Wisconsin Herd 2023-2024 Black History Month Celebration Recap

The Wisconsin Herd partnered with TDS Telecommunications to host a Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 24. Artist Patrick “Patcasso” Hunter crafted portraits of 11 influential black leaders that were sublimated onto the Herd's jerseys. During the game, the Herd played in those one-of-a-kind Black History Month jerseys that included shorts with a continuous drawing of innovations that were created by black inventors. Artist Patrick “Patcasso” Hunter designed the portraits with the theme of “Inspire on Purpose” which was also featured in binary code along the waistband of the shorts. The jerseys featured a traditional African Kente cloth design turned into a circuit board throughout the piping, numbers and words to showcase the intersection of Art within Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). Proceeds will benefit the Harold Lefty Williams DARE2DREAM Foundation which works to improve the quality of life for youth and young adults to strengthen our communities both domestically and globally.
