That was an amazing video love it keep up the good work. Your videos are so full history and that's what I like. I love the Abandoned Building video's and also love the Bunker video's. Basically what I mean is that your channel has all the things I love.
Visited there a couple of times, my friend used to work there as an engineer back in the 80s when it was open. The engineers had an old decommissioned ambulance they used round the grounds and occasional trips to the pub. It had been fitted with another 6 “spare” blue beacons. Looked a sight going around the grounds with them on.
The listed building thing breaks my heart. Just like you said; they’re allowed to let it rot but they can’t modify it. Take the gorgeous coal exchange in Cardiff for example- it’s in fine usable condition; yet it’s essentially condemned last I saw. I’m guessing they’re waiting for it to rot away so they can say it’s dangerous-then knock it down & put luxury apartments in its place. Sad
If you liked closed and unauthorized bunkers in your area then this is the kingpin of them all will require a little bit of work but definitely worth it at the end I like your fuck it attitude just what these assholes need LOL and me and you are the proctologist to give it to them
Hi Matt, most of the time you will see stately homes etc with the roof taken off and the reason why is so the owners don't have to pay tax on the property. Another cool video, thank you for sharing. x
So the story with the decay is that the owner Mr Collins bought this place, couldn't get planning permission to make houses so left it and eventually stripped all the led lining and tiles from the roofs and sold them for a lot, same with the wooden flooring. Now Mr Collins can't get planning permission and it's a listed/protected building so he's leaving it to rot so that it will have to be condemned and knocked down. A lot of the locals really aren't happy with what's happened and how it's been allowed to happen, you guys were lucky to get in without being confronted. The pictures of this place abandoned from 2010 are incredible, see exactly how it would of been. The stripping of the roof killed that place.
People who buy listed buildings and then strip them or leave them to rot with plans for the future demolitions should be put in jail because they are calculating pricks and then the buildings should be removed from them and their assets sold to pay for the damages done. That would make them think twice about trying it. THANKS FOR THE INFO
When you popped up from the piping ducts after making your way through them, it resembled the bit from ALIENS with Lance Henriksen crawling through the pipe ducts and emerging at the satellite uplink in the pissing rain.
The green conveyor you thought was a mail sorter, is actually a swarf conveyor from a CNC metal lathe. It takes the metal shavings (swarf) out of the bottom of the machine, and into a bin. They must have had a small engineering/maintenance workshop there at some point. CNC means Computer Numerically Controlled. Trust me, I am engineer.
I wish I new you was going here, my father lives in Talgarth & I use work there back years ago!! So sad to see it like this!! You missed quite a bit of the place but I think the bulldozers will be moving on there soon! 1902/3 it was built & you should of seen it in it’s splendour, I use to love this place cos my mum worked here to who sadly died a few weeks ago.. awesome
Who would have thought Talgarth Mental Asylum would be even more hazardous to your health after closure. Those whose only offence was to be ill were sometimes condemned to die in now decaying buildings like the North Wales Hospital, in Denbigh, and the Mid-Wales Hospital, in Talgarth, Powys. Many were privately owned and patients meant profits so there was little incentive to discharge.
Hey man I got a really cool propositioned and a plan don't want to say about what but would really like to get ahold of you to see if you're in I bet my last dollar that you are you're in!

The Coal Exchange is a hotel and taking bookings... is any part of it abandoned or empty?

I was told that almost the first thing that happened after the place shut was that the roofs were stripped so water has done much of the damage.

Actually looks more elongated, like Rat Turds. There *_Used to be_* a very large, grand Chandelier in the central part..Once :)'

It was a rather spur of the moment phone call to go and see it. No real planning. Sorry to hear about your loss. My condolenses.
Thanks, it just would of been really nice to of met you! If only I had known, hopefully there will be another time sometime.. cheers mate 🍺
This place had gone down hill since the water tank fell out through the side of a ward
True that, because it was never this bad (statement of obvious)
Its ridiculous the amount of rain the Southwest of England gets.

Pump em full of drugs so they couldnt leave.
@@TheSecretVault Sad but true, many such institutions treated the patients in their care as assets.
