I agree 100% about the batteries. I had a problem with electronic locks a couple of years ago. After research I found out that the cheap batteries loose amperage and that is the reason electronic locks fail so quickly or start doing odd things.
Love the videos Jason, thanks so much for all you share! I'm a new locksmith and so many of these videos have been super-helpful to me. Keep 'em coming :)
The electronic security lock on the employee entrance where I retired from started acting funny. A locksmith was asked how much to fix it, he said it would need to be replaced, for 300.00. I replaced the 4 AA batteries and cleaned the corrosion from the battery box, saving the ungrateful employer 294.00. Did that on a yearly schedule and had no more problems at all.
Not easy for the end user to fit that battery box, and why the big plugs for those thin wires. Is it to install with gloves to avoid getting cancer in California. The broken light guide might dim the LEDs if anything .
Great Video. Quick question my company uses these locks and the low battery light indicator is on. If I replace the batteries will the lock codes be reset? Thanks in advance.
We had a "T2" installed and the batteries last a month. Ours is a 5 pack of batteries not the individual batteries you show in the video. We replace them with Duracell batteries and they die quickly. only 4 people in our office so no where near the cycles they claim and no where near the 5 year life either... We had the locksmith install a remote unlock and I wonder if that is killing the batteries. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Individual batteries haven’t been used for close to twenty years How often do you remote unlock it? You should be getting well over a year even with 10-20 openings a day I suspect there might be a pinched wire which can easily happen during installation
@@selock thank you. We had the locksmith come out but they didn't even open the lock. So we will wait and see...if it happens again I will look for a pinched wire. Honestly I don't think the locksmith is very familiar with the lock. I'll update if anything changes. Thanks again!
I'm trying to figure out how to change a battery pack in one of these. The batteries aren't like that; they're enclosed in a white pack and the wires into it are secured with wax. What lock do I have?
Unscrew the top, peel the tape from around the edge, there are 4-5 screws and it opens to reveal your 5 AA batteries :) make sure they go in the right ways. Don’t try to detach the wires
yeah, it is a bit difficult to be honest. The early early versions of them had the 5 in a standard cradle that was right there when you opened it up so they had to come up with a better way for the doors exposed to weather during open/close

Same with electronic safes always use Alkaline batteries never use cheap ones they will leak and corrode the connectors nice job Jason
Valuable information there Jason, I remember those things acting goofy with the off brand batteries. Thank you sir!

Nicely explained, cheers
How long typically do the batteries last?? Thanks

They *shouldn’t reset as long as you don’t push any buttons as you reconnect the battery.
5 AA in a white plastic housing you have to unscrew
@@selock Good to know and thank you for the prompt response. Take care!
FANTASTIC VIDEO 😎

Great video!!
What if it dies and you don’t have a key to open the door
I missed this comment, but you would be locked out!
it can take a traditional key so make sure you have one outside of the door...
Nice looking lock, but manufacturer must improve a way to change batteries 🤦♂️
