That’s right that’s how aircraft damage models are made in DCS in the head on pass you can see a round go into the a10s engine and that’s the engine that then catches fire and burns. Really cool damage models

When I was a kid I partly read a novel based on a particular RAF Lancaster and night raids in WW2. I didn't get through it because I was so traumatized by the demise of the tail gunner Len, who was shot by a ME-109 night fighter and its 20mm cannon. It talked about Len's head and chest and how his bone fragments and blood sprayed all over the inside of the rear gun turret and perspex and how they had to remove his remains to get the turret operating in order to drive off the attack.. It was true the novel was not suitable for children but it was in a kids library at school. The author was probably an RAF Lancaster pilot trying to exorcise his demons from seeing his rear gunner like that too. I'd forgotten about that book and how it disturbed me until this vid.
There's footage, from WWII, where a returning Avenger (I believe) had to be pushed overboard. The rear gunner was still in the cockpit. He was hit with Japanese 20mm, and part of his upper torso, along with his head, were missing and the body was entangled in the wreckage of his part of he cockpit. Because they couldn't recover his body, they covered him with a sheet, and pushed him and the plane off the stern at the end of the service. I believe Periscope Film has the video on their channel, if not it's easy enough to find. If you want to know what it looks like.

@@carlosandleon It’s basically a troll-y meme fest with some truth.
The A-10 is the Monty Python Black Knight of aircraft. Hit it with 20 rounds right in the vital bits? "'TIS ONLY A FLESH WOUND!"
Wait a sec, I've never noticed cars driving around on maps before. That guy got a show on the way home from work.
“So much disrespect from the A-10 today.” Slow motion videos of the A-10 being murdered…. 🤣
3:53 it gently kisses it and the excitement of being kissed causes the head to be no more
I would love to see the A-10 dogfight something like the F-15 STOL/MTD, it would be very interesting
@3:50 this would sound horrific, but just a pink mist ... A friend of mine lost his dad in Iran/Iraq war. His dad was shot by a 23 mm HEI from a helicopter. They gave the family an empty casing of the round for the burial so they can find some peace in burying the case instead.
...that sounds almost cruel to give them the casing.
