We already have laws against certain types of speech like threats of violence and slander because threats are not "free speech." Anything that is considered offensive, even by the vast majority, should never be illegal, and I would argue that for true free speech, it should also not be banned on a major platform like Twitter. Users should exercise self-policing by blocking trolls. I don't know if Twitter has this feature, but the user should be able to filter racial slurs and other "offensive" language from their feeds. This is the best compromise for preserving free speech, while making the user experience bearable, and it also mirrors real life, where you don't have to associate or interact with people that you despise.

What ARE the limits under the law?
You CANNOT use speech to call harm to people or property, "let's go beat up Greg!" and speech that puts people in actual physical danger (like yelling FIRE in a crowded movie theater WHEN THERE IS NO FIRE)

Back in the old day, decades ago, people had more manners and respect for each other (at least where I was raised). If and when someone said something we didn't like, we either changed the channel or walked away. I was teased and tormented like crazy for having freckles. BIG FRECKLES! Although it hurt my feelings, I never let them see that they had hurt me. The only time I ever reacted to anything was if bullies picked on or beat up on smaller kids or handicap kids, then look out!!! This girl taught them a lesson they would never forget. As for the tormenting I received, Daddy always said to remember, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." It seems our new society has never heard of that and has become quite weak and fragile that has to have something to whine about all the time. Another saying Dad said, "If you have time to stand around and complain, then you have time to do get some work done or help someone in need."
