It's because they called it Gauntlet:Onslaught, which Gauntlet is like a more mechanic based strike, and we already have Onslaught in D2 which is more of a hoard mode lol
Want to clarify for those in the comments that there was never a race. The team that completed first was just congratulates for actually completing a raid like activity during a Closed Alpha Test. It's a huge moment because this is a Closed Alpha Test. Having it completed means there's no major issues that should be addressed. This is why they gave everyone in the Closed Alpha Test a reward and not just the team.
Because you guys are not tired of shooting the same damn ogre for 10 years. Have you ever seen a uprising from the community that we are killing the same ogre again and again and again nope. If you don't yell at Bungie they don't do anything
@seven9 brotha I'm aware, I'm saying this because walkers are literally race defining for the fallen, I don't know about you but when I first saw the walker in the devils lair strike back in the Alpha for d1, that was the poster child for the fallen next to servitors and archons, it's a crime we haven't gotten a big boss version yet
Can we talk about a minor change that no one is noticing. The players in the top left screen. How easy it can be to communicate when you see your teammates faces with numbers 1-6 for calling out certain people 😮.. this is a huge miss on Bungies part and would ultimately fix a big issue in LFG groups. Playing crota for the first time and trying to get people to take the light while not knowing who has carried it already is crazy work for anyone that has never done it. THIS NEEDS TO BE IN THE MAIN GAME!
Ehh take it or leave. You know who’s fucking your team. I already know who’s doing what, what their job is and when they’re supposed to be doing what and have that kick button ready
To be honest most of them are. And most popular ones are either a complete brain chew gum, or multiplatform focused on pc (genshin) or died because Nintendo.
The raid was really fun to do. Wasn’t expecting them to have one in the alpha either. Really hope this game will see more stuff like this. The endgame solo IX stuff is also quite fun
I'd day the seperate activity thing is (1) time commitment and (2) you can farm which encounter you want without taking a checkpoint from someone or doing a part of the raid you don't need to do. I think it is a good idea, as long as you have to do a full clear each week in order so that you unlock the ability to choose your encounter. This should be something added to D2.
I'm incredibly prejudiced against mobile games and even I think this game is very decent. Like, shockingly decent. I'm not happy about the character rolls or gacha mechanics, but aside from that, it's a legitimately good game.
The instanced runs for each part of the raid cuts down file size for the game. Don't get me wrong, I love entire raid spaces for the first time you run through them in Destiny, but after so long, there is no need to run through the entire transitionary environment. This cuts down on the bloat for the game while also just getting you into the activity for quicker runs with people AND you don't have to beg people for checkpoints. Also, I feel like they were inspired by The Pantheon so you can transition from one random encounter to the next even if they aren't from the same space.
Wish D2 implemented something like this, complete the raid either for the first time or first time for the week and you get to choose checkpoints for farming.
God, I wish we were able to pick raid and dungeon checkpoints from a in-game menu like this in D2. Like, put some restrictions on it, make us complete it at least once, make it cost fucking glimmer for all i care. Just let us pick, man.
Yeah, people are already doing this with checkpoint bots, which Bungie seems to have no problem with. So just make it official as a QOL improvement. Hell even if it was like "the host needs to have beat this encounter at least once his week", that would still be a huge improvement. I assume with the Wall of Wishes in LW, they probably got some metrics showing people just outright skipped and never touched entire encounters every week and maybe they didn't really like that
oh okay the encounters are kinda like a checkpoint system. so if you only want the loot from the first encounter you can just do that and grind the first encounter without having to leave and come back over and over. which is nice and convenient but i think they really need a node so that you can do all three encounter back to back to back like you load up in the first encounter get the MVP screen and once everyone clicks ready you get sent to a loading screen and then you load up in the beginning part of the second encounter.
Granted a bunch of the activities are just variations of Wave modes with modifiers, or gambit with extra steps. But it is incredible to see how many modes in total there really are.
But that the point brother, how many year we waited to get a horde mode with onslaught. And then they recycle it for seasonal content not even giving us the shiny weapon grind
You obviously don't understand how game development works if you're mad about this. Allow me to clarify. 1. This is a mobile game. The production costs for this game are SIGNIFICANTLY lower compared to Destiny 2. 2. This is a Gacha game. The Gacha market in Asia is massive and therefore the developer can safely stack as much content with an Alpha without really having to worry that they won't get their development costs back. 3. Bungie cannot justify dumping more content into a yearly DLC without significantly increasing development time and production costs which would ultimately force them to increase prices.
If this comes to PC with a PC client, I'm down to try it. I need to know what Aztecross's bluestacks settings are, cuz it visually looks so much better when he plays it.
make sure to set resolution settings in Bluestacks itself, not just the game. Otherwise its just taking a phone's resolution and stretching it to fit your monitor.

It looks great. Only weird thing is it seems like the guns don't do a hell of a whole lot compared to Destiny 2. Like maybe they made the enemies take more damage to kill with guns to have less on screen at a time? I'm getting that weird feeling like from Borderlands. Other than the time to kill or break shields, the gunplay does look pretty smooth. This is awesome - I'm so ready for this on my Odin 2!!!!
True, also the Cabal appear in one of the game mode tutorial videos, as well as on the modifiers for the wave modes. Hey they haven't been mentioned anywhere else in the alpha, nor the promotional material. So there is still a LOT we have not seen
Now we are about to see the true potential of the Destiny franchise when who is making it actually cares about the game, getting these to work they good on a phone with 6 players is insane.
If this was a little less Gacha (better odds on dice rolls and a little more rewarding to play without spending cash)and had console support, man, this could be a really, really successful F2P game.
If this was a little less Gacha then it wouldn't be able to be successful. A F2P game needs a viable source of revenue in order to be successful. This is also why Bungie's choice to make Destiny F2P was a very bad idea.
