Seeing lots of guys working on the opposite line doing engineering works despite the line still being open and trains passing as normal. Very risky but was 33 years ago.
I would love to have just listened to the train driver and camera crew talking, some fascinating insights into the history of York. Especially now, as the area around the station is due for another massive change.
Such an amazing historic document including the banter. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Thank you 😊
So interesting to see the electrification works at the time.

If travelling through Durham, look east from the viaduct - it's a 'world heritage' view of castle and cathedral. When I see it, I'm home . . .
The 'freight line' [at Tursdale Jcn] continuing ahead to Newcastle was the original line from York to the Tyne [Leamside line].
Very interesting footage

The old S&D would have 'come in' from the west, as the [heavy] traffic of coal was from the Shildon area to Newport in the east . . .
0:15 a lot of that has changed it’s now the electric trains that have now taken over the east coast mainline
A lot of those footbridges still remain, on the line to Hexham and Carlisle.
What 'alternative' route comes in from Stockton? Might have seen diversions from Northallerton via Eaglescliffe, but how many?
Bloody hell! York was great until it was f* up!
Pity about all those wittering voices in the background . . .
