MBTA should consider extending the Blue Line to Charles/MGH, all they really have to do is dig up the old portal trolley's used to use BEFORE Blue Line was made into a Heavy Rail Line, then just build some elevated structure on Cambridge street. And Charles MGH is already wide enough to accommodate the extension, I don't understand why MBTA just takes it into consideration at least, then maybe it will ease off Downtown Traffic a little.
I don't understand why they need ballast track in a tunnel. just lay the tracks on concrete. sounds like they still use jointed rail. I think the blue line is the only line in the country that uses two separate power setups.

JJ Clouty or adding on to that, they could even just keep it under the ground, and build tall elevators and stairs to the mezzanine and platforms
