Stu Lavin played a timpani solo for the corps, and Roger played his snare solo, but in between, you played your solo. I had it on VHS, and I probably watched it a hundred times. Your body language looked like you were getting disappointed with your playing in real time, as you were playing. What's the back-story there? Were you not able to sufficiently warm up or something? Always wondered.
@@ryancox5097 it was mainly the snares. We didn’t think the book was hard enough. We hated the new uniforms bc we wanted to wear what previous years wore. We hated the Ditty bc we wanted to play the same on the field warm up we always played. We hated the monkey drumming part bc it sounded like 8 on a hand. We definitely weren’t the easiest group to deal with.
@@ryancox5097 I was really unhappy with how I was playing it. Shook my head a lot. I actually ended up playing it decent during the actual performance. The following year however I had a total meltdown / panic attack on stage. Combination of being unprepared and not having any tools to deal with anxiety.
They’ve consistently been finishing in third place all summer. They are a solid point away from Boston and multiple points away from the Bluecoats. What makes you think they’re gonna suddenly change all that and win? This is a Bronze year for BD. MAYBE Silver at the very best. Which is fine, you can’t win every year.
Fun fact: It’s the 30th anniversary of “monkey drumming” back in the late 1900s
