This man,is great,I always thought he was not given the fame he deserved,a lot better singer than,Sinatra,Bennet, this man had a pure, voice, great range, and even has he grew older could still carry a tune, impeccably!I am a 75 year old man ,and Mr Jones voice is superb!
I played his 45 in my family basement, when I was three. The Impossible Dream. I memorized the words. I put music on all the time. Years later, I was hungry for some breakfast. I looked out at the scenery in this little nook, where I landed, after I finished a business account. Then my eyes scanned the place, to find him there. I guess I reached the unreachable star that wonderful day. His song made this toddler dream of a life, going constantly over the top. Thank you for this. My mentor.
I heard this song when I was 15. I never appreciated it as I do now. My viewpoint has changed with experience. I love its message. I'll cherish it forever.
Before my time, but my elders liked his singing. His dad was a good singer too, I saw him in a Marx Brothers movie. I know Jack was once married yo Jill St. John.
I did no such a short song would have such an impact all around a beautiful song a beautiful message gorgeous handsome man. He sang such great Christmas music too
On this day in 1967 {February 5th} Jim 'Gomer Pyle' Nabors performed "The Impossible Dream" on the CBS-TV program 'The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour'... His version of the song didn't make Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart but three other artists did chart with it; in 1966 Jack Jones peaked at #35 with the song, and in 1968 The Hesitations reached #42 and also in 1968 Roger Williams' instrumental version peaked at #55... In addition Jack Jones' version peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on July 17th, 1966 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
Amazing voice. Natural talent and excellent training. Pure voice with a kind of innocence And handsome. Sinatra saw him as one to watch. They covered some of the same songs. Great Password player, too. He was often on that game show. Many young people don't know what a crooner is. He just came along at a transitional time in music. He could do some songs like those of Bread or Neil Sedaka, even Taylor, but other tunes just weren't suited to his style. They didn't really showcase what he did best.
I think he makes a good job of the song with what he's posesses vocally. He's got a nice voice but a light one. His Dad was similar- knew his limitations.
He's clearly not in breath trouble here... he's truncating for emotive purposes, not due to technical incapacity... For those that know his career and technique, Jones is known to have extreme breath capacity, able to elongate and make transitions from legato phases into elastic vibrato effortlessly... and when required, he's as powerful a pop/jazz singer as there's been over the last 50 years ala Gordon McRae, though with much more improvisational abilities...
Reading comments is the best thing about RUclips. I miss having money for DVDs for the extras. Sometimes, those deleted scenes and commentary show up here. Based on your comment, I’d like to read your other comments. Another JJ video was just uploaded today.
When I was a boy, my oldest brother had favorite singers and would play their albums on Saturdays while he relaxed and read the newspapers. Even at 10 years old, I could appreciate this mans voice. Truly a great singer Jack Jones....and WAY too underrated.
Let's see...I'd have been five when this was broadcast...and probably was watching this with my parents in front of our 1st color TV while living in Norman Oklahoma... Wow...to be able to turn on the TV...w/o a remote...to watch one of probably five or six TV stations....and hear some really great singers doing their craft w/o auto tune...profanity...or moronic lyrics.
Loved Jack but wished he reached the high note at the end. Malcolm Roberts, an English singer is one of the few who have. Beautiful song sung beautifully by Jack.
Great version by a great young singer. The only other version I like better is by Scott Walker who was even younger than Jack Jones is here when he recorded it. Apparently Jack Jones was one of Scott Walker’s favourite singers!
most handsome man on earth. Today he is, however, matched by equally handsome Cal governor Gavin Newsome. They look like twins but are half a century apart in age.
Did anybody notice that in his version, for reasons of which I do not know, he leaves out "to love pure and chaste from afar. I love his version, but I can't imagine why they left that out
Yes, he's changed other lyrics too, such as replacing "to be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause" which takes away much of the drama of the song. Early on also his vowels tend to be shortened and I think overall this lacks the passion of say Andy Williams' version. Just my opinion!
2024...Still loving this...
Not only was he drop dead gorgeous to look at, he could also sing, what a voice, thank you Jack for sharing your amazing talent with all of us
But it's so much more than the voice it's so much more than the orchestra! It's the message that's back of it Patricia. I tear up every time. 😭
2024 Still love this amazing song and his version ❤ aloha from big island 🏝️
Hard to believe he's only 28 years old here! Great talent.
The original Jack Jones, the first singer of The Impossible Dream!😘😍🥰♥️❤🙌🏼🙏🏼
Not really it was Richard Kiley who originated this fantastic song !!!!!

Yes, Jack Jones, with one on the most beautiful voice and vocal skills, was sadly underrated. Greetings,
As a male,Jack makes me feel very inadequate. To be so handsome, and be able to sing like this, sometimes life just ain't fair.
A beautiful man singing a beautiful song beautifully. Mankind at its best.

Thank you for this. My mentor.
He has such a strong voice and to me this is THE BEST version of it.
I was very young when h sang this song . my mom loved this guy
bEST vERSION OF THIS SONG EVER. thanks kenny
Jack Jones got a huge hit for this song because of the purity of his age, voice and superior looks, style, and overall delivery. Excellent pop record!
Its late in the evening and checking out all Jack Jones videos. Everything he sang was beautiful and so wonderfully handsome.
one of my favorite male voices...sooooo pure, rich, clear. it's perfection.
He owns this song... he sings it better than Sinatra, Elvis, anyone... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Listen to Rhydian singing this !! It is stunning !!!
Second best. Jim Nabors, in my opinion, sang it best. They were both great, though, each in his own style and way.
The best version of the Impossible Dream i have heard.
Listen to Rhydian singing this it is stunning !!

Underrated is an understatement, concerning Jack Jones. I'll never understand why he didn't reach a much higher standing among crooners!!!
He was born too late.
Its a real pleasure ti listen to a singer who knows how sing. The last 10 seconds are fantastic. Awesome certainly describes Mr Jones.
I want to cry, for no reason, when I hear/see this
It’s because this reminds you of a purer much simpler time.
Makes me cry too
This was my graduation song in 1968. I still remember how our lips trembled singing this beautiful song!
his voice is perfect! clear, beautiful and undeniable! He is so fine!
Absolutely effortless, Jack Jones was my mother's favourite singer. One of the best ever versions of one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
Magnificent.
it just shows what a great singer he is he does not have to put in any effort. i love this song.
love it - he did this effortlessly - what talent!
I heard this song when I was 15. I never appreciated it as I do now. My viewpoint has changed with experience. I love its message. I'll cherish it forever.

I'm in my '60's and I've only recently heard of him. He sings the Love Boat song.
I know.. He seems to have vanished years ago. I only recently put the Love Boat song and him together.
Young and handsome but always a great singer .
Style, voice, talent and a gentleman called Jack Jones!
The power in his voice is amazing... love this version...
His is the best version of the song.
Agreed!
Favourite version, by far.
One of the best renditions!
He’s the best at this lovely song.
I did no such a short song would have such an impact all around a beautiful song a beautiful message gorgeous handsome man. He sang such great Christmas music too
million people have sang that song but he’s the one in 1 million
Listen to Rhydian singing this !! It is stunning !!
I love Jack Jones. He has been really under rated through out his career. Nice version of the song, he should have gone for the high note at the end!
"Underrated" is ONE word, not two.
What is this, grade school? You should be happy that someone commented on your post you fool!
You should have a comma after the word "post".
TROLLS here detected.
Wow superb talent!
Terrific performance by a terrific singer.

I love his downward glances
What a sexy voice and his looks are so easy on the eyes. My Goodness.
Quality singer that kind of got lost by history.
just brilliant a great singer and looks to match where did i go wrong.
Man of la mancha FTW!!!
Amazing voice. Natural talent and excellent training. Pure voice with a kind of innocence

Takes my breath away. Can take me to tears

My favorite song.
I normally do not like this song, but Jack Jones does a great job with it. In fact he makes the song quite nice!
Just beautiful Jack; you are a true talent.
Jack Jones has always been impeccable. Really a wonderful song stylist
Too bad he ´s never come to Rio, Brazil, where he has so many fans.
Rhydian was and is the best singer of this song, but Jack is ❤
the best !

Jack Jones and Jim Nabors each did a great job with this song. I say it is a tie for which is the best.
Toda música, na versão de Jack Jones fica ótima!
A fine young gentleman was listening to this very song
Sooo Beautifully sung
Still, just WOW.
Amazing
My favorite is 'Wives and lovers'.
The real deal wish I met you Jack
To reach the unreachable star

Great!!!
Bravo!!!
He was very good, but I do miss the passion and drive of a certain other Jones!
most handsome man on earth. Today he is, however, matched by equally handsome Cal governor Gavin Newsome. They look like twins but are half a century apart in age.
Could not agree more.
Perfeito!
Sinatra?..Tony Bennett?..well there's Jack Jones. Make a case..Robert at 67.
❤
True
How does it feel...to be able to sing like this
00:45
Ray Liotta in GOODFELLAS.
do re mi fa solund of music.
Did anybody notice that in his version, for reasons of which I do not know, he leaves out "to love pure and chaste from afar. I love his version, but I can't imagine why they left that out
This was from a live TV show. Time was limited. Notice that the tempo an pace are very quick too.
@jerry5040 It's from a '60s show, "Man from La Mancha" ..
Not Bad 😮
Between him and Matt Monroe is difficult to tell who has the edge. .... dinogberry
Whats a Matt Monroe? Robert at 67. Sounds like a country or a blue grass singer.

Allen Nancy Williams Patricia Martinez Elizabeth
Jack Jones could of been another Pavoratti or Enrico Caruso if he was so inclined in Opera, now thats a talent spread.
Made it seem effortless?
Wow! What show is this from?
I think it was the Andy Williams show.
