    Was looking at weighted lap toys for my daughter and they were insanely expensive! Thanks for the video, as I am now going to be repurposing on of her favorite stuffies into a weighted one to help soothe her!

    I was looking for a weighted plushy for MYSELF, because of anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and MDD, but technically, the REAL reason I wanted one is because I ALWAYS sleep on my left side and I'm starting to get a wrinkle-crease on the left side of my face, and I heard that if you sleep on your back, it'll go away. I can't sleep on my back to save my life (or face 😆) but when I saw a FB ad for a weighted plushy for ADHD'ers to comfortably sleep on their backs, I knew I had to have it. Then I saw the price. 🤯😱 So grateful I found this video because I have a plethora of plushies! (You tell someone you love sharks, one time, and suddenly it's 18 years later and you are inundated with shark plushies, lamps, puzzles, stationary, lights, magnets, stickers, sponge caddies, etc., from every gifting occasion! 😂...)
    But I'll definitely be making over those shark plushies into weighted plushies now! Thank you!!!❤🎉

    Got a heatable plush and I loooove how heavy he feels. So now I'm pondering if my favourite childhood plush should get an upgrade too... thanks for the tutorial! I'd personally make little fabric sacks to put the beads inside tho, the crincling of the plastic would annoy me lmao

    I used ankle weights. They were easy to just put in, but I only put the weights in after having then be a "belt" for the plush. They were removed immediately by fidgety fingers

    Did you put this into the dryer? With the ziploc bags in it?

    • @jenniferflynn3487
      @jenniferflynn3487 2 года назад

      That's what I'm wondering because if you put it in the microwave I'm guessing there's a chance that the baggies could melt every other video I've seen they just put the beans or rice in their Raw even when you buy the plushies or the warmies at the stores like my daughter popped open and inside of it was rice brown rice there is no baggies or anything like that so I was wondering about that as well as does the rice go bad after so long?

    • @crazyplantlady2587
      @crazyplantlady2587 2 года назад +1

      I'm pretty sure it does start to get moldy at some point that why I'm going to use pellets (weighted) and instead of ziploc I'll be using some drawstring bags instead of ziploc bags. I don't trust ziploc bag when it get washed constantly, it'd be better with a washable material in my opinion

      @@katiebischoff3580poly pellets. They can be found at craft stores or online. Some are even made with recycled plastics.

  • @jenniferflynn3487
    @jenniferflynn3487 2 года назад

    My question is is when you microwave it to get it heated with you having the bags there are those going to melt in the microwave? I was just wondering cuz the other videos I seen they just put the rice or beans or whatever in there without the baggies so I didn't know which way was better it's better to use the baggies or not to use the baggies cuz I'm worried about it melting or Catching Fire

    • @crazyplantlady2587
      @crazyplantlady2587 2 года назад +3

      I never really though of putting it in the microwave, but even when you are goingto wash it, it will get moldy over time, plus the (ziploc) bags in the stuffed animal. I'm planning on using the mesh material to hold the weight together, hopefully it works

    • @jenniferflynn3487
      @jenniferflynn3487 2 года назад

      Because if you're going to microwave it a lot of things that you microwave when it goes past like 30 45 seconds and it's a thin plastic like a ziplock baggie they automatically start to melt so that's what I was worried about is it melting and going to stick to the material inside of the stuffed animal or Catching Fire cuz most of the time when you use these lap toys they have a tag that says microwaveable instructions because sometimes it's more of a comfort especially if you put lavender in them and you want that lavender scent to really come out or you want the child to feel like the warmth of what they feel with mom or dad or whoever's raising them cuz that makes them more comfortable and it helps them to sleep. My daughter uses hers all the time and she loves to warm hers up and if she's having a tummy ache you know a headache or anything like that when I warm it up it helps and I've put different sense in like the peppermint scent if she's having a headache or lavender to help her sleep in a different sense help with different issues she might be having

    I am sorry, I know basically nothing about sewing but I was wondering why you'd cut a seam open instead of making a slit in the fabric? wouldn't cutting a seam produce the risk of this particular seam opening again in near future, since it's now got two loose ends?

    • @AvaMarie-ij4jl
      @AvaMarie-ij4jl Год назад +2

      Cutting a seam open is probably going to be better. It looks nicer since you’re not creating a whole new seam, and it’s probably not going to open up. There’s generally a bit more fabric where there are seams, vs if you were to just cut open the fabric and then sew it back up there would be new pressure on the seam you just sewed so it’d be more likely to rip open (this is because you’d take up some extra fabric when you made the seam, and so all the other fabric would have to stretch more to accommodate that, thus putting more pressure on your seam). As long as you make sure to sew securely and sew over the parts of the original seam that you didn’t cut to kind of hold the loose ends in place, it shouldn’t come back open. Hope this helps! :D
