- A simple take down dart, made from:
(2x) 3', 7/16" poplar dowels
(1) NSF-PW 1/2" fitting
Fletches of some sort
Point (Field point, PEX pile, etc).
These darts fly well, are quick and easy to make, and inexpensive. Be sure to select dowels with a minimum of grain run-offs, this will maximize durability. Enjoy!
I've been using aluminium tube as a connector. Works as well. I appreciate your work, you have lots of good ideas.
Good information and excellent marksmanship... as per usual. Thanks for posting. Best wishes from your New Zealand fan club... Stephen Coote, Nelson, NZ
Thanks Steven!
Just made my 1st 3 Atlatl darts this way and they work great. Thanks for your help.
Michael Campbell Awesome, glad I could help!
Excellent idea. Have you tried using fiberglass electric fence rods as shafts? Im not sure if I need the extra weight but was thinking of using them for fishing darts on gar and large carp and this way of making a butt joint seems to make that possible.
Thanks, John.
Any footage of this in hunting/fishing? If so, I'd be interested in maybe crafting a few (darts) myself.
