- This is a walk around of my 2017 Sun Dolphin Water Tender 9.4 small fiberglass boat. It is sitting on a DIY Harbor Freight Folding 4x8 trailer. Please post any questions in the comments below. Thank you.

Thank you very much. I also have a 9.4 Water tender. I'll be getting the same trailer for my water tender. I was scared that it won't fit my boat. Now that I've seen your review of the 4.8 trailer I will buy one. Thank you earned a sub and a like.
Just bought one used with a 5HP Lehr propane motor. Fits perfectly in a truck bed, easy to carry anywhere. Simple and fun for canal or flat water boating.
6.75hp Briggs engine on a 6hp outboard lower unit will be sweet ! Very nice boat boss ! 👌

I just picked up a Water Tender 9.4, trailer (anchor, oars, paddle, and installed swivel seat), new trolling motor (used once), with Lowrance fish finder, for $600. The owner said he was too old to operate it and he just wanted to get rid of it. I’d have to be nuts not to take the deal.

I have the same trailer and a 3 man inflatable. After seeing your set up, I finished the trailer the same way you did. My boat pushes up against the fenders, so I'll have to put some padding on it. I also have a 2.5 Suzuki outboard that push my boat around about 7 mph. I think your boat would be easier to push. Thanks for your ideas

How do you hang fenders on her do you screw in a hook glue the hook?

The boat is a Dolphin Water Tender 9.4, the trailer is the folding 4x8 trailer from Harbor Freight.
I’ve got the same set up. If you’re tight on space, and a two man boat is all you need, then this is a pretty good set up.
Anyone knows where to get a good deal for a Water Tender in 2021? Only West Marine seems to have it online, for $699 + tax. No other site shows prices... are the prices higher due to supply chain issues in 2020/2021?
I just got mine on sale for 549.
is this boat suitable to take in bays on calm days
It depends on what you mean by calm. It's desgned as a water tender, meaning it works best in protected areas. I've had it out on lakes on windy days, but it wasn't a comfortable ride.
is it a wet ride with alot of spray?
As usual, John, it's dependent upon your speed and the weather conditions. Moderate speed in a flat sea produces little in the way of splash and spray. I believe the cathedral hull has much to do with it.

Since I trailer it to and from lakes for trout fishing, never had a need for them. You'd think since "Tender" is the name, they'd have thought about it.

LOL! I got an offer for it when I was on the Colorado River below Hoover Dam. I was camped at Willow Beach and had boated from there to Hoover. In the evening and old cowboy who was also camped there asked me if the boat was for sale. I told him for the right price it was. He asked what the right price was for the boat motor and trailer. I did a quick calculation in my head and said $1500. He said OK and asked if I could wait until tomorrow so he could go to the bank and get the cash. Not really believing he was going to do that, I said OK. Next morning he showed up with the cash and drove off with the package behind his camper.

What is the motor mount weight capacity? Is is capable of holding an 8hp
The manufacturer recommends "up to 5 hp."
I have seen 8hp motors mounted on these boats
How tall is the transom? Trying to figure out what shaft length to order.

Probably not. It’s 9 feet long and 4 feet wide.
JF...it would have to be a size of SUV that is not currently offered by most manufacturers. You might be able to fit it in a long-bed pickup truck, though.

Brian...with longer cross bars, yes. You still have to deal with the 109 pound weight.
@@ourstoryyourstory I bought it and put it on my roof rack. I also modified it with a trolling motor, battery, Bimini top, seat and lights.

@@sup3rsikwidit I also installed a fold down swivel seat on the back. It's removable so I can take it off when I transport it. I was worried the seat base screws wouldn't stay attached but so far it's holding strong

Outdoor Vids Harbor freight. It’s their folding 4 x 8 trailer. Sometimes you can find it for under $300. It’s a great trailer.
