to read, hence 'making money')... very bad... wasting the time and energy of others... Black Market thinking... (not to disparage 'Black' - let's just call it the Criminal Market, though in Soviet Russia and after, that was the only way to survive, "You could not even get a nail without knowing someone")... (so much for that digression).
Moving to LA, she's acquired a Valley Girl attitude (I was waiting for 'Grody')... horrible! (and she's a writer... there are too many people who write and not enough thinkers who write)...
how many sweater do you own?
9:57 "the death of a mature business"...side eyes to Blockbuster
Fulano de Tal blockbuster tried lol. They started a dvd mailing service to compete with Netflix but alas it was not enough.
@@JulieDiana1992 too little too late
At first I thought I clicked on a Ana video. Then I realized it. What a nice surprise
Welcome to Equals 3
Ties in with the ITIL exam I took today.
"Tune in,hook up" Lol
9:09 I believe that one of the main contributors to Instagram's success is the Facebook acquisition
I don't think that if Facebook would have not acquired it, it would have come to be as popular as it is today
COMMISSION=CUSTOM
she should use hand gestures ✋, instead of chest neck and shoulder gestures lol
what an intro xD
She is actress, model, and educator?
Asian powers
She is also a great fluffer
So y’all don’t have an Instagram??
My Pivot is a little rusty.
I have been on Etsy since 2013 and selling cards and prints of my artwork since 2005. I have never had a bad review on etsy. However the income from it isn't enough to even cover material costs. I have always had a minimum wage day-job, because I am too slow to ever have a better job.
When I was working on artwork that people were buying but I didn't necessarily like I was criticised by someone, they said that work that wasn't made for art sake wasn't worth it. So I always worked on what I wanted, what I wanted to buy, what I wanted to make. Yeah I have a good audience and lot of repeat customers but still, it doesn't make money.
The thing is I have had ideas and thoughts about this "pivot" for a long time. I have known what changes I need to make. I have been putting things off with doubt that I will ever be successful.
Watching this video this morning has felt like being hit in the face with a wet mackerel. I know what to do. I know what I need to do. With all my might I will get this rust pivot moving. Where's the WD40?
Can’t tell if she’s being serious or sarcastic
So basically the OODA-Loop?
Good observation, but business loves their meaningless buzzwords.
I’ve thought of another topic crash course can teach. Spanish and or other languages :)
Next they're going to cast ray with a new series
Who else remembers Ana Akana from Ray William Johnson videos ?
She said: We're all human in the best of my knowledge?
Maybe Area51 has the answer!
soon
yea nah it doesnt . im assured of this.
Hiiii 😅❤❤❤❤ i from 🇻🇪🇻🇪 Venezuela
Too distracted to listen by that central shade, that keeps growing throughout video.

Love you anaconda!!

The keys to success are capital and dumb luck.
When you're too early to comment.
Did she get implants?
As an ordinary white male, my heart is broken :D At least I love cats... and dogs... :D
Her fake annoying personality at the start is just her playing herself.
Most annoying thing she played up was the breath inhalation thing she keeps doing. That's the sort of thing you do when your either a inexperienced singer that's not able to hide the quick inhalations necessary to sing some songs or a chatterbox that doesn't like to give others the opportunity to talk.
what has happened to CC i use to love their videos back in the day, and learned so much of history... this all seems off and terrible
Couldn't get past the first minute of this video. Skip!
An overty-emotive, almost to the point of hysterical or over-theatrical, young bimbo in a cardigan giving business advice? You need to re-think. This is not buzzfeed.
