I love that the small dive bar is a replica of Paddy’s Pub from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think Frank and Charlie from the show are townies as well if I remember correctly. I always liked to make the rest of the characters as close to their personalities on the show, add them into the world, and have them all interact in the bar. Always made for interesting gameplay!

Felt like some of the builds seems so familiar and then realized this is from the same person who made Wraith. 😂 I love it. His worlds are always so intricate and complete.

That church was most likely a church that had been converted by vampires or other occult sims as their personal clubhouse and party place . Hence the bar and DJ booth. It's that classic trope, supernatural creatures making their homes and hangouts in desecrated holy places =P.

Have you found out how to access the secret island yet? The Quailhogs Inc. building holds some interesting secrets, just like the tower close to the asylum. I recommend checking them out. Also the abandoned house on one of the public beach lots - especially if your Sim is into nectar. Also, the Nectarium is locked for build/buy and the small shed on the lot is blacked out, like in the tombs from world adventures. I wonder how to get in there.
