I love how this version of the song has been used in all the promotional material for this show. It’s like the creators know full well how identifiable this song is and want those looking forward to watching the show to know that. I just really hope it’s in the show itself ounce it premieres.
The moment after capture of the flag in the books was very important, cause' it was by far the moment where Percy felt the most alone; his mother just "died", his father (after a lifetime of ignorance) just suddenly recognized him as his son, indirectly making the entire camp kneel to him and isolating him in Poseidon's cabin, where he was the only camper and lived isolated from everyone, as if he was contagious just by being Poseidon's son, Not only did he feel alone, but he felt like the entire camp blamed him for exist, as if his very existence was a mistake So i think this song is just PERFECT to be played at this scene, the tone of the song and the lyrics "running down to the riptide" represent well the journey of someone who has just discovered themselfs a child of Poseidon, It's like going down a river, alone, at night, with no one to accompany you, trying desperately to figure out how to control the river, not to have power over it, you just want the riptide to take you to a place where you're not alone…
