I hope these tools and methods will help aid you in your own unique journey. I would love to hear your thoughts down in the comments below. Are you going minimalist in 2022? How do you approach the practice? What are some things you wish you knew when you first began your journey? Namaste 🙏 Kate
I have the exact same problem with wanting to follow another person exactly almost like an idol or guru and it’s still taking me some time to learn that everyone’s spiritual or minimalist or mental health practice will/should be unique and a conglomeration of different perspectives and energies so that it becomes completely you. I love that shit.
I don’t want to become minimalist, but I do want to be more thoughtful/proactive about what I bring into my home and where it came from. I hate collecting clutter and want to consume less new stuff.
I'm an extrovert and I absolutely love storytelling. But if one is not careful, writing can be a very lonely process... I got lost in that thought pattern for a long time. I turned to youtube media for inspiration; looking for advice, how-to guides, even just pure entertainment videos of cats and dogs - anything that convinced me that my time was helpful/constructive/beneficial. And for a time it was. But it also became a distraction; a deep-seated escapism that persisted far longer than its original purpose. Turning to minimalism (at least of mind) has helped tremendously in taking back my sense of self. I like to think of it sometimes less as minimalism and more as sobriety, because taking a step back, reckoning with the silence of my own mind, and the roaming thoughts zipping through my brain that I for so long tried to drown out, feels very much like being sober for the first time in a long time. Its still a long road, but I'm blessed with people who care about me, and equally importantly understand what I'm going through, and give me the space or comfort I need in that moment. You're helping a lot of people Kate. Me included. Its not always easy, its not always hard either though, and as we all know deep down, the journey never really ends. There's always room to grow. Find love and purpose on your journey Kate Emmons. Namaste.
Love the candlelit intros! And it never occurred to me to donate gifts. (I usually find myself with too many after christmas) Sound advice as always Kate, thank you :)
God I can't even imagine 2021 is finished. I have been many things this year well as it happens nothing ended well. I guess I am gonna continue my WIP next year and stay away from all my distractions. Yeah I am gonna sort of try minimalism. Happy New Everyone.
Thanks for sharing Kate means soooooo much for 2022 I will be doing low buy and making the most on owning less because I feel free in my brain and heart with less is best 🙌💜
Someone else said this below too, but I also don't really want to be a minimalist. I'm focusing on the aspects of simply being more proactive and thoughtful about what is actually aiding in survival and efficiency, and what brings joy. My new year's resolution now is to really zone in on that ideal lifestyle picture you mentioned, to decide on what it is for me, and start working toward it throughout the year. I've already narrowed some of it down. Journaling these things is also a great idea :) I hope you're having a great start to the new year, Kate!
Enjoying your chill videos. I am welcoming in positive methods and tranquility while balancing family and new career goals. I see you plan work from home and do local shopping. Do you sometimes do spontaneous work or fun w/others? How do you balance that with a minimalist lifestyle without messing with your peace?
I'm happy to have watched this video. It cleared some perceptions I had, specially number two and the concept of repurposing. I hope this series continue in the future. Wish you a wonderful time and a prosperous year to come, dear Kate. Namaste🙏🏼🌻💛
This is the perfect time. I need to find a place that doesn't mandate chemicals being put in my body to make a living. My writing career is not making any money yet but I really need to get out of the city
