Chicagoland Rails 2024 Edition! BNSF/Metra Racetrack- A Modern Steel Highway

From Wednesday, May 8th to Sunday, May 12th, 2024, a few friends and I spent a few days exploring the Chicagoland area railroads to celebrate our college graduations from our respective universities.
For the final part of this Chicagoland Rails 2024 series, we will focus on arguably the most famous of the rail lines in the Chicagoland area, this being the BNSF/Metra racetrack. This line is notorious for nonstop passenger and freight activity and it still stands true in 2024, despite the COVID pandemic causing traffic to decline. On Wednesday, ⅝, we would visit the racetrack to see the Metra evening hour at a couple different places and it was on full display with constant Amtrak, Metra and BNSF action. Another visit to the line on Saturday, 5/11 yielded more action as we would spend a few hours exploring various places along the line and even for a Saturday, the action was quite consistent with few major breaks in the action. This would end up being the final stop on the Chicagoland Rails 2024 tour so I would like to thank you all for following along!
